Auschwitz exhibit, largest in US history, set to open in New York City museum
The largest exhibition on Auschwitz ever presented in the United States is about to open in New York City, featuring more than 700 original objects and 400 photographs never before seen in this country.
Auschwitz. Not long ago. Not far away. opens on May 8 at Museum of Jewish Heritage -- A Living Memorial to the Holocaust, located in Battery Park City
Visitors will experience artifacts mainly from the Auschwitz-Birkenau State Museum, the Museum of Jewish Heritage, and more than 20 other lending institutions on view for the first time in North America.
The exhibition includes hundreds of personal items that belonged to people killed in Auschwitz and to those who survived.

Museum of sex , nyc.
As a Sexuality major I HIGHLY recommend this museum, doesn't have much, however, it's perfect for going alone or as a group of 3 or 4. it's a good way to educate yourself a bit with some of the history they have there. Staff members were very nice and helpful too.

The Ellis Island Immigration Museum is located at 17 Battery Place,
New York City and has been open to the public since 1990. Part of the Statue of Liberty National Monument, Ellis Island's museum is located in the former immigration station complex and attracts vistors from around the globe annually.
The museum features films, archives, recordings and photos of the 12 million immigrants who entered the United States through the mouth of the Hudson River in New York Harbor. Nearly 100 million Americans today can trace their immigrant roots to Ellis Island.
All it takes is a $12 ferry ride for adults ($5 for kids) on the Ellis Island-Liberty Island ferry to get to the museum.
If you'd prefer just to sight-see without paying a dime, you can always take a free ride on the Staten Island ferry to view Ellis Island from the Hudson.

A special feature of the Ellis Island museum, the Wall of Honor overlooks the Statue of Liberty and the New York skyline and is the longest wall of names in the world. This is an exciting interactive area at the Ellis Island Immigration Museum. You can access the passenger records of the ships that landed some 22 million immigrants, crew members, and other passengers at the Port of New York and Ellis Island from 1892 to 1924. To prepare for your search, gather as much information as you can, such as: the passenger's first and last names; approximate year of arrival; ethnicity (which may include race, nationality and religion); approximate age on arrival; ship of travel; port of departure; and whether the passenger traveled with other family members. Experienced volunteers can provide guidance so visitors can view manifests and ship images from their ancestor's journey.c

Before being designated as the site of the first Federal immigration station by President Benjamin Harrison in 1890, Ellis Island had a varied history. The local Indian tribes had called it Kioshk or Gull Island. Due to its rich and abundant oyster beds and plentiful and profitable shad runs, it was known as Oyster Island for many generations during the Dutch and English colonial periods. By the time Samuel Ellis became the island's private owner in the 1770's, the island had been called Kioshk, Oyster, Dyre, Bucking and Anderson's Island. In this way, Ellis Island developed from a sandy island that barely rose above the high tide mark, into a hanging site for pirates, a harbor fort, ammunition and ordinance depot named Fort Gibson, and finally into an immigration station. Prior to 1890, individual states regulated immigration into the United States. Castle Garden in the Battery (originally known as Castle Clinton) served as the New York State immigration station from 1855 to 1890 and approximately eight million immigrants, mostly from Northern and Western Europe, passed through its doors. These early immigrants came from nations such as England, Ireland, Germany and the Scandinavian countries, and constituted the first large wave of immigrants that settled and populated the U.S. Throughout the 1800's and intensifying in the latter half of the 19th century, ensuing political instability, restrictive...

The Queens Museum, formerly the Queens Museum of Art, is an art museum and educational center located in Flushing Meadows-Corona Park in the borough of Queens in New York City, United States. The museum is housed in the New York City Building that was constructed for the 1939 World's Fair and hosted the United Nations General Assembly 1946-50. Founded in 1972, the museum houses the well known Panorama of the City of New York, a scale model of the five boroughs built for the 1964 New York World's Fair and the Relief Map of the New York City Water Supply System.

1960s TOUR OF THE UNITED STATES CROSS COUNTRY NEW YORK, CALIFORNIA, HAWAII 11484
Viewers are treated to a “Cross Country” tour of the United States in this episode of Jack Douglas’ America! The episode begins by the camera driving down a rural highway in Georgia. An American flag flies at half-mast at the historical site of the Confederate Army’s Andersonville Prison (01:28). The episode shows the national cemetery with its rows of white tombstones, a statue commemorating the fallen soldiers from the state of Iowa, and the Providence Springs fountain (02:51). Two women walk through the garden at the Juliette Gordon Low House in Savannah, GA (03:20). The episode shows a painting of the woman, who founded the Girl Scouts of America. Her niece, Daisy Gordon Lawrence, speaks to the camera about her aunt. Next, in Luray, VA, viewers see the entrance building to Luray Caverns (04:33). A man plays an organ in the caverns, an organ that uses stalactites for its pipes. Aerial views from a helicopter show off the New York City skyline (05:42) as well as the Statue of Liberty. At the Museum of the City of New York (06:05), viewers see the exhibit of the original bedroom of John D. Rockefeller. At Central Park, a young woman puts on lipstick before playing a game of touch football; the game is between the Broadway Showgirls and the Playboy Bunnies (07:35). Next, the episode travels to Boston (08:15). Fanueil Hall (08:22) is a must-see, and on its top floor is the 1638 Artillery Armory museum. Viewers are then taken to San Francisco’s Steinhart Aquarium in SF (17:05), which features an octopus and an eel. Footage shows driving across Golden Gate Bridge then a shot of the bridge from a distance as it is engulfed in fog (18:16). The last stop of the episode is Hawaii (18:25). The episode visits the East West Center at the University of Hawaii in Honolulu, with its modern architecture and Japanese garden (19:22). A visit to the home of H. Alexander Walker includes touring her lush gardens, highlighted by the orchid section (19:57). A woman demonstrates the art of arranging cut Hawaiian flowers (20:45).
