Italy's Amalfi Coast
Rick Steves' Europe Travel Guide | In this program, we explore Sorrento's back streets, taste traditional Italian food, drive along the dramatic Amalfi Coast to catch some breathtaking scenery, learn the history behind the tourist shops of Amalfi, stroll in the shadow of Greek temples at Paestum, and sail to the Isle of Capri to enter the fabled Blue Grotto.

Rick Steves Readers Share a Driver and Split the Bill
I love my work for many reasons. For example, this morning I woke up, looked out my window, and saw the small group of my readers that, each morning, gathers here to share the cost of a private minibus tour of the Amalfi Coast (which you'd never want to drive on your own). All over Europe, I work to help travelers economize by sharing costs. This works particularly well here in the Bay of Naples area: Every day, a local company (Mondo Guide) meets my readers for shared-cost tours of Naples, Pompeii, Capri, and the Amalfi Coast:
(This is Day 29 of my 100 Days in Europe series. As I travel with Rick Steves’ Europe Tours, research my guidebooks, and make new TV shows, I’m reporting on my experiences in Italy, Portugal, France, Ireland, England, Scotland, Germany, Switzerland, and more. Follow along at

Pompei Apartment Tour in Naples, Italy Video Transcript:
Good morning guys. This is going to be our last apartment tour here on our trip in Europe because this is our last apartment we're staying in. And we've been staying in Pompei, Italy for a week. And we've done so many cool things using this as our base. But before I talk about that let's give you a tour of the actual apartment.
So here this is the door. If you take a quick peak outside you can see that we're staying in a house and there is a little table over here. Yeah, this is going to be a fast tour because we have a train to catch so luggage already out. Yeah, we're all set to go. We're late as per usual. So over here we had a cool table which we used for both working and eating. Um, up here some nice artwork. Very Italian. Yeah, and we visited basically the first week of December and so it was cold so we were making really good use of that heater over there.
Alright, on to the couch. So we just hung out and watched Netflix here. I love this panorama. Tada. Yeah, it is kind of a panoramic photo of Naples. Yeah, of Naples and you have the Bay of Naples and then off in the distance you have Mount Vesuvius. The imposing Mount Vesuvius. We went up there. That was a true highlight of our stay here.
Okay, let's quickly go into the kitchen. So into the kitchen here. This is yeah it was nicely fully stocked. We made full use of this. We were making our own pastas.
Okay so moving on so yeah this was basically a living area and kitchen and then in here we had uh a fairly spacious bathroom in terms of surface area. But maybe the world's smallest shower.
Okay this is the bedroom. Nice big bed. Again more artwork. And the most important thing in the bedroom was this. Heat. The heater. We would turn that on before we go to bed and sometimes we'd have it on at night while we were sleeping. Then over here we had a wardrobe and lots of extra blankets as well for winter.
Anyways, I'm going to sit down on the couch and tell you why I think Pompeii is kind of like the perfect place to base yourself when you're in this region of Italy.
So first before I forget let's talk about the price. So we got this place for $43 dollars (US) a night. Which I thought was an absolute steal with a weekly discount. It is offseason. We're basically in a house. We have a gate. It just felt very secure. It was quiet here. Really good location and keep in mind when we stayed for instance in Matera we were paying $70 dollars a night. Now the actual city of Pompei is really nice. It has a really nice um like downtown area. Some great restaurants that we loved. It is clean, it feels safe here. It just was a really cool place to be based because we were kind of literally at the halfway point between all of these things that we were doing while we were here. Yeah, so we took a lot of day trips. We ended up going to Sorrento in the south, then we had Herculaneum and Vesuvius which was slightly north. Yep. Then we also did Naples.
There is just so much to do in this area. LIke aside from what we did there was also the Isle of Capri which we didn't have time to do.
That is basically it from us from Pompeii, Italy. We've got a train to catch so we're going to say tata for now and we'll see you guys on the travel vlog which is actually taking us back to Canada. See you guys soon. Bye. Ciao.

CAMPI FLEGREI - ITALY'S SUPERVOLCANO - Looking for Things to Do in Naples? Campi Flegrei is the ideal destination to the west of Naples, Italy. Campi Flegrei is a Supervolcano with a caldera approximately 7 miles across and 24 points at which magma could erupt.
Campi Flegrei last erupted in the 1500s. Mount Agung in Bali is currently in the news due to a potential eruption, however an eruption at Campi Flegrei could be catastrophic, potentially wiping out half of Europe and lowering the global temperature by 4 degrees.
This video covers a trip to Vulcano Solfatara, part of the Campi Flegrei volcanic region. The area appears to be off limits, but after some accidental trespassing on private property, I managed to get up close and personal!

A Walking Tour of Ourense's Roman Bridge
This afternoon I stopped in Ourense for a short stroll over the Roman Bridge (Puente Viejo) of Ourense which stands over the Miño River with views of the other bridges on each side. Centuries ago this old Roman Bridge was a strategic bastion, the gateway to Santiago de Compostela, and a privileged viewpoint over the river. Only a few dressed ashlars at the base remain from the first Roman Bridge, built during the reign of Emperor Augustus. It was rebuilt in the 13th century, with the shape it retains to this day, with pointed arch and ramps. It underwent a final, definitive modification in the 17th century.
After my walk across the Bridge m next stop was the old quarter to have some tapas y vinos (wines)...

Pompei – Introduzione – Napoli – Audioguida – MyWoWo Travel App

Pompei – Storia – Napoli – Audioguida – MyWoWo Travel App

Ferry from Croatia to Italy travel vlog from Dubrovnik to Bari
Come join us as we take an overnight ferry from Croatia to Italy departing from Dubrovnik and arriving in Bari in this travel vlog. Aside from our overnight ferry our journey which started in Budva, Montenegro included bus trips and a train ride to get to our final destination of Matera, Italy. It ended up being a long journey but surprisingly we felt refreshed especially by having a chance to sleep overnight on the ferry. If you're considering taking the ferry from Croatia to Italy or Italy to Croatia we'd highly recommend it.

Ferry from Croatia to Italy travel vlog from Dubrovnik to Bari Video Transcript:
Alright guys good morning. Good morning. It is time for a very long long travel day ahead us. Yeah. Want to tell us what is the plan for today? Well, this is going to be our longest travel vlog we've ever created. We're going to be going to three countries. We're going to be taking the bus, then we're going to be taking an overnight ferry and then we're going to be taking another bus. So basically of yeah we're heading from first off we're heading from Budva, Montenegro to Dubrovnik, Croatia by bus. I think that is going to be about a three hour journey. Yeah. And then we're going to be waiting for a few hours and boarding an overnight ferry and that is going to be really cool. We've never done that before. We've never done an overnight ferry. No. Yeah, so we're going to be going from Dubrovnik, Croatia to Bari, Italy by ferry. Right. And it is overnight. It is going to be a ten hour journey. Yeah. And then once we arrive we're trying to reach Matera. Yes. Which actually I looked it up yesterday it is about an hour by bus. Okay. I had said 30 minutes. It is not 30 minutes. We haven't booked tickets for that so we'll be booking that bus ticket and kind of winging it. But yeah, we'll show you the whole journey and we'll talk about the prices and we'll show you what we eat along the way. So we're really looking forward to this. It is going to be a long vlog. So uh buckle up and let's get going. Let's go.
Well guys our food has arrived. We are eating at what is the name of this place? I always forget. This place is called Taboo and we ate here when we first arrived in Budva because it was too early to check in to our apartment. Yeah. So I got myself some kind of panini with prosciutto, tomato, cheese, lettuce, fries and Sam got himself pizza. Yeah, thin crust pizza. Yeah. So it looks good. How is it? The fries are good. I haven't tried the sandwich yet.
But it looks nice. Yeah, covered in sesame seeds. One thing I have to say is uh compared to Croatia and Bosnia the food that we had in Montenegro was a pretty big step down. Haha. In terms of like it just we didn't find that many restaurants that we loved. Yeah. I think our best meal was the one we had on that day trip (to Perast). Do you remember? Pasta. That is right. Perast. Yeah, exactly. Yeah. But this is like you know this place is I would say has okay food. Yeah. Um, good prices. It is like International food. Yeah. Stuff you could find anywhere. Pastas, pizzas, sandwiches but there is nothing like super local or traditional. Yeah but it is fine. We need a snack before we get on the bus. This works.
