Ontario Connects - 2017 Ontario Museum of History & Art Landscape Renovations Completed
On February 6, 2017 the Ontario City Council hosted a variety of public and private organizations as well as members of the community to dedicate the completion of the landscape renovations at the Ontario Museum of History & Art. The landscape renovations transformed 2.4 acres of water-consuming turf and asphalt parking lot, on the grounds of the Museum, into a sustainable outdoor education garden with multiple environmental, economic, health and social benefits.
This project, funded by an Urban Greening Project for Sustainable Communities Grant, was completed in four months. The new grounds include two gardens, one that focuses on Native American Tongva Plants and the other is a California Native Plant Demonstration Garden. There are all-weather permeable concrete pavers, an infiltration basin, vegetative swales, and educational signage.
In addition to the landscape renovations, two new monument signs were added to the Museum grounds. The monument signs were part of a Capital Improvement Project investment by the City of Ontario. These monument signs serve as wayfinding for residents and visitors to the Museum.

Consumer credit is a debt that a person incurs when purchasing a good or service. Consumer credit includes purchases obtained with credit cards, lines of credit and some loans. Consumer credit is also known as consumer debt. The most common form of consumer credit is a credit card. Secured credit cards require that the clients put a down payment as collateral, so that they can build their credit risk free. Better Qualified has teamed up with the affiliates to help the clients build credit through secured credit cards. Consumer credit allows consumers to get an advance or loan to spend money on products or services for family, household or personal uses repaid at a specified future date. As warplanes pound ISIS targets and U.S. special forces ramp up operations in Syria, the war against the terrorist group may be unfolding on another far more unconventional front as well. The hackers' collective known as Anonymous says it, too, is at war with ISIS. In a series of messages posted on Twitter and YouTube, Anonymous claimed to be preparing to unleash waves of attacks on the extremist group, which is also known as the Islamic State, ISIS, or by its Arabic acronym Daesh. Cyber Attacks can have a tremendous impact, cyberwarfare expert David Gewirtz told CBS News. Of course, they can't be used to arrest people or take terrorists off the field, but they can certainly be used to compromise structural components of terrorist operations. More to the point, they can go after both the money that terrorists have and their funding sources.

Industries within Finance and Insurance sector are defined in terms of activities for which a production process can be specified, and many of these activities are not exclusive to a particular type of financial institution. To deal with the varied activities taking place within existing financial institutions, the approach is to split these institutions into components performing specialized services. This requires defining the units engaged in providing those services and developing procedures that allow for their delineation. These units are the equivalents for finance and insurance of the establishments defined for other industries.

10. Gulliver’s Kingdom, Japan
The Japanese are really something when it comes to business ideas. In 1997, they wanted to open an amusement park based on the famous novel by Jonathan Swift “Gulliver’s Travels”, because who doesn’t want to pretend they are in an 18th century English novel?? Apparently not enough people because the park closed down just 4 years later. I mean it’s not really that trendy when you have Star Wars, Harry Potter, and Jurassic Park.
9. Spreepark, Berlin
This place was first opened in 1969 under the name of Kulturpark Plänterwald, in what was then East Berlin. After the fall of the Berlin wall, in 1989, the park was renamed to Spreepark, because it was built right next to the Spree river. It was quite an attraction because, for years, it was the only amusement park in East Germany.
8. L’Aquatic Paradis, Spain
This water park was built in Sitges near the city of Barcelona but, unfortunately, it didn’t stay open for long. From the very start, L’Aquatic Paradis was faced with a myriad of problems. It had tons of slides and pools and people were excited about it, but two years after opening there was a tragic accident and then massive debt issues….sound familiar?
7. Akvadroma Water Park, Russia
This complex, also known as the Indoor Complex near Moscow was approved for construction in 1997 – the idea was to have a huge center for the upcoming World Youth Games. It was an enormous undertaking, as it took over an area of 43,000 square meters (468,000 sq. feet), with 9 floors complete with swimming pools, water slides, track and field course, offices, and medical center.
6. Lake Dolores, USA
This waterpark was the first ever in the United States. It used to be a popular desert attraction but now it is abandoned in the middle of the Mojave Desert, California. It was known as Lake Dolores or Rock-A-Hoola Waterpark, back in the day. The name Dolores actually comes from the name of the person who built it.
5. Dunaújváros Vidámpark, Hungary
This Hungarian park was very popular back in the day – the beginnings of this park go back to the 19th century! While it was severely damaged during WWII, in the 60s and 70s, the place was booming because so many people wanted to go! It was fixed up to look like an “English Park” in 1952, but it became even more popular after the Hungarian revolution 4 years later.
4. Holy Land, USA
This attraction located in Waterbury, Connecticut was full of religious exhibits and bible studies for the whole family! It was big for around 30 years and attracted about 40,000 people a year to be exact.
3. Joyland, Wichita, USA
This amusement park was started by the Ottaway family during the economic boom in Wichita. Lester Ottaway bought a steam locomotive in 1933, and wanted to build something around it, so ergo we have Joyland!!
People used to come mostly in the evenings to cool off and enjoy every one’s company, especially since there was no TV!
2. Takakanonuma Greenland, Japan
Don’t let the name confuse you- this place is not in Greenland, but Japan! This amusement park was opened back in 1973, but it was closed only two years later. I’m not exactly sure what happened, but official sources said that there just weren’t enough ticket sales. Which means that the Japanese didn’t do a proper market analysis, which doesn’t sound like them at all!!
1. Pripyat Amusement Park, Ukraine
This amusement park really didn’t have any luck. It was opened in in the town of Pripyat, north of Kiev, but it didn’t last long. In fact, it lasted for less than one day! Yes, strange as it may sound, this amusement park was closed less than 24 hours after being opened to the public.

From Wikipedia
Bellevue is a city in the Eastside region of King County, Washington, United States, across Lake Washington from Seattle. As the third-largest city in the Seattle metropolitan area, Bellevue has variously been characterized as an edge city, a suburb, boomburb, or satellite city. Its population was 122,363 at the 2010 census and 147,599 in a 2018 census estimate.
As of 2019, the city promotes itself as a diverse, global city at the heart of Seattle's Eastside, and home to some of the world's most innovative technology companies. Prior to 2008, downtown Bellevue underwent rapid change, with many high-rise projects under construction, and was relatively unaffected by the economic downturn. The downtown area is currently the second-largest city center in Washington state, with 1,300 businesses, 45,000 employees, and 10,200 residents. Based on per capita income, Bellevue is the sixth-wealthiest of 522 communities in the state of Washington. In 2008, Bellevue was number one in CNNMoney's list of the best places to live and launch a business, and in 2010 was again ranked as the fourth-best place to live in America. In 2014, Bellevue was ranked as the second-best place to live by USA Today. More than 145 companies have been located in Bellevue. Current companies with headquarters in Bellevue include PACCAR Inc, T-Mobile, and Valve.
The name Bellevue is derived from the French words for beautiful view.
Recurring cultural events
Bellevue is the site of the popular annual Bellevue Arts and Crafts Fair (originally Pacific Northwest Arts and Crafts Fair), held since 1947 the last weekend in July. The biennial Bellevue Sculpture Exhibition draws thousands of visitors to the Downtown Park to view up to 46 three-dimensional artworks from artists around the country. In celebration of its strawberry farming history, Bellevue holds an annual Strawberry Festival on the fourth weekend in June at Crossroads Park. The festival initially began in 1925, and continued to 1942 when many Bellevue's strawberry farmers were incarcerated as part of the Japanese Internment. In 1987 the festival was resumed as a one evening event, and in 2003 it was expanded back to a multi-day festival.
Places of Interest
The Bellevue Arts Museum first opened in 1975, then moved to Bellevue Square in 1983. In 2001, the museum moved into its own building, designed by Steven Holl. The museum subsequently ran into financial difficulties and was forced to close to the public in 2003. After a lengthy fundraising campaign, a remodel, and a new mission to become a national center for the fine art of craft and design, the museum reopened on June 18, 2005 with an exhibition of teapots. The Rosalie Whyel Museum of Doll Art - now closed - contained one of the largest doll collections in the world—more than a thousand dolls—displayed on two floors of a Victorian-style building, which is now the site of the KidsQuest Children's Museum. Near Interstate 405 is Meydenbauer Center, a convention center that brings corporate meetings and charity events to the downtown area. Meydenbauer also includes a 410-seat theater which attracts operas, ballets, and orchestral performances.
The city government has planned to build a performing arts center, tentatively named the Tateuchi Center (named for philanthropist Ina Tateuchi), since the 1980s. It would include a 2,000-seat concert hall, offices, and creative spaces at a site in Downtown Bellevue. The $200 million project is partially funded with private donations and grants from the city and county governments.
Sports and Reaction
Since the 1970s, the city has taken an active role in ensuring that its commercial development does not overwhelm its natural land and water resources. Today, the Bellevue Parks and Community Services Department manages more than 2,500 acres (10 km2) of parks and open spaces, including the Downtown Park and the Bellevue Botanical Garden, as well as several playgrounds, beach parks, and trails. More than 5,500 Bellevue residents participate in volunteer activities through this department annually.
Bellevue was home to the American Basketball Association team, the Bellevue Blackhawks. The Blackhawks in 2005, despite being ranked 13th in the league, made it to the championship game in front of 15,000 fans in Little Rock, Arkansas. The team has been inactive since 2006.

藝苑掇英 Marcel Barbeau II馬塞爾·巴伯 (1925) Abstract Expressionism Op Art Minimalism Canadian
tonykwk39@gmail.com
Marcel Barbeau was born in Montreal in 1925. Between 1942 and 1947, he studied painting and sculpture with Paul-Emile Borduas at the École du Meuble in Montréal, where he was a student in furniture design. At that time and until 1953, he regularly visited Borduas studio where he met other young artists and intellectuals, including all members of Les Automatistes.
As a member Les Automatistes, a major Canadian contemporary art group and movement, he participated in all exhibitions featuring the group and signed its manifesto,"Total refusal". Some art historians consider that he was and remains its most innovative artist. He also was a junior member of Montréal Society of Contemporary Art, he exhibited with them between 1945 to 1948.
Between 1958 and 1974 Barbeau lived and worked in Vancouver, Paris, New York and southern California respectively, before returning to Québec. While in Paris, he concentrated on using pure colour and altering the viewer's optical perception with his works. While in California he created photography and sculptural projects. In New York, Barbeau consorted with members of the french cinetic movement, GRAV (Groupe de recherche d'art visuel), and exhibited with the American OP (optical art) art school throughout the United States. While living in France between 1971-74, he started a major series of monumental sculptures and began his first performances.
Today Barbeau shares his time between painting and sculpture. In 1991, he returned to Paris where he worked for a few months, annually until the spring of 1996. In the fall of that year, he established himself in Bagnolet, a Paris suburb, continuing to visit Canada each summer.
He is mainly known as a painter, however he has been involved in many visual art endeavors exploring drawing, sculpture, print, photography and performance. Over the course of his career, Marcel Barbeau's artwork has taken a variety of directions as he continually responds to his creative impulses and his desire to exceed the limits of a given form. His art has been exhibited in Canada, in the United States, in Europe and in Northern Africa where he had many one man shows. He has also participated in several international exhibitions. He has also been the subject of a few art films and videos among which renown film maker Manon Barbeau’s Barbeau “Libre comme l’art”. This was a 49 minutes film on his work and career co-produced by Informaction and National Film Board of Canada (2000).
In 1963, he received the Zack Purchase Prize from the Royal Canadian Academy. In 1973, he was given a Lynch-Staunton Foundation Grant by Canada Council.
在紐約,Barbeau與法國動能運動GRAV(Groupe de recherche d'Art visuel)的成員合作,並與美國OP(光學藝術)藝術學校一起展出。
