Time Lapse - A Sunday Drive through Point Roberts, Washington, USA
May 29, 2016 - One great way to spend a beautiful Sunday afternoon like this is taking a trip across the border for a leisurely drive.
Join me on my 60 minute adventure through the exclave of Point Roberts, Washington, USA. I visit all four corners of this square-mile community, connected to the Lower 48 States only via road connections through Canada. Point Roberts features three major parks (Lily Point, Lighthouse, and Monument), a few of its major community areas (Maple Beach and South Beach), and the bodies of water that isolate this beautiful, quiet community on three sides.
Also, check out a great Canadian past time - buying cheap(er) gas and cheap(er) beer across the border. Even when the exchange rate isn't the greatest, it's still usually a deal. Note: Be sure to always let the customs agents know what you're bringing into/out of each country when crossing the border! There are limits to what you can bring, even if your visit is over 48 hours.
In the distance from Point Roberts, you can see as far as the North Shore mountains (north of Vancouver), as well as the skyscrapers in southern Burnaby and New Westminster. To the east, on a clear day, you can see the rest of the American Mainland in Blaine, Washington, with Mount Baker behind. To the south, the San Juan Islands, and to the west, British Columbia's Gulf Islands and Vancouver Island.
It's a beautiful little plot of land, and though many people think it should be a little piece of Canada (which would've made logical sense back in the day), I quite appreciate its uniqueness as what is, effectively, the largest gated community in the United States.
To book-end the trip is another light-speed trip down the main street of Tsawwassen, British Columbia, 56th Street.
At the end of the video I have provided a map of this adventure.
Enjoy!

The Clay Cliffs of Point Roberts, Washington
April 2012 - I go on a walking tour of the Clay Cliffs of Point Roberts, WA, one of the nicest little natural wonders right by where I live.
The Clay Cliffs are located in Lily Point Park, in the very southeastern corner of the Point Roberts penninsula - only a five minute drive from my place across the border in Tsawwassen, BC, Canada.
Point Roberts Border Crossing
This is the easy crossing into Point Roberts Washington State. A gem of a spot that many arent aware of. Canadians love purchasing secondary homes on the Point because of the proximity to Vancouver and the ease in which you can get there!!

Heading South to Point Roberts
Ordered my new Sanyo VPC-E2 Waterproof camcorder from Amazon but the company does not ship to Canada. So I had it shipped to TSB :D Figured I might as well do another driving video clip. I was not thinking but that morning heading down south there was a beautiful sunrise. On the way back the mist was quite heavy. Enjoy.
EDIT: I just noticed there is a black frame part way through the video. Sorry. It was suppose to a text screen indicating a quick pit stop for gas :p

The US-Canada Border Splits This Road Down The Middle
Rue Canusa (or Canusa Avenue) is a street that's split in two by a border: the northern part is in Stanstead, Canada, and the southern part is in Derby Line, USA — and border crossings here aren't as easy as they used to be.

Amazing beach, unbelievable atmosphere!
Peace Arch Historical State Park
A dramatic white arch rises from the green lawns and flowering gardens on the U.S.-Canada border at Blaine. Some may not realize that the international Peace Arch they pass on Interstate 5 is the principle feature in an iconic Washington state historical park devoted to peace and serenity.
Peace Arch is unique among parks because it consists of two parks in two countries. The southern half of the park and the monument itself is owned by Washington State Parks and the northern half, by British Columbia Provincial Parks. The 67-foot concrete arch, which is listed on the National Register of Historic Places, was constructed to honor the centennial of the treaties resulting from the War of 1812. These agreements between the U.S. and Britain established a peaceful, undefended border between the U.S. and Canada.
Take a stroll through the lush gardens. Stand on the lawn and take in the view of Point Roberts and Vancouver Island. Enjoy seasonal bursts of color from rhododendrons, azaleas, dahlias, hybrid tea roses and annual blooms. The sound of children’s laughter may drift from the playground to the gazebo, adding to the calm, happy feel of this manicured landscape.
Whether you’re headed north or south on Interstate 5, this park is a worthy stop and a moving reminder that peace is possible.

Point Roberts, WA
I love the quiet beaches at Point Roberts, a small US enclave that you can only drive to via Canada, it is close to the Taswassen Ferry Terminal. Not many visitors because of the border hassle, it is called the US's safest gated community :)
Fortuna - Point Roberts - Seattle - Yakima, USA 2016, neděle 4. 9. 2016
V neděli jsme letěli z kalifornské Fortuny podél pobřeží Kalifornie a Oregonu k severu až k nejseverozápadnějšímu bodu USA, poloostrovu Point Roberts, a dále kolem Seattlu a sopky Mt. Rainier do Yakimy ve státě Washington.

The Unguarded American Border Part 2: A Personal Tour
A follow up to my video, The Unguarded American Border. This is a personal tour of the American/Canadian border just South-East of Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada. It is totally undefended. It is lined with corn fields from Canadian AND American farmers. There are border markers about every mile or so to remind people of the international boundary. I shot this video and not a soul stopped, questioned or otherwise impeded me in making this video during broad daylight.
No actual border incursion was made into America. This video is just to demonstrate the odd paradox of the unguarded American border of the north to the fortified Berlin Wall styled border to the south...anyone can legally stand next to the border markers!
