Very hot on this day and only a very little glass shelter. Phew, very sweaty. Met a very nice lady who joined us. What few loco's we saw made this shortish visit worthwhile as did the new units.

PRINCE EDWARD AND FAMILY VISIT DUKE OF EDINBURGH IN HOSPITAL
(5 Jun 2012) Prince Edward and his family arrived on Tuesday afternoon at King Edward VII Hospital in London, where his father Prince Philip, the Duke of Edinburgh, was receiving treatment for a bladder infection.
After a 20 minute visit they left the building.
Prince Edward's wife Sophie, the Countess of Wessex, said Queen Elizabeth's husband was in great form and good spirits.
Palace officials said the prince, who will turn 91 on Saturday, was taken to hospital from Windsor Castle on Monday as a precaution and will remain under observation for a few days.
Until Monday, Philip had been the Queen's constant companion throughout the celebrations for her Diamond Jubilee.
He had joined the Queen and senior royals on the River Thames in cold and blustery weather on Sunday for a pageant in honour of Elizabeth's 60 years on the throne.
The prince, who married then-Princess Elizabeth in 1947, has cut back on official engagements in recent years but still maintains a busy schedule.
He spent four nights in the hospital over Christmas after suffering chest pains and underwent a successful coronary stent procedure to clear a blocked artery.
The palace said Philip was understandably disappointed about missing this evening's Diamond Jubilee Concert, as well as a St. Paul's Cathedral service and other jubilee events planned for Tuesday.

A Trip Down Memory Lane on the Cathcart Circle Line
Please watch: The abandoned Eurostar
--~--
The Cathcart Circle Lines form a suburban railway route linking Glasgow (Central) to Cathcart via a circular line, with branches to Newton and Neilston, on the south bank of the River Clyde. They are part of the Strathclyde Partnership for Transport network.
The lines were built by the Cathcart District Railway (Cathcart Circle) and the Lanarkshire and Ayrshire Railway (Newton and Neilston lines). The first part opened on 1 March 1886 as a double line from Glasgow Central to Mount Florida then single to Cathcart, doubled on 26 May 1886. The circular route back to Central station via Shawlands and Maxwell Park was completed on 2 April 1894.
The Newton and Neilston branches were built to provide a through route from the Lanarkshire coalfields to ports such as Ardrossan on the Ayrshire coast. There is still a junction with other lines at Newton, but the track beyond Neilston has been lifted.
The lines originally carried significant amounts of freight, but commuter trains are the only regular users now. Football Specials sometimes run to Mount Florida and King's Park for major matches at Hampden Park.
When the lines were built much of the land around them was open countryside. The existence of a commuter railway was a major factor in the development of Glasgow's southern suburbs, although until electrification in 1962 there was virtually no passenger service beyond Kirkhill by this route.
On weekdays the services have provided a vital transport link for school pupils and college students at nearby schools and higher education establishments, contributing to passenger numbers on top of the commuter traffic.
The lines under British Railways were electrified on Monday 28 May 1962 at the standard 25 kV AC, but originally 6.25 kV between Pollokshields East and Mount Florida because of limited clearances. The Blue Trains, Class 303 units, which had dual voltage capability, replaced steam trains and early diesel units.
There was a trial run on the previous day., and over 5,500 passengers were reported as using the new trains in their first morning rush hour.

RIP, The 314's are being taken out of service due to them not being needed as the 380's are put back on the inverclyde line after the delayed 385's. Allthough it's sad to see these go, getting rid of these are improving the railways for the future.

This video reviews British Airways' flight from London Heathrow (LHR) to Istanbul Atatürk Airport, Turkey (IST) in May 2018.
Video includes footage of the Galleries First lounge at Heathrow Terminal 5, details of the in-flight experience.
I was initially booked on BA 678 (leaving from LHR at 7:00AM) and my booking was changed to the later flight (BA 676 departing at 10:25). I understand this early flight was often operated by a Boeing 767 but with less passengers choosing to travel to Turkey, BA reduced the capacity to this destination. That's also possibly why I managed to secure a good deal on my airfare in Club Europe.
With a flight time of more than 3 hours, Club Europe is certainly the best option to enjoy a full service. If I had to travel economy, Turkish Airlines would have been my preferred option as they still offer a good service in economy.
In Club Europe, the cabin is configured as 2-2 (with the middle seat blocked). Passengers will also find a blanket and pillow at their seat. As Istanbul is a “long” short-haul, passengers get to enjoy a comprehensive service. It would be great if BA could serve the meal service on a large tray – I am always wary how clean (or not) a tray table is and having more space to put the cutlery or bread would be welcome.
Menu: Starter – Balik-style smoked salmon with horseradish cream, Main – Grilled Atlantic Cod fillet with olive mash and ratatouille, Dessert – coffee cream caramel with gingerbread crumble and Croxton manor mature Cheddar cheese with mango chilli chutney and oat cakes.
Although I would have preferred an earlier flight. I arrived in Istanbul in good time to enjoy the evening and dinner there. My flight has a slight delay on departure but made good progress to IST.
Now a couple of things you should be aware of, when I flew to IST, hand baggage restrictions for electronic items on flights from Turkey were still in place. The restriction for flights from Turkey was lifted on 03 September 2018. I didn't receive any information from BA before my outbound flight. I did receive a text and email shortly before my inbound. I noticed that many passengers before boarding their return flight to London had to leave chargers behind so better and early notification would be welcome
Turkish e-visa:
An e-visa costs $20 and you can pay using a credit or debit card. You can apply up to 3 months in advance of your travel date. Turkish visit visas issued on arrival are valid for multiple stays up to a maximum of 90 days in a 180 day period.
Only use the official website. You will find many adverts for other websites – you could end up paying more!
Did you know? the LHR 09R runway holding area entry points are all named after aircraft manufacturers (DASSO, VIKAS, HANLI). 27R is space (PLUTO, TITAN, SATUN). 09L animals DINGO, COBRA, RABIT and 27L is Scottish NESSY, TULLA, NEVIS (information courtesy of @adamspink)
