We take a road trip to Wagga Wagga NSW stopping off at the Bowning Historic Cemetery.
Australian Steam Trains: LVR & 3265 to the Riverina - Part 1
Every year Junee hosts the Rythem & Rail Festival. This festival is a huge part of the yearly calender of Junee. This year it was sponsored by QUBE Logistics & Lachlan Valley Railway were chartered to run Steam & Diesel push pull shuttles in between Junee & Wagga Wagga on Saturday & Sunday 8th & 9th of March. However 3237 was not available at the time so 3265 from the Power House Museum was hired & joined LVR for a trek to the Riverina along the Main Southern region. LVR diesels 4204, 4903 & 4906 also made the venture down along with some ARHS Canberra Cars for shuttles.
The chase began at the Cullerins & finished at Cootamundra.

Ali and Bita Jaber
Ali & Bita Jaber met while studying at university in India, twenty years ago. As members of the Bahá’i faith, tertiary study in Iran, under a fundamentalist Muslim regime was impossible. Life for all members of the Bahá’i faith in Iran was difficult so after marrying in India, Ali & Bita applied to immigrate to Australia.
Ali & Bita preferred life in a smaller regional community therefore Wagga became their chosen place of residence. Both daughters of Ali & Bita were born and raised in Wagga and the family continues to be members of the Bahá’i faith. There are currently around twenty members of the Bahá’i faith in Wagga.
Both Ali & Bita are also been actively involved in supporting other immigrants on their arrival in Wagga. Their community involvement is carried out through their links with the Bahá’i faith, Multicultural organizations and Harmony Week.
In 1996, Bita’s parents, Shah & Feri Khazei came to Wagga on tourist visas and were housed at San Isidore while waiting for their applications for refugee status to be processed. Having arrived in Australia with very few possessions, they were grateful not only for the physical support of the San Isidore community, but also the emotional support of family and new found friends. Shah & Feri stayed at San Isidaore for a year and have settled in Wagga. Friendships formed in that first year continue.
This film was made as part of From All Four Corners, an exhibition at the Museum of the Riverina in partnership with the Migration Heritage Centre in 2007.
