East Sacramento Community Video - Lyon Real Estate
East Sacramento is the jewel of Sacramento County and unarguably one of the city’s finest enclaves. The area is characterized by a handful of small, charming neighborhoods which blend seamlessly with the refined, elegant homes built primarily in the ‘30s and ‘40s.
Located east of downtown and midtown, East Sacramento personifies urban beauty – where immaculate, tree-canopied streets are bordered by aesthetically charming homes. European revivals, bungalows, craftsman, Spanish, Tudors, and ranch style homes range from quaint storybook to posh grandeur.
The area is best known as the locale of McKinley Park, and the Fabulous Forties; homes situated between Folsom Boulevard and J Street on 40th through 47th Streets. Spectacular homes on larger lots, these homes are often featured in spring and holiday home tours.
McKinley Park is the heart of East Sacramento and a hub of community activity. The Clunie Community Center hosts a number of neighborhood events and houses a branch of the Sacramento Library. The park is also home to the McKinley Rose Garden, a small lake, several horseshoe pits, baseball fields, soccer fields, and tennis courts. A favorite spot for runners and walkers, the park is also popular for yoga lovers, with a free Saturday morning yoga class held behind the rose garden.
East Sacramento is popular also because of its close proximity to Midtown and Downtown, vibrant areas that offer a plethora of shops, farm-to-fork services and entertainment, from one-of a-kind restaurants to a renowned cocktail and craft beer scene.
East Sacramento neighborhoods are highly sought after due to their proximity to freeways, downtown, the Capitol Corridor, and a number of large hospitals. Their charm, everyday amenities, and strong sense of community have helped to attract professionals, families, retirees, and artists to the area.
East Sacramento is a wonderful place to call home.

Places to see in ( Sacramento - USA )
Places to see in ( Sacramento - USA )
Sacramento, capital of the U.S. state of California, lies at the confluence of the Sacramento River and American River. The district of Old Sacramento harkens back to the city’s Gold Rush era, with wooden sidewalks and wagon rides. One of several museums in Old Sacramento, the California State Railroad Museum depicts the construction of the Transcontinental Railroad, one of the country’s earliest technological feats.
Sacramento is the oldest incorporated city in California, settled between the confluences of the Sacramento and American rivers. It was founded in 1849 and there are many reminders of the history of the city including Sutter's Fort, Old Sacramento, and remnants of the original ground level of Sacramento. It experienced explosive growth when gold was discovered in 1848 in nearby Coloma, and the gold rush that followed was the largest human migration in history. Currently it has a population of 490,000 in the city and over two million in the metropolitan area.
The pace of life is somewhat slower than in other large Californian cities, and the people are generally warm and friendly. The city is generally viewed as being affordable for being a large California city. Once a thriving riverfront pioneer town, Old Sacramento now primarily exists as living historic district. The boardwalk style sidewalks and horse-drawn stagecoaches give this small section of town a unique flavor. Old Sacramento contains several museums, restaurants, and the usual assortment of souvenir shops all within walking distance of each other. Best of all, it's a five minute walk from the Amtrak station. It's best visited in late afternoon and early evening. Parking can be scarce, so be sure to utilize the reasonably priced parking structures in the K Street Mall. There's a nice, short, safe walkway between K Street Mall and Old Sacramento.
Sacramento is fairly easy to navigate due to the numbered and lettered streets, especially in the central district which is laid out in a grid. Numbered streets run north and south while lettered streets run east and west. South of the city center (bounded by Broadway, Front Street, and Alhambra Boulevard), the streets are named Avenue when the lettered streets run out.

SACRAMENTO CA, 1965 WILLIAM LAND PARK PG&E PICNIC, AMUSEMENT RIDES
This video was digitized from vintage 8mm film. The subject was a PG&E Picnic that was held in 1965 at Sacramento's William Land Park. There is some great video of a large crowd of gals and kids trying to gather as much of something as they can. Have no idea what that something is. Also there is a nice clip of the amusement rides.

Oak Park Residents Celebrate Progress, But Remain Aware Of Violence
It's Sacramento Police Chief Daniel Hahn's first Thanksgiving helping feed the community he grew up in. And there's no question the Oak Park community is thankful for the connections he's making here. California Fires May Have Unleashed Toxic Nuclear Waste
In addition to the deadly fires that brought destruction across the state of California, new reports suggest that the fires also helped to spread toxic nuclear waste from contaminated sites. The corporations responsible must be held accountable and safeguards have to be put in place to insure that this doesn’t happen again. Ring of Fire’s Mike Papantonio and Farron Cousins discuss this.

Sutter's Landing Park: Sacramento's Gateway to the American River
This video looked at earlier activities and issues at Sutter's Landing Park, a regional park and former landfill with great value for open space and nature within the city of Sacramento. There are still issues facing the park but a long-term vision has been created for truly making Sutter's Landing Park Sacramento's gateway to the American River Parkway. Much has been initiated since 2013 to address park issues and the new state American River Conservancy provides new means to complete Sutter's Landing Park as a true gateway to the Parkway for Sacramento.
These were my observations and perspective. Much more up to date information is available:
