We are in Kununurra, Western Australia! Our last stop on our Western Australia Roadtrip!
We arrive early in Kununurra after an epic 14-hour drive from Broome the day before

Things to do in Kununurra. Mirima National Park
Often referred to as a mini version of the Bungle Bungle range, Mirima National Park is located in the town of Kununurra.
Mirima National Park offers bushwalking and stunning views over the East Kimberley.
It’s fascinating rock formations were deposited up to 350 million years ago and it is often referred to as a mini Bungle Bungle range.
Mirima is a culturally significant place for the local Miriwoong people. For thousands of years the natural features of Mirima have attracted the local Aboriginal people. The rock formations provide shelter, rock holes provide permanent water and plants and animals are used for food, tools and medicine. Cultural ceremonies continue to be performed at special sites within the park.

Kununurra World Record
Organizers of Kununurra’s big float are confident, they have smashed the world record for the longest line of people on inflatables pool toys.
The current record set in Milan, Italy is 215 meters, but today 700 people took to lake Kununurra and made a line over 500 meters long.
Organizer Glen Taylor it will take about six weeks to get official confirmation from Guiness World Record.
We are celebrating hard now anyway, we’re confident that we have an official world record.

Kununurra Waterfalls | Swimming Holes | Wet Season | Kimberley
2017 has seen the Kimberley receive a proper wet season which means lots of waterfalls for all of us to enjoy!
Footage of Mirima National Park, Kununurra, WA. The park is literally right in town and the swimming holes are a 30 minute walk in from the car park area.

One Family at a Time Program
B Visual Media's latest production highlights the achievements of One Family at a Time which provides support to families to address a range of barriers that impact on school attendance. The primary objective is to increase school attendance and improve educational outcomes for children. Kununurra Waringarri Corporation aims to put the family at the centre of the program, and develop a plan (the “Meeting me Halfway Agreement’) that is built around their specific needs.

The Mirima National Park is right next to Kununurra, WA.
It is not a big park but what it has is quite spectacular. It truly was a mini Bungle Bungles.
So for those of you who cannot get to the Bungle Bungles or cannot afford to take the flight over the Bungle Bungles, it is well worth the visit.
There are four short walks to chose from from easy, moderate and hard. lookout overlooking Kununuarra.
It was a little gem that could quite easily be missed. Late afternoon and the colours are stunning so don't forget your camera and Drone.

Mirima is a national park right in Kununurra, Western Australia, and dominates the first half of this video.
The Pilbara then cameos with spinifex tribbles and invisible cowboys, just off the Great Northern Highway somewhere south of Newman, top edge of the Hamersley Ranges, I think. WA, Australia. Was on the way home.
The Grotto is the gorge towards the end, a deep waterhole, a tad manky in the dry season, between Wyndham and Kununurra, WA, Australia.

Kununurra – land of big waters – is found in Australia’s stunning and remote Kimberley region of Western Australia.
By harnessing the power of the mighty Ord River, we are blessed with plenty of water, and do we make the most of it! Lake Argyle, the largest man-made lake in the southern hemisphere, is a stunning inland sea, dotted with islands and a gorgeous sunset setting. Talking of sunsets, the sun goes down pretty early here, so get yourself into a good spot by 4.30, take a picnic, sit at a waterside bar or get on a boat for something super instagrammable. Take a cruise on Lake Kununurra, winding through the stunning cliffs and rapids, and look out for brolgas, jabiru and freshwater crocs.
Looking to get even more up close and personal to nature? Head down the lower Ord, where you can try and catch a barramundi and spot some Saltwater crocodiles.
Purnululu is one of just 20 World Heritage sites in Australia, and it’s just down the road (in Kimberley kilometres!). A mere 300ks by road or a short flight will get you to the home of the Bungle Bungles. Remember ‘Still Call Australia Home’? Part of that was filmed here. Take a walk, camp or enjoy a luxury lodge.
Make sure you spend time at El Questro, a spectacular wilderness park 50km along the famous Gibb River Road. Casual camping or high end accommodation, fine dining and billion night skies, the choice is yours.
Visit our 3 wonderful art galleries, go on a cultural tour with Miriuwing Gajerrong leaders, try out some jewellery, including the famous pink diamond from the nearby Argyle Diamond Mine.
Explore the agricultural highlights of the surrounding Ord Irrigation Area – it not only tastes good, it looks pretty spectacular too!
Kununurra is a small town, with just 7000 inhabitants, but during the ‘dry’ season, between April and September, the population doubles with people from all around the world keen to explore. Heard of the Mitchell Falls? This iconic triple fall is a flight away, as is Kalumburu, WA’s most northerly community, en route to the breath-taking coast. After a good ‘wet’ season, the waterfalls are pumping and transform the landscape. Surely some of the world’s best looking storms can be found up here!
