Deaths In Cairo During Protests
Supporters of deposed Egyptian president Mohamed Morsi have clashed with security forces in several cities outside of Cairo, with at least 22 people killed, according to the health ministry.
Activists have reported ongoing protests and clashes in Alexandria, Suez, Assiut and numerous other cities on Wednesday. The government has imposed a curfew in 11 governorates, including Cairo and Giza, which goes into effect at 7pm local time [1700 GMT] and lasts until 6am.
The health ministry reported five people dead in Suez after protesters tried to storm a provincial government office. In Fayoum, southwest of Cairo, at least 17 people were killed in clashes with security forces.
Police fired tear gas in the Nile Delta governorate of Sharqiya in clashes with protesters outside of a mosque.
In Aswan, in southern Egypt, hundreds of pro-Morsi demonstrators attacked the local government offices, throwing stones and attempting to break in, according to local media. The interior ministry said that several police cars were burned in Beni Suef, south of Cairo, and that protesters also set fire to the courthouse.
Local media reported that the main Coptic Christian church in Sohag, in southern Egypt, was burned, and a church in Minya was also set on fire.
There has been a great deal of sectarian rhetoric directed at Copts in recent weeks during pro-Morsi protests, leading to several incidents of churches burned and Christian-owned businesses attacked.
Spreading protests in Cairo
In the northern city of Alexandria, meanwhile, protesters have reportedly blocked the corniche, the main coastal road. An eyewitness there said it was dangerous to move around the city.
Back in the capital, Morsi's supporters have been protesting on Gama'at al-Dowal, a major road in Mohandiseen, a district in western Cairo. Protesters have begun burning tyres outside the Mostafa Mahmoud mosque, according to the interior ministry.
Train services have also been disrupted, according to Egypt's railway authority, and security forces have closed the main highways leading into the capital.
The state-run Al-Ahram newspaper also reported an attack on a police station in Helwan, a neighbourhood in southern Cairo, by dozens of armed Morsi supporters, and state television reported a similar attack in Giza's Waraq district.

If the US president does not carry any proposal for settlement, I don't think he is welcomed by anybody in the region. I think that his visit would only complicate things more, because it would add negative element to an already very turbulent political scene, and this negative element is a US that does not care about the most important issue in the region which is the Palestinian issue.

STORYLINE:
There was a mixed reaction across the Middle East on Wednesday as US President Barack Obama arrived in Tel Aviv on his first visit to Israel since taking office.
The comments were made to coincide with Nowruz, the Persian new year currently being celebrated in Iran.
One middle-aged Tehran resident suggested the US president's visit suggested a new plot and that new sanctions are on the way.

The participation of women in the Egyptian revolution didn't come as a surprise to us, nor do we view it as an extraordinary phenomenon.
Women are part of every society and form a part of the social, political and economical spectrum. It is history that tends in most cases to ostracize the participation of women and keep them in the shadow while highlighting the participation of men and attributing leading roles exclusively to them. This is why we want to document and share Her-story.
This project intends to shed the light on the participation of women and to document their experiences as part of the historical (herstorical) memory of the Egyptian revolution. We also view it as a tool for women empowerment everywhere and as a resource for researchers, students and everyone interested in the matter.

SUMMARY
=======
Egyptians (Egyptian Arabic: مَصريين IPA: [mɑsˤɾɪjˈjiːn]; Maṣreyyīn; Arabic: مِصريّون; Coptic: ⲛⲓⲣⲉⲙⲛ̀ⲭⲏⲙⲓ Ni/rem/en/kīmi) are an ethnic group native to Egypt and the citizens of that country sharing a common culture and a common dialect known as Egyptian Arabic.
Egyptian identity is closely tied to geography. The population of Egypt is concentrated in the lower Nile Valley, the small strip of cultivable land stretching from the First Cataract to the Mediterranean and enclosed by desert both to the east and to the west. This unique geography has been the basis of the development of Egyptian society since antiquity.
The daily language of the Egyptians is the local variety of Arabic, known as Egyptian Arabic or Masri. Additionally, a sizable minority of Egyptians living in Upper Egypt speak Sa'idi Arabic. Egyptians are predominantly adherents of Sunni Islam with a Shia minority and a significant proportion who follow native Sufi orders. A considerable percentage of Egyptians belong to the Coptic Orthodox Church, whose liturgical language, Coptic, is the most recent stage of the indigenous Egyptian language and is still used in prayers along with Arabic.
Cairo cleans-up after sandstorm sweeps through city
LEAD IN:
Cairo residents and businesses are cleaning up after a sandstorm swept through the city.
The weather took a hold for two days - and has left the capital covered in dust.
STORY-LINE:
The sandstorm spread dust across the city - leaving cars covered and in need of a good clean.
And leaves shaken to the ground by high winds litter the streets.
The Egyptian capital was engulfed by the storm for two days.
The weather also shut down the port in the coastal city of Alexandria.
Dozens of ships were prevented from passing through the Suez Canal as high winds and waves hit the vital waterway.
But the storm has passed and today the clean-up is underway.
It is an unusual day, the cars are dirty and dusty, so today we are cleaning (the cars) differently than any other day, says Sayed Saleh, a door man.
It is extra work. We have to wake up early and make an effort to clean the cars.
Hajj Fathy Mustafa, also a door man, is busy cleaning up a street.
He washes and sweeps the sand-covered pavements.
People can't just stay asleep, who is going to come clean for us?, Mustafa asks.
No, everybody who has this duty (being a door man), must carry it out as best as he can, he adds.
Sandstorms are common in Egypt at this time of year.
This is the month of Amshir according to the Coptic Calendar.
And it was named after the Pharaonic God of storms.
Mahmoud Hamed is taking his daughters to school, but not before writing in the dust that's accumulated on his car.
The weather hasn't come as a surprise.
Because we are in the month of Amshir, there is usually dust for one or two days in the year, he says.
The sandstorm is made up of accumulated dust carried from the far reaches of the Sahara Desert in North Africa.
It hit Egypt after a spell of unusually warm and sunny weather.
