3 News Campbell Live: Spring muster on NZ's largest farm - Molesworth Station
Three weeks ago, while the rest of the nation was gripped by America's Cup angst, Campbell Live's Jendy Harper headed inland from Hanmer Springs to Molesworth Station. It is so vast it is larger than Stewart Island and one side of the property records an average yearly rainfall of 600mm, while the other side nets 3 metres!
Its history is just as diverse, and it is now well documented in a book just released and to celebrate its launch, Campbell Live was invited to join Molesworth's spring muster.

4 Day Molesworth 4wd Trip - 30 Dec - 2-Jan-2014
Our Trip began at Blenheim Railway station where we met Geoff, our Guide. We then did a loop around some of the local vineyards then headed up the Awatere Valley.
Our first two nights were in a Shearers Hut which had good facilities. We had Dinner and Lunch the following day with Bill & Nicky & Family from Upcot Station. Bill took us on a couple of trips on his station on private tracks.
Next we followed the Valley through to Jollies Pass and down into Hanmer Springs and stayed in a Motel there for the night, and a group meal out.
Following and last day up over Jacks Pass and through Rainbow Road, which was considerably rougher than the the previous road and a lot of washouts and water crossings.
A great trip indeed. Thanks to everyone involved in the trip and of course the other travellers with us, nice to meet you all.
Molesworth Station and Lake Tennyson Feb 2014
As DOC had temporarily opened a track between the Acheron road and the rainbow road we figured we'd go for a bit of a looksee with a camp at Lake tennyson for the night! Beautiful country and well worth the trip before it shuts up again.
Rainbow Molesworth Road Trip
Take a quick tour through the Rainbow Road (St Arnaud to Hanmer) and back to Blenheim via the Molesworth Road. A 300km journey with 2/3rds of it being on gravel roads.

Molesworth and Rainbow Station drive.
For anyone thinking they may want to do this very scenic trip in future this is basically a dash cam drive through Molesworth and Rainbow stations. Best viewed in high definition. Our trip starts from the Awatere valley entrance, down to Hanmer springs and then back up the western side of the Molesworth and through Rainbow station to state highway 63. Not a difficult road and, apart from the Rainbow station section, it could be done in most two wheel drive cars. Rainbow station requires a higher ground clearance vehicle in places and could, at times, require 4x4. Hope you enjoy!

Molesworth Muster Trail by MTB
The Molesworth Muster Trail is part of the New Zealand Cycleway - Nga Haerenga. It's a gravel road ride through the Molesworth Station between Hanmer Springs and SH 2 near Seddon in the Marlborough Region.
We rode just over 100 km of it, through its scenic heart, travelling south to north.
This was just one day of our ten-day South Island, New Zealand Adventure.

A drive over the Porika track.
This is a dash-cam drive over the Porika track in the Nelson lakes district of New Zealand's south island. We start in the Howard valley and finish up at Lake Rotoroa. An easy, scenic 4x4 track. This track could get a little tricky in places when wet.
