LYON TOWNSHIP, MICH. — In a forgotten plot called Happy Hunting Grounds in Lyon Twp Michigan, there is an old pet cemetery that is also home to fallen canine veterans that was nearly reclaimed by nature as years of neglect for the unsung heroes let overgrowth consume it's former grandeur. It started as a thick forest overgrown & THICK with underbrush.

Thanks to Ray Chiasson for putting this presentation together.
Chiasson was a dog trainer at Fort Robinson, Neb., during 1945 and '46.
Fort Robinson was the largest K-9 Training Center during World War II. By mid-1944, all the centers were closed except for Fort Robinson.
Former Technical Sergeant Ray Chiasson now resides at Abbey Park, a senior living community at Mill River in New Hudson, Michigan.
He said he was chosen right out of basic training to be a dog trainer and was sent to Fort Robinson, which was also home to a German Prisoner of War Camp that was guarded by sentry dogs. Every soldier in Chiasson's unit was assigned four dogs.
Abbey Park has a Hall of Honor of photos honoring veterans who fought in World War II.
Abbey Park is also home to the AMVETS Post 2006 Southern Command, which was established by John Bell to honor the senior veterans living there. Post 2006 veterans join the veterans at Abbey Park regularly for meetings and events.

Memorial Day Parade-Milford Michigan May 27, 2013 PART A
Memorial Day is a day of remembering the men and women who died while serving in the United States Armed Forces.[2] Formerly known as Decoration Day, it originated after the American Civil War to commemorate the Union and Confederate soldiers who died in the Civil War. By the 20th century, Memorial Day had been extended to honor all Americans who have died while in the military service.
