Hiking Up At Mission Peak Regional Preserve, East of Fremont, CA (June 16, 2011)
Watch in HQ (480p). It was a lovely, sunny day this day of Thursday, June 16, 2011. Me and my cousin Gretchen decided to go hike up Mission Peak on this lovely, warm and sunny day here in the South Bay. Actually I was the one who decided we'd go :D So in this video, it shows me and my cousin travel and hike up to the summit of Mission Peak, located just east of Fremont, CA.
Firstly, is shows us head towards the preserve at around 11 a.m. Then it shows us arrive to the preserve....well sorta. At about a minute in the video, it shows us kinda lost in a 1 lane road! I think we took the wrong turn. But luckily at about 1:26 in the video, we found the right spot.
We started our hike up the mountain at around noon time. It would've been best if we started early in the morning so it won't be too hot to hike since there's barely any shade. Only a few spots of oak trees but that's about it. So just enjoy the scenery and the journey up to the summit. There are a total of 4 bench rest stops along the entire trail. You can slowly see how we progress up the mountain as we slowly increase in elevation, with the city of Fremont and the rest of the San Francisco Bay Area getting further and further below us.
It got a little steeper as we neared the summit. My cousin Gretchen was doubting that we'd ever reach the summit. I pushed her and encouraged her to keep going since we were more than half way there. (shown at 7:00 in the video, that's how close we were to the peak!)
At about 7:26 in the video, it was one of the steepest parts we encountered so far. I was out of breathe at that time and to add the hot sun beaming directly overhead just made it harder for us. Thankfully, we had lots of water packed for this trip.
Then at around 3pm, it shows the final, and hardest stretch towards the top, shown at 8:07 in the video. It was the steepest and riskiest part of the hike, since there was no guard rails on the side. Suddenly we saw a lot of people heading towards the summit at about 9:25 in the video. I was struggling to keep up haha.
Finally at 3:30ish p.m. (about 10:07 in the video), it shows the view from the summit, about 2,517 feet in elevation! We were very excited and exhausted at the same time! Wow, it was like Mt. Everest style. It was truly a mission accomplished! There was a post that marks the summit of Mission Peak and people can write their names to signify that they've made it all the way. Too bad we didn't bring a permanent marker with us. Up here you could see most of the South Bay and even towards the east, with Dublin and Livermore visible as well as Mt. Diablo. You could even see the Sierras if the air wasn't so muggy.
Then at 12:15 in the video, it shows us start to descend from the summit. We also saw a lizard camouflaging itself on the rocks. We started our descent at about 4:15 p.m.
The remainder of the video shows some more views while on the way down Mission Peak.
As an added bonus, we went to Sweet Tomatoes to have a good dinner. It was our treat for making it all the way to the top of Mission Peak! Hope you guys enjoy the hike and scenic views with us :)

Mission Peak 2017
Mission Peak is a public park east of Fremont, California. There are two routes. The easier one is called Peak Trail. The one we took is the one with the Mission Peak Regional Preserve sign. It is consider harder because it inclines majority of the time and have little to no shade. The weather was not too hot (in the 70s) so it helped made the hike less challenging not that it wasn't. Follow along.

13 Nov 2011:
* Follow only the regular trekking path
* DO NOT take shortcuts/ non designated path
* Why?
- While taking short cuts, people will step on the plants/ grass
- Due to this, vegetation will die & go off
- As a result, soil erosion will happen, destroying Nature...
* Like the way we enjoy the trekking, many generations should enjoy
* Follow rules & preserve Nature

Mission Peak Hiking Trail Walk-Through in Alameda County's Fremont, California
Here is a 600% sped up video walk-through of one of Alameda County's hiking trails, located in Fremont, California, with audio being music and no voice.
For me, the hike took 1 hour and 30 minutes up and one hour 1 down at a casual pace. Please note, your casual pace may be different from mine. I highly recommend a load of water, cover your skin up as much as possible, and still apply a golf size ball of sunscreen twice during your hike.
Their are 2 main starting points, one at Standford Ave. and the other at Ohlone College. I have hiked both (3 times at Ohlone College) and one time at my most recent one, which is the hike presented in this video and began at the Standford Ave. location.

Brushy Peak Regional Preserve, Livermore CA - 2017 with Kaiya
The park is named for Brushy Peak (elevation 1,702 feet (519 m)), a mountain in the Diablo Range, that has had historical significance dating back to Native Americans who lived in the region before the arrival of European colonizers.[1] It was a focus of trade routes that connected the Bay Area Ohlones, Bay Miwoks, and Northern Valley Yokuts.[2] According to the EBRPD, The Ssaoam triblet of the Ohlone peoples was probably the most closely linked to the Brushy Peak area, living in the surrounding dry hills and tiny valleys around the peak and nearby Altamont Pass. Ssaoam populations in the dry summer months may have dispersed and reconverged at various camps throughout the year.[1]
The first European to make an expedition into this part of California was Pedro Fages, who passed through the Livermore Valley in 1772, on his return from Monterey. Mission San Jose (in present-day Fremont) was founded in 1797, and the Ssaoams lived there from 1806 to 1836. As mission lands were converted into ranchos by the Mexican government, some of the people left Mission San Jose to work as laborers on the new ranchos. The land was probably grazing land for cattle from Rancho Cañada Los Vaqueros.[1]
During the California gold rush, Brushy Peak became a hideout for bandits, most notably Joaquin Murietta (1829 - 1853). By the 1870s, the land around the peak was becoming increasingly occupied by immigrants from the east, and less hospitable to the outlaws. In 1900 and 1901, the Bohemian Club of San Francisco held outings on the top of the peak
