[TB2017] Pattaya & Ko Lan | ไปเที่ยวพัทยากับเกาะล้านกัน
Spending Thai New Year celebration in Thailand! Six days exploring Pattaya city where only 2 hours drive from Bangkok, and Ko Lan, probably 15 mins from Pattaya by speed boat, but we chose a safer 45 mins ride on a big ferry.
Our favorite place is of course Ko Lan, where you can still find a clear water and soft powdery white sand beach at this distance. During the day, from 11 am till 3 pm, the island has been flocked with tons of tourists! So my recommendation is to stay overnight there. That way you can enjoy lovely evening, dining on the beach, without tourists and spend an exclusive secluded morning before the first boat arrives.
The new Tiger Farm just lately opened and we did enjoy the farm so much. Tigers were all cheerful and healthy, and staff were well educated about animals and very helpful. They are part of a zoo in Ubonratchathani, a province in northern part of Thailand. In the VDO, the kids had a photo session with “Jomtien”, a 3 months old cub. You can also drop by for a cheap buffet lunch and watch the tigers play and swim around. We still visit this place almost every time we have a chance to go to a Pattaya.

STORYLINE:
After a day of talks on subjects ranging from tariffs to terrorism, leaders at the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) summit were treated to a spectacle from Thailand's royal past on Monday night.
50 boats, paddled by 2,082 Royal Thai Navy sailors in period costumes, glided down Bangkok's Chao Phraya River in a splendid royal barge procession.
Fireworks exploded overhead as beams of light played in the sky, while thousands of floating lanterns drifted in the current and small candles rose into the sky.
The intricately gilded and carved barges - canoes made from towering tree trunks - are restored antiques, and all are national treasures.
The dignitaries viewed the nighttime show from a Royal Thai Navy facility, not far from the royal palace where they had dined earlier.
The 21 leaders, including US President George Bush and Russian President Vladimir Putin, had been guests of King Bhumibol Adulyadej and his wife in an inner palace sanctum where kings once housed their concubines.
The royal couple entertained the leaders in the Chakri Maha Prasat Hall of the Grand Palace, a vast, walled compound by the Chao Phraya river.
The Prasat Hall, largest of the palace buildings, was designed by British architects in 1882 as a blend of traditional Thai and Italian Renaissance architecture.
A major tourist attraction, although some of its buildings are off limits to the public, the Grand Palace is used largely for state receptions and ceremonies while the royals reside in a far more modest residence in another area of Bangkok.

SUGGESTED LEAD IN:
World leaders at the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation summit in Bangkok have been shown the majestic sight of the royal barge procession.
The hosts went all out to present an image of Thailand as both a modern, go-getting society and as an exotic,
tourist-friendly place where traditions are still cherished.
Earlier, King Bhumibol Adulyadej and his wife entertained the 21 leaders in the Chakri Maha Prasat Hall of the Grand Palace, a vast, walled compound by the Chao Phraya river.
The compound encloses elaborately decorated pavilions, halls and a temple enshrining a small but greatly revered jasper statue of the Lord Buddha.
