MOJAVE OVERLANDERS EP 2: MOJAVE ROAD SHAKE DOWN TRIP
Now that we got most of the items needed for our overland adventures, we need to do a shake down trip to see how everything works. So we planned a trip to do the Mojave Road from US 95 south of the turnoff SR 163 towards Laughlin, NV. You can take the road West to Baker, CA.
We found a nice campground in the New York mountains for the first night (Caruthers Canyon), The desert was in bloom saw lots of great scenic views, and learned a little history along the way. The railroad first ran through this area in 1854, several families tried to homestead in the area and were unable to make a go of it and the evidence that they were there still standing as in stone cabins and old corals. The mailbox, the site of the U.S. Flag in the middle of the desert is a stirring site. Be sure and stop at the Mojave Road Mailbox at mile 74 on the Mojave Road. There is a sign-in book inside the metal box, please sign in and leave any comments.
We took the Mojave Road to the Kelbaker road and headed towards Baker CA and the second night of camping at seventeen-mile point.
Now to head home and get started on our list of things we need to add to the Jeep before we go out on any long trips. You know what they say the perfect vehicle is always a work in progress. We had a very good shake down trip learned a lot about what we need to do to get camp set up quickly and be able to do everything else out of the back of the jeep and be self-sufficient out on the trails.

California's beautiful Mojave Desert along Kelbaker
00155 Mojave Desert along Kelbaker
This video was shot about 10 miles south of Baker, California. What a most beautiful place to visit! Breathtaking views! Video shot with a Canon digital camcorder. Sorry for all the wind noise! There is a lava tube nearby, and we saw outcroppings of volcanic rocks and dry riverbeds called a wash. Awesome!
Please post your questions and comments below, and Thanks for Watching. ENJOY!

Mojave River State Fish And Game
The Mojave River Fish Hatchery is part of the Department of Fish & Game. It is a major producer and supplier of trout for Southern California, It is located in the city of Victorville in San Bernardino County at the rear of Victor Valley College lower campus entrance.
Stringer Media was glad to film the Mojave River State Fish Hatchery as a part of our park reviews.
Rating: On a scale of 1-10 We give this park a 10 for it's quiet relaxful setting. And no visual evidence of crime. The restrooms were very clean as was the on-site park. The employees were hard at work keeping the place in order. The grass in the park was green and there is water and trash cans available. There are plenty of informative signs and bulletin boards to keep you up to date. Parking is plentiful. Once inside the hatchery you can buy food to feed the fish for 25 cents. This is one place to see our tax dollars hard at work.
Pros - Clean, Free & Fun.
Cons - None.
