The sacred mountains of 黄山 Huangshan, China have been a magnet for emperors, artists and monks for centuries. Its dramatic landscapes and granite peaks has inspired numerous classic paintings and poems in Chinese culture.
As someone who has travelled and shot Yosemite extensively, I also refer to Huangshan as the Yosemite of China.

Hiking the Yellow Mountains: Mt. Huangshan in China
A recap of our overnight stay in the Yellow Mountains (Mt. Huangshan, China) in November covering our high-speed bullet train, to a taxi, to a bus, to a cable car, and finally a hike to our hotel. We woke early to catch the sunrise at the peak and spent some time goofing around the mountaintop and exploring more of the mountains with their steep cliffs and breathtaking views.

Huangshan (literal meaning: Yellow Mountain) is a mountain range in southern Anhui province in eastern China.
The area is well known for its scenery, sunsets, peculiarly-shaped granite peaks, Huangshan pine trees, hot springs, winter snow, and views of the clouds from above. Huangshan is a frequent subject of traditional Chinese paintings and literature, as well as modern photography. It is a UNESCO World Heritage Site, and one of China's major tourist destinations.
The Huangshan mountain range has many peaks, some more than 1,000 meters (3,250 feet) high. The three tallest and best-known peaks are Lotus Peak (Lianhua Feng, 1,864 m), Bright Peak (Guangming Ding, 1,840 m) and Celestial Peak (Tiandu Feng, literally Capital of Heaven Peak, 1,829 m).

Huangshan, known as 'the loveliest mountain of China', was acclaimed through art and literature during a good part of Chinese history (e.g. the Shanshui 'mountain and water' style of the mid-16th century). Today it holds the same fascination for visitors, poets, painters and photographers who come on pilgrimage to the site, which is renowned for its magnificent scenery made up of many granite peaks and rocks emerging out of a sea of clouds.

YELLOW MOUNTAINS (Huangshan), CHINA: How to get there, Getting around, Cost
The Huangshan Mountains AKA Yellow Mountains are some of the most famous mountains in China. We loved exploring them on our short visit after hearing so much about their beauty. In hindsight, we would have done our trip a bit differently. If you have one weekend to see them, these are some options that I would consider:
1) Arrive Friday, get to Tangkou and sleep. The next morning, get up early, grab the cable car up to the top of the mountains, and hike all day through the famous peaks. Spend the night at one of the many inns on the mountain and get up early the next morning to find a spot for a spectacular sunrise. Then either hike or cable car down.
2) Arrive Friday, get to Tangkou and sleep. The next morning, get up early, grab the cable car up to the top of the mountains, and hike all day through the famous peaks. Take the cable car down and sleep in Tangkou. Get up early the next day, take a car or bus to Hongcun Village, about 1 hour away. Check out the village for a couple of hours, then take a quick 15-20 minute cab to the famous Bamboo Forest near by and spend some time walking around in there. Then head back to Huangshan for train or flight out.

Of all the notable mountains in China, Mount Huangshan, to be found in the south of Anhui province, is probably the most famous.The strange pines, absurd stones, sea of clouds and hot springs are the four wonders of Mount Huangshan. Mount Huangshan is an ideal environment for wild animals and plants. Flowers bloom as though in all the four seasons due to the change in climatic conditions of the mountain. So we can easily visit Mount Huangshan in all the different seasons and wound not to be worried of missing the attractions . It is said that you won't want to visit any other mountains after seeing wu yue but you won't wish to see even wu yue after returning from Mount Huangshan. So we can see the beauty and uniqueness of Mount Huangshan.

What do i want to do before i die? Traveling these Chinese destinations are a few out of 250+ items i currently have on my ever-growing list. So grateful I could travel China with my dad, someone that knows a lot about the country and culture.

Huangshan (Yellow Mountain) is considered one of China's greatest treasures and Chinese will often say if you go to this Mountain, there is no need to visit any other in China.
Thankfully, the first day I went up to the top, I was graced with crisp blue skies and a warm Sun, but the weather is erratic. When you buy your ticket it is good for 3 days, but very often, 1 or 2 of those days will be fog and rain, which makes visibility poor to none.
I disagree with all of the Chinese websites claiming Yellow Mountain is the best in China. I Much prefer Zhangjiajie over Huangshan
