Wooden Palace of Tsar Alexey Mikhailovich, Kolomenskoye Park, Moscow
Wooden Palace of Tsar Alexey Mikhailovich, Kolomenskoye Park, Moscow! The great palace and other structures.
Tsar Alexis I had all the previous wooden structures in Kolomenskoye demolished and replaced them with a new great wooden palace, famed for its fanciful, fairytale roofs. Foreigners referred to this huge maze of intricate corridors and 250 rooms, as 'an Eighth Wonder of the World'. Although basically only a summer palace, it was the favorite residence of Tsar Alexis I. The future Empress Elizabeth Petrovna was born in the palace in 1709, and Tsar Peter the Great spent part of his youth here. Upon the departure of the court for St. Petersburg, the palace fell into disrepair, so that Catherine II refused to make it her Moscow residence. On her orders the wooden palace was demolished in 1768, and replaced with a much more modest stone-and-brick structure.
Fortunately, detailed plans of the Alexis I palace survived. The Moscow Government has completed a full-scale reconstruction in 2010. The rebuilt palace stands approximately 1 kilometer (0.62 mi) to the south of its original location near the White Column, in order to preserve the historic foundations. The palace erected by Catherine the Great in 1768 was demolished in 1872, and only a few gates and outside buildings remain.

During the early Soviet period, under the initiative of architect and restorer Pyotr Baranovsky, old wooden buildings and various artifacts were transported to Kolomenskoye from different parts of the USSR for preservation, so currently Kolomenskoye Park hosts an impressive set of different constructions and historical objects.

ARTS & ENTERTAINMENT
Moscow Youth Palace, Russia. (October 2013)
ARCHIVE video: Behind the scenes during one of their last rehearsals before public viewing....

The Moscow premiere of Chicago was held at the Moscow Palace of Youth. In the spirit of the classic itself, the premiere was styled around the 1920s era.
Moscow's version of Chicago doesn't differ from the Broadway production, which has been playing for 17 years now in New York City and which has won 17 Tony awards.
The plot, featuring a story of murder, greed, violence, exploitation, adultery and betrayal, was first penned by the Chicago journalist Maurine Dallas Watkins in 1926.
The protagonists are women serving time in jail for murder, whose worst nightmare isn't the electric chair, but seeing their names disappear from the headlines. Writer Bob Fosse first turned it into a musical in 1975, complete with the characteristic jazz and dance from the era, with a score by John Kander.
The Russian production was created by Andrei Morsin and Alexander Karpov, who have previously adapted children and family musicals for the Russian audience. Chicago, for them, was something of an experiment - rated 18+, it was definitely not for the whole family, although several celebrities turned up with their children for the premiere.
This is the second time that a Chicago production has premiered in Moscow. The first, directed by and starring Russian pop singer Filipp Kirkorov, managed to draw a few loyal fans, but didn't really take off.
According to Dmitry Bogachyov, the general director of Stage Entertainment, Kirkorov failed with the timing of the musical. In 2002, neither the audience nor the producers were ready for something like Chicago. The concurrent release of the movie adaptation, starring Richard Gere, failed to attract additional interest.
In some ways, Chicago's success in Russia reflects what the production went through in New York City, where it also premiered twice, in 1976 and 1996. Just as in Russia, the second production was more successful.
The Moscow production cost its creators more than 3 million euros, Dmitry Bogachyov, the producer and the head of Stage Entertainment, told The Moscow News.
The elegant black and white decorations and costumes, the ostrich feathers and sparkles, the virtuoso jazz orchestra playing directly on the stage, as well as the sexual subtext of a multitude of half-naked dancing bodies, all set Chicago apart from the family musicals common in Moscow.
The Moscow production starred Anastasia Makeeva as Roxie and Lika Rulla as Velma. Rulla played Velma in the 2002 production. Alexander Arsentiev from the Pushkin Theater was invited to play the role of Billy Flynn. Renowned Russian singer Larisa Dolina, who performed in the same role on Broadway at the Ambassador Theater, played Matron Mama Morton. Although Dolina's role involves little dancing, she was a natural for the part.
Supporting actors were Alexei Rossoshansky, who played the cheated husband, and Daler Nazarov, who played a journalist. Both managed to successfully play in roles suited for them.

my trip to Russia full version
Youth Exchanges supported by Erasmus+, groups of young people from different countries jointly design, prepare and carry out a work programme. It is usually a mix of workshops, debates, role-plays, simulations, outdoor activities. The young people are supported by experienced youth workers and leaders in this. Youth Exchanges allow them to develop competences, become aware of socially relevant topics, discover new cultures, and strengthen values like solidarity, democracy, etc...
On January 15 - 23, the international youth exchange “My Nationality is Mankind” took place in the cultural and educational center “ETNOMIR”, gathering 30 representatives of active youth from Russia, Sweden, Finland, Slovakia, Egypt and Morocco.
It was the first time i flied out of my country and i had strange feeling when i start exploring MOSCOW, there streets and buildings etc...
in this program, English helped me a lot in learning new things. English is the language of science and technology and the lingua franca used nowadays to communicate. The fact which motivated me to ameliorate my speaking and writing skills in English. The content of this program was also very informative. Indeed, I learned new things which paved the way for me to dig deeper and learn more about the theme My Nationality is Mankind.
During this program, I had the chance to meet people from different parts of the world which made me know more and discover new cultures, new beliefs, new eating habits and new languages and which in turn motivated me to learn more about our similarities and differences. Above all we are all humans who have so many things in common though we have different backgrounds. We are all thirsty for a peaceful and harmonious future where we coexist.
By being open minded, flexible and adaptable, I was able to make life lasting friendship with other participants from Russia, Sweden, Slovakia, Egypt and Finland. We had a lot of fun and we shared so many stories and experiences with each other. There was a kind of mutual understanding and respect between us regardless of our different backgrounds.
During this program, I tried to share some of my talents with the participants such as creating and editing videos and playing the guitar during our leisure time. And To promote peace in the world, we worked on a musical play in which Peace at the end triumphs over war and violence because life without peace will turn us to the jungle era where the strong preys the weak. Only by facilitating dialogue between cultures and by promoting understanding and accepting our differences, then we can live in a more peaceful and harmonic world.
I gain a great experience and a lot of beautiful friends from different countries and i won't forget that amazing memories with all of you.
Finally I want to thank all the organizers to gave me this chance and specially i want to thank My friend Abderrahman assorhani
Let's enjoy the video together

Kolomenskoye (Russian: Коло́менское) is a former royal estate situated several kilometers to the southeast of the city center of Moscow, Russia, on the ancient road leading to the town of Kolomna (hence the name). The 390 hectare scenic area overlooks the steep banks of the Moskva River. It became a part of Moscow in the 1960s.
The White Column of Kolomenskoye
Kolomenskoye village was first mentioned in the testament of Ivan Kalita (1339). As time went by, the village was developed as a favourite country estate of grand princes of Muscovy. The earliest existing structure is the exceptional Ascension church (1532), built in white stone to commemorate the long-awaited birth of an heir to the throne, the future Ivan the Terrible. Being the first stone church of tent-like variety, the uncanonical White Column (as it is sometimes referred to) marked a stunning break from the Byzantine tradition.
The church reaches toward the sky from a low cross-shaped podklet (ground floor), followed by a prolonged chetverik (octagonal body, and then an octagonal tent, crowned by a tiny dome. The narrow pilasters on the sides of the chetverik, the arrow-shaped window frames, the three tiers of the kokoshniks and the quiet rhythm of stair arcades and open galleries underline the dynamic tendency of this masterpiece of the Russian architecture. The whole vertical composition is believed to have been borrowed from hipped roof-style wooden churches of the Russian North. Recognizing its outstanding value for humanity, UNESCO decided to inscribe the church on the World Heritage List in 1994.
The great palace and other structures
