Zapata Falls and Alamosa Wildlife Refuge || Colorado
If you are looking for things to do around Great Sand Dunes National Park, Zapata Falls and Alamosa Wildlife Refuge are a couple amazing adventures to check out.
The trip to Zapata Falls was definitely the coldest my feet have been in a while! We had to stop and rest on dry walks on the way up to Zapata Falls.
Zapata Falls may not be the largest falls, but having to hike back through a cave like structure to see it just adds to the adventure!

A completely off-the-grid, 5 acre parcel in the Rio Grand Ranches of Southern Colorado.
Ute Mountain is practically in the backyard! Spectacular views of the Sangre de Cristo sub range of the Rocky Mountains lay to the East of this property and the famous Rio Grande itself is to the West. The drive to this property is a joy in and of itself. Wildflowers
abound, free-range cattle travel the Rio Grande Green Belt area as they make their way to this famous River for water.
Driving along the Rio when the sun is just right, can create some of the most spectacular sights bouncing off the water! This land is level and easy to plow out a drive for camping or a pad upon which to to build a little cabin or maybe it's for the grand home of your dreams! With 5 acres, it's all possible here and not too far off the paved Rt 142.

Imagine Colorado: Activating the Rio Grande Corridor!
Hi, I am Julie Mordecai, director of the Rio Grande Farm Park, a sustainable agricultural park on the banks of the Rio Grande in Alamosa, Colorado.
My great idea is to find place in your community that is central and close to home, somewhere where young people and their families can get to easily by walking or bicycling, and then ensure that it provides a place for children and families to get active and to enjoy their surroundings and nature.
In Alamosa, we have the mighty Rio Grande and it serves as a central corridor connecting Adams State University to the City of Alamosa's Alamosa Ranch, to the Rio Farm Park and eventually the Alamosa Wildlife Refuge. The possibilities to activity and fun are endless!
