Buildings destroyed as out-of-control NSW bushfire races towards beach communities | ABC News
A bushfire burning out of control on the New South Wales South Coast has destroyed at least one home and shut off escape routes for residents in nearby coastal communities.
The fire, north of Batemans Bay at Currowan, which is subject to an emergency warning, crossed the Princes Highway into Murramarang National Park on Monday, bolstered by strong westerly winds.
The NSW Rural Fire Service (RFS) said one house on the Clyde River, as well as other structures, were destroyed in the afternoon but no further details were available.

MURRAMARANG NATIONAL PARK // BEACHES TOUR WITH MEG - PART 1
Let's go for a drive, head north from Batemans Bay about 20 minutes where you will take the turn off to Durras. Following the road all the way into Durras until you find the dirt behind Murramarang Resort you will then be into the Murramarang National Park.
In the Murramarang National Park you will find a huge range of beaches. In this video Meg takes you on a tour of the first 5 beaches you will come across in the Murramarang National Park.
You dont need a 4WD to get to these beaches despite it being on dirt, however Meg recommends a larger SUV style car to get in comfortably. You will come across visitors in smaller cars however it does make the drive slow and less comfortable.
The walk into Emily Miller Beach is short but take care on the way down as it can get a little steep & slippery. Dark Beach & Myrtle Beach take at least 5 minutes on foot to walk into and are downhill so be prepared to walk back up the hill on your way out. Richmond Beach & North Head have no walk to get to.
If you would like to find out more information on any of the beaches seen in this tour head to the National Parks website

MURRAMARANG NATIONAL PARK BEACHES // CHAIN BAY & SNAKE BAY
Fancy a little bit of a hike to discover a beach all to yourself?
In this video Meg takes you on a bit of a hike into 2 beaches you can only access by foot or boat! You wont find a beach like this very often!
Situated in the Murramarang National Park both Snake & Chain Bay are north of Batemans Bay. Chain Bay is the next beach north of Maloney Beach. It used to be a highly visited beach by locals as it boasts pristine turquoise water, great snorkling & even diving! Chain Bay almost never has a wave making it an amazing family beach. Like a scene from a movie most of the time you will have either of these beaches all to yourself and if not they are long enough to have an end each.
The Snake Bay walk is approx a 5.5km return trip with a medium grade track, as we mentioned we ran most of the stairs as a bit of a challenge.
Discover both of these beaches for yourself and let us know what you think...
