Millennium Park is a public park located in the Loop community area of Chicago in Illinois, USA and originally intended to celebrate the millennium. It is a prominent civic center near the city's Lake Michigan shoreline that covers a 24.5-acre (99,000 m2) section of northwestern Grant Park. The area was previously occupied by parkland, Illinois Central rail yards, and parking lots.[1] The park, which is bounded by Michigan Avenue, Randolph Street, Columbus Drive and East Monroe Drive, features a variety of public art. As of 2009, Millennium Park trailed only Navy Pier as a Chicago tourist attraction.

Chicago was incorporated as a city in 1837.
The name Chicago is derived from a French rendering of the Native American word shikaakwa, translated by some sources as wild leek or wild onion or wild garlic.
The first known reference to the site of the current city of Chicago as Checagou was by Robert de LaSalle around 1679 in a memoir.
The first known non-indigenous permanent settler in Chicago was Jean Baptiste Point du Sable. Du Sable was of African and French descent and arrived in the 1780s. traditionally stated to be Haitian, from the French colony of Saint Domingue He is commonly known as the Founder of Chicago.
The municipal flag of Chicago has four red six-pointed stars
1. The first star represents Fort Dearborn.
2. The second star stands for the Great Chicago Fire of 1871
3. The third star symbolizes the World's Columbian Exposition of 1893
4. The fourth star represents the Century of Progress Exposition (1933–1934)
Chicago's nicknames include: The Windy City, the City of Big Shoulders, the Second City, and The City That Works.
Walt Disney was born in Chicago in 1901.

Many critics have praised the completed park.
In 2017, Millennium Park was the top tourist destination in Chicago and the Midwest, and placed among the top ten in the United States with 25 million annual visitors.[7]

In this video we show The Crown Fountain which is a major addition to the Chicago's world-renowned public art collection.
The fountain consists of two 50-foot glass block towers at each end of a shallow reflecting pool. This picture is a tribute to Chicagoans and shows an open mouth which allows water to flow out, a symbol of life. The faces reprojected on an LED screen giving the illusion of water flowing from the mouth.

Created to reinvigorate a 25-acre tract of land in Chicago's Grant Park, Millennium Park is a multi-award winning 24.5-acre public park with venues for performance, art, sculpture, architecture and landscape architecture, located between Chicago's lakefront and the central business district (the loop). At 24.5 acres, Millennium Park is considered either the largest or one of the largest intensive greenroof projects in the world and covers two multi-level parking lots with a total of 4,000 cars, a commuter rail line, and an opera hall.
When Millennium Park opened on July 16, 2004, it transformed an industrial wasteland into Chicago's showplace for cutting-edge art, architecture, landscape design, music and more; the centerpiece of Millennium Park is the Jay Pritzker Pavilion, a bandshell designed by Frank Gehry. Today, it is Chicago's second-largest tourist attraction -- and the City will mark its 10th anniversary throughout the summer. In 2014, the Millennium Park 10th Anniversary Summer Celebration will feature dozens of free events and exhibitions including new, monumental sculptures by Spanish artist Jaume Plensa, designer of Crown Fountain; indie rock, electronica, jazz, classical and world music; films, simulcasts and documentaries shown on an outdoor, 40-foot LED screen; family activities; workouts and more. Due to the size, scope, and multi-phase approach, several companies provided waterproofing, including: Barrett Company; American Hydrotech, Tremco, and Henry.
