The Museum of Soviet Arcade Machines Moscow Montage
In Soviet Russia...video games play you!
I visited Moscow recently and just had to check out the Museum of Soviet Arcade machines.
The exhibition is a fascinating insight into popular culture in the late Communist era,
and all the games seek to promote the social realism state ideal.
There's no cowboys and monsters here; only space related stuff, driving, ice hockey,
war games, hunting, and titles based on traditional Russian games.
Well worth a visit if you're in Moscow or St Petersburg!

Embalming Lenin’s Body - How Embalming is Done
World leaders came and went away forever. But what they have done for their nation can’t be estimated. Great leaders were born in most difficult time for a country. But very often people can’t believe that after all he has done, finally he is dead. Once it happens with every one of us and with most great leaders as well. People cling to the thread at all costs and try not to give their unforgettable leader to leave forever. This happened with Lenin in Soviet Union. He died on January 21, 1924. It was almost 100 years ago. But so far, his embalmed body is kept in the mausoleum in Moscow. That time it was a daunting task - not to give to the leader of the October Revolution leave his people, who need him so much. The best minds were working on the procedure of embalming the body of the great leader. And it was well managed.
Embalming Lenin’s Body features:
- realistic medical details
- feel like real doctor
- you can see the whole process of embalming
- absolutely outstanding hero - Lenin from USSR
In our game, we tried to recreate the process of embalming Lenin’s body such as it is described in historical documents. Touch history with us.

Legendary Japanese video game designer Hideo Kojima took part in a public talk at the 'Garage Museum of Contemporary Art' in Moscow on Saturday, where he spoke about the new project headed by Studio Kojima Productions – 'Death Stranding.'
The creator of the new game, which is due for release on November 8, intrigued his fans for a few years, by giving information about the upcoming project bit by bit.
Indeed, it was not easy [to develop], because the game development process is different from filming,” admitted Kojima. “Thankfully, it turned out in the creation of this game.”

Russia: Gulag history museum publishes graphic novel about horrors of Soviet forced-labour camps

Gulag history museum in Moscow recently published a comic about the horrors that took place in the Soviet forced-labour camps during the 1930s to 1950s and led to the death of more than 1.5 million people, as shown by footage shot Monday.
The museum’s creative manager Sergei Kozhevnikov explained that telling stories about Gulags in a comic format requires “careful approach”.
“There are two types of haters. The first consider comics as an impropriate format for stories like this, for telling about tragic events. Others do not accept these historical facts,” he said.
Kozhevnikov added that the graphic novel’s yellow colour was chosen in order not to darken the story, and because it “refers to the colour of hope. This is the colour of the sun.”
The protagonists of the comics series are ordinary people, whose lives have already been presented in an exhibition of the Gulag history museum.
One of the graphic novel’s heroes is a young girl whose parents were shot in one of the camps, the museum’s director Roman Romanov said.
“Until recently, she thought that her mother passed away somewhere in the camp. Just recently while working on our exhibition, we requested the information from the department archives and received documents confirming that her mother was shot, that she didn’t stay in camps,” said the director.
“After she saw the exhibition and her own story, she said that she understood that she had survived precisely to tell her story, that her experience and her fate are connected with her survival,” Romanov added.
According to the Gulag museum, a quarter of young Russians do not know anything about the Soviet camps.
Gulags were a network of forced-labour camps, which existed in the Soviet Union from 1930s to 1950s. At least 18 million people, including numerous political prisoners during Stalin’s Purge, went through the brutal system over the years. According to various estimations, between 1.5 and 1.7 million people were executed or died due to unbearable working conditions at the Gulag camps.

Russia: Comics depicting horrors of Soviet forced-labour camps go on sale

Gulag History Museum in Moscow on Tuesday started selling comics telling stories about the people who went through the Soviet forced-labour camps.
One of the graphic novels tells the story of Yulia Pashaeva, whose parents were killed in the camps.
“It is necessary to tell this to the youth because there should be sense of justice,” said Pasheva, hoping that someday Russia would “reveal all of this, confess.”
“If we confess, the Lord will forgive us and Russia will resurrect again,” she concluded.
Museum shop visitor Arseniy Averin said that the comic book is “very serious,” adding that “its seriousness and tone correspond to the seriousness of the problem.”
Gulag museum’s coordinator Alexei Trubin explained that the comics are going to be distributed through bookshops and online platforms in the near future.
Gulags were a network of forced-labour camps, which existed in the Soviet Union from 1930s to 1950s. According to estimates, around 20 million people, including numerous political prisoners during Stalin's Purge, went through the brutal system over the years. According to various estimations, between 1.5 and 1.7 million people were executed or died due to unbearable working conditions at the Gulag camps.

RUSSIANS RUSH TO VIEW BANNED MAGAZINE
Moscow, Russia Eng Comm Duration: 1.01
Pages of Playboy and Hustler magazine have gone on display in
an exhibition of erotic art in Moscow. Muscovites are flocking to the display which is the biggest ever to take place in Russia, where it was banned until recently. More than 4,000 works are being shown at Moscow's Photo Centre, charting the history of the genre from ancient Greece to more recent times. Leonid Bessmertnykh, the owner of the collection, denies that his life-long passion involves anything dirty or crude. As he sees it, the collection, which took 40 years to assemble, glorifies only the most natural of emotions. He says that he selects items to give an all-encompassing view of human sexuality.
