A FEW HOURS IN VALLETTA, MALTA
WIKIPEDIA:
Valletta (/vəˈlɛtə/, Maltese pronunciation: [ˈvɐlɛ.tɐ]) is the capital city of Malta. Located in the south east of the island, between Marsamxett Harbour to the west and the Grand Harbour to the east, its population in 2014 was 6,444,[4] while the metropolitan area around it has a population of 393,938.[2] Valletta is the southernmost capital of Europe, and at just 0.8 square kilometres, it is the European Union's smallest capital city.[5]
Valletta's 16th-century buildings were constructed by the Knights Hospitaller. The city is Baroque in character, with elements of Mannerist, Neo-Classical and Modern architecture, though the Second World War left major scars on the city, particularly the destruction of the Royal Opera House. The city was officially recognised as a World Heritage Site by UNESCO in 1980.[6]
The city's fortifications, consisting of bastions, curtains and cavaliers, along with the beauty of its Baroque palaces, gardens and churches, led the ruling houses of Europe to give the city its nickname Superbissima[citation needed] – Latin for Most Proud.

theartVIEw – The Poetics of the Material at LEOPLD MUSEUM
What the works assembled in the exhibition The Poetics of the Material at LEOPOLD MUSEUM have in common is the utilization of found objects, everyday items and “non-art” materials, which are called into question as bearers of cultural meanings. Incorporated into the structure of these artworks, primarily sculptures and installations, the aesthetics and historical significance of these objects and materials are revealed as well as their semantic content is analyzed – and this often in terms of a playful interaction of material and language.
Artists: Benjamin Hirte, Sonia Leimer, Christian Kosmas Mayer, Mathias Pöschl, Anne Schneider, Misha Stroj und Michael Hammerschmid. Curated by Stephanie Damianitsch
21.10.2016 – 30.01.2017
