Panfilov Park Almaty:
The Park of 28 Panfilov Guardsmen is a major park in Almaty, Kazakhstan. The park is located in east-central Almaty in the area surrounding Zenkov Cathedral. It is dedicated to and named after the Panfilov Heroes, 28 soldiers of an Almaty infantry unit who died fighting Nazi German invaders outside of Moscow in World War II. The group takes its name from Ivan Panfilov, the General commanding the 316th division which, in spite of heavy casualties, believed at that time managed to significantly delay the Germans' advance on the capital, buying time for the defenders of the city. An eternal flame commemorating the fallen of the Russian Civil War and the Great Patriotic War burns in front of the giant black monument of soldiers from all 15 Soviet republics.
There was a suggestion to rename the current existing name for the park due to the July 2015 publications by the State Archive of the Russian Federation that the military newspaper Krasnaya Zvezda had concocted the story's details of the heroic story. However, there are no considerations by the city officials in renaming the park.

Ascension Cathedral:
Designed by Andrei Pavlovich Zenkov in 1904, a cathedral was built entirely of wood with the belfry being erected on September 14, 1906. The inner structure of the cathedral was made in the artistic workshops of Moscow and Kiev. The iconostasis was painted by N. Khludov. The cathedral in considerably survived the 1911 earthquake. After the Russian Revolution the cathedral was used to house the Central State Museum of the Kazakh Soviet Socialist Republic. From 1930 to 1940 it was used by important public organizations. The first radio transmitters in Almaty were situated in the cathedral's belfry. Restoration work on the cathedral began in 1973 and lasted until 1976. In May 1995 control of the cathedral was returned to the Russian Orthodox Church, and after additional restoration work it was reopened for religious services in 1997.

The 28 Guardsmen's Memorial in Dubosekovo
The battles of World War 2, which spread all over Europe, Asia, Africa and even America, got its first turning point in Dubosekovo village, which is situated about 100 kilometers from Moscow.
The inscription on the stone board says: „Defending Moscow during the severe November days of 1941, here on this frontier the 28 Panfilov's heroes stood to death and overcame“.
The number of 28 people should be likely considered symbolic, because during that days near that line there used to be examples of mass heroism by soldiers of the Red Army...

132.The monument to Manshuk Mametova and Aliya Moldagulova
Many citizens of Kazakhstan took part in the battles of the World War II and died there.
Each family cherishes the memory of the family hero. More than one million people from Kazakhstan fought at the front lines. Aliya Moldagulova (1925-1943) and Manshuk Mametova (1922-1943), the heroes of the Soviet Union, were among the fighters. The memorial honoring their deeds of arms was erected in the garden near “Astana” square in 1997.
The authors’ team consisted of sculptor Satybaldin K.K., architects T. Yeraliyev, V. Sidorov, designer M.E. Yerkenov. Sculptor Baymagambetov S.K. was the head of the team. There are two main characters of the monument. Those are bronze figures of two girls in military uniform. They are shown walking at a smart pace. The memorial stands on a rectangular basement. The story shown in the sculpture is simple and understandable for anybody. Two young girls Aliya and Manshuk combat for peace and died. There are names of Aliya and Manshuk engraved at the monument.
The composition called “Peace” is a logical addition to the monument. The monument is crowned by the globe. There are figures of three playing kids and birds.
Nursultan Nazarbayev, the president of the Republic of Kazakhstan, visited the monument’s opening ceremony. The monument is under state protection from 2001.

Evidence of Ergenekon epic found in Altay Mountains
Findings obtained during excavations in Kazakhstan, carried out by the Turkish Cooperation and Coordination Agency (TİKA) in collaboration with the International Turkish Academy, have shed light on Turkish history.
To launch the findings, an international seminar was recently held with the participation of leading historians and archaeologists.
International Turkish Academy head Prof. Darhan Hıdıralli said the discoveries found in the excavations overlapped the places featured in the Ergenekon epic. He said graves found during the excavations also revealed significant information about the Göktürk era.
The findings in the excavations gave clues that the region might be Ergenekon, where Turks took shelter during hard times.
“The geography, which is featured in the Ergenekon epic and known as the place where Turks sheltered during hard times, is the same with the high peaks of the Altay Mountains. Musical instruments found in the graves prove to us a rooted cultural life and a developed civilization in that period. Why did such a civilization live in these precipices rather than more comfortable lands? Iron-made tools and other things found in the excavations reveal that the people of that period came to this region to escape from some difficulties, just like it is told in the Ergenekon epic. All these things confirm our thesis that this place is Ergenekon,” Hıdıralli said.
Hıdıralli said the excavations proved that epics could be a source for human history. He said, “We should not underestimate the myths. It is not the first time that Ergenekon, also known as Nevruz and Salvation, has been associated with the Altay Mountains. But for the first time excavations prove us that Ergenekon and the Altay Mountains have a relation.”
The first stage of archaeological work on the Altay Mountains between 2012 and 2014 unearthed the grave of a Turkish soldier, who was buried with his horse, weapons and lute, and a Turkish poet, which date back to the 6th and 8th centuries, the period of the Göktürks.
Hıdıralli said the plant motifs found on the musical instruments proved the findings were from the Göktürk era. “The fish skin used in the sword hilts is a type of fish which only survived in the Pacific Ocean. This proves to us that the Göktürks reigned even in the Pacific Ocean area, or they had good relations with the people there. It is also known that the swords are in Turkish style and were not brought from another region but produced in this region,” he said.
The International Turkish Academy announced that excavations would continue in the Altay region and Mongolia and the findings would be shared during an international archaeology seminar titled “From Celestial Mountains to Ötüken.”
The Astana-based Turkish Academy was established in 2012 with a contract signed by Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan and Turkey.
Working on Turkish history, geography, literature, music and arts, the academy is also working to find the grave of Attila in Hungary as well as the grave of Sultan Alparslan in Turkmenistan’s Merv city.
