George and Charlotte Mine Railway 2012
The G&G is a 2ft gauge NG railway about 3/4 of a mile in total end to end. There is a single track from the station down to the mine portal then the track splits - that section is controlled by a token staff system. Passengers are taken in through the mine past several displays with talks etc then the track comes out of the mine at New Quay where there is a run round loop. The train reverses for the return trip outside the mine alongside the Tamar river back to the token box and then on to the station. The loco then runs round for the next trip. The trip usually takes around 40 mins.
The locos are all 0-4-0 battery electric with 30 x 2 volt cells in the battery box supplying 2 x 60 volt DC motors underneath. They were made by a firm called Wingrove and Rogers under the trade name British Electric Vehicles (BEV). They were purchased some 30 years ago second hand from Taylor Woodrow and others where they were used on tunneling contracts and similar projects. They also not surprisingly made milk floats and also the electric delivery vehicles for Harrods in London. The G&C has 8 locos, 5 in working order.
The Robey engine is an old vertical boilered portable steam engine. It was used to haul large buckets (kibbles) of copper ore to the surface. Originally taken to the place of work drawn by horses. Now in a very sorry state, it actually belongs to a firm of boiler repairers (Pridhams) based at the Buckfastleigh railway station on the Dart Valley Line to Totnes. Dated around 1890.
Thanks to Ted Baker for the above information and for introducing me to this delightful Mine Railway.

Narrow Gauge Railways of South Africa - Apple Express Part 7
Narrow Gauge Railways of South Africa - Apple Express Part 7
By the time Port Elizabeth celebrated its centenary in the 1920’s, the city was well established as a port, although cargo still had to be transferred in lighters to and from the three jetties which constituted the harbour, and the ships anchored in the roadstead.
The breakwater which created the new artificial harbour in 1931 was built from stone extracted from the quarry at Chelsea, twenty-two kilometers inland.
Over the years, countless narrow gauge trains, carrying goods of every description, have rolled down the trestle and snaked into Port Elizabeth Harbour.
Transporting everything from stone to timber, from pipes to produce, the narrow gauge railway has faithfully and efficiently serviced the economy of the region - for nearly a century. But today, the future of the Avontuur Line is hanging in the balance.
My Cornwall Holiday 2019
1 minute & 55 seconds summing my Cornwall holiday 2019. Good holiday this year and I tried to focus more on the cinematic effects visuals and sounds can create. This probably made this video alot more understandable while it was quick but you knew what was going on because of the sound.

Coracles (from the Welsh cwrwgl) have a history dating back thousands of years. The coracle was originally covered with animal skins and in some countries they are still made this way. In Wales they are now skinned with calico which is waterproofed using a bitumastic paint.

Iron furnace - bush-style bloomery
Making iron, Edwardian bush style.
A bloomery is a type of furnace once widely used for smelting iron from its oxides. The bloomery was the earliest form of smelter capable of smelting iron. A bloomery's product is a porous mass of iron and slag called a bloom. This mix of slag and iron in the bloom is termed sponge iron, which is usually consolidated (shingled) and further forged into wrought iron. The bloomery has now largely been superseded by the blast furnace, which produces pig iron.
Iron ore melted in makeshift furnace.
