Montana Grizzly Encounter - Bear Safety - Brutus the Bear - RV Road Trip - Bozeman, Montana
Today, we make a stop at the Montana Grizzly Encounter as we head towards Yellowstone National park on our RV road trip. This is a rescue facility for grizzly bears and an educational sanctuary. The staff had an incredible amount of knowledge about bears and did a wonderful job teaching us all about the bears, their stories, and bear safety. The Montana Grizzly Encounter is also home to the famous Brutus the Bear grizzly bear. A huge thank you to the man at the front desk as well - the homemade bread was such a treat!

Hiking on a trail in Montana Glacier National Park to see a waterfall. Along the way someone in front of us spotted a grizzly bear in the berry bushes. While we were trying to see him, we turned and looked down the path we just came up and there was another grizzly 50 feet behind us. We all said Oh S**t, stay calm, look down and slowly walk backwards. We did this and the bear followed us for about a 1/4 of mile, 30 minutes. We saw him take a poop and go for a swim.
RVing with Montana Fires, Grizzly Bears, Moose & Trains
We had a great time in Montana, what a fantastic state. We realized that you could spend several summers here and not see enough. I geeked out on a unique train engine in Harlowton, and we camped with evacuees at Harper's Lake. We made it to East Glacier from our main spot at Swan Lake campground after discovering that we couldn't go fare into the West side because of fires there. Once we got setup at the very inexpensive St. Mary campground just inside the East entrance, it was fantastic, even with the smoke! Make sure and subscribe if you would like to follow along with Terri, George(me) & Gizzy on our adventures as we wander the country living full time in our red, 2002 Newmar Dutch Star, diesel pusher RV. I swear, we have to be the only people in a red class A motorhome.
You can also follow our blog at jumingoffthecliff.com or on facebook via facebook.com/jumpingoffthecliff. We started this adventure in the Summer of 2016.
While our channel is based on living full time in an RV, our subject matter wanders a little like we do;)
Anyway, I hope you will join us as we wander about. Thanks for watching, subscribing, commenting, etc.

Relocating Grizzly Bears in Northwestern Montana
When wildlife populations fall below sustainable levels of survival, scientists try to augment populations by moving animals from healthy populations. In the northwest corner of Montana there is an area rich in habitat, but poor in grizzlies. It is called the Cabinet-Yaak Ecosystem. In the mid 1990s the state augmented the population and it was successful enough they tried again in the mid- 2000s. Check it out!

Montana man posts bloody Facebook video following grizzly bear attack
ENNIS, Montana — A Montana man mauled by a grizzly bear not once, but twice(!) last week, posted gruesome footage of his injuries immediately after the attack in a video that has gone viral.
EastIdahoNews.com has not been able to independently verify the man’s account, but the photos and video provide compelling evidence for his story.
Todd Orr, 50, of Bozeman, set out for a morning hike Saturday and, according to a post on his Facebook page, “hollered out ‘hey bear’ about every 30 seconds so as to not surprise any bears along the trail.”
Orr said about three miles in, a mother grizzly bear with cubs saw him and charged from about 80 feet away. He fired bear spray in the animal’s face as it approached, but it failed to stop the bear.
“I went to my face in the dirt and wrapped my arms around the back of my neck for protection. She was on top of me biting my arms, shoulders and backpack,” Orr wrote. “The force of each bite was like a sledge hammer with teeth. She would stop for a few seconds and then bite again. Over and over. After a couple minutes, but what seemed an eternity, she disappeared.”

Exploring Montana: Paradise Valley & Yellowstone National Park
This is the 9th in a series of videos we'll be releasing about a 2-week trip to explore areas of Montana that we've either never seen, or have only driven through in the past. Our hope is to explore as many of Montana's State Parks as we can. For 2 weeks our home was our 2019 Outdoors RV 20FQ travel trailer, towed by our 2015 Chevrolet Silverado. Join us for a tour of the Treasure State.
We spent a couple of nights in the Paradise Valley, then a day exploring the northern loop of Yellowstone National Park. Yellowstone is much too big for only a day, but it is all the time we had on this trip (we've been there MANY times before). We ran short of time because of a winter storm that was forecast, with predictions of 6-12 of snow. We made the best of the time we had, and then got out of the area before the storm hit.
