Siena and Tuscany's Wine Country
Rick Steves' Europe Travel Guide | Check your local public television station for this Rick Steves’ Europe episode or watch it on Siena, once a proud and independent city-state, retains its confidence and unique traditions. We'll enjoy a front-row seat at its wild horse race — the venerable Palio — and marvel at cultural treasures from the days when it rivaled Florence for leadership of Tuscany. Then we'll head into wine country for a little dolce vita under the Tuscan sun.

Exploring Florence, Italy | Where The Renaissance Began
San Gimignano Wine Tours - Visit vineyards to enjoy red and white wines in Tuscany.
The Tuscan wine tour to enjoy both red and white wines and great lunch at the small winery.
I'm Vittorio Del Bono Venezze and I have designed this wine experience for all the people that love both red and white wines. The tour, in fact, goes to explore two of the most important DOCG region of Tuscany: Chianti Classico which is known for the Sangiovese grapevine, and San Gimignano wine growing region which is famous e for the Vernaccia a great a sapid white wine.
The tour commences in the morning at Piazza Cavalleggeri a central square of Florence. You will meet our English speaking tour guide and with a small minivan, remember this is a small group tour open up to 8 wine enthusiasts, you will be conducted to the first winey set in a beautiful renaissance villa. The winery produces its own grapes organically using only their own grapes. The land is particularly good for the Sangiovese so here the production consists of great Chianti Classico wines. After the visit to the old fifteen-century cellars, we will all gather around a table in a wine tasting room with your wine expert and you will taste very special wine of Chianti. In general Chianti Colli Fiorentini Riserva DOCG, Chianti Classico Riserva DOCG, and Supertuscan IGT.
Time to enjoy the wine and chatting with your wine expert and the staff of the winery and then we will move towards the second winery. This time the cellar is a boutique of wine run by a young couple Francesco and Flavia. Also, this winery produces its own grape organically.

Tuscany Truffle Hunting & Chianti Wine Tour from Florence
This is a shared tour that departs every day from Florence to explore the famous truffle region of San Miniato. You will meet Francesca and her family in a typical Tuscan farm that is set 10 min away from San Miniato.
Tour departs in the morning from Florence at 9:45 am and the meeting point is set in Piazza Cavalleggeri. We will be driving towards San Miniato and the ride will take just 1 hr.
The experience takes place in a forest just 10 min walk from Francesca's farm, this is a private property known for the abundance of truffles and between October and November is an excellent spot to find white precious truffles.
The hike is open to everyone but we discourage people that have bad mobility and since this a food and wine experience open to small groups only, we accept only people with a minimum of 18 yrs old.
The lunch takes place in Francesca's family villa and food is homemade prepared with the freshly found truffles, also the wine comes from Francesca's winery.
After this great lunch, we will be ready to drive toward the Chianti Classico wine region to stop in a very special winery to have a wine tasting of Tuscan wines.
The ride tp the winery is about 40 min long and the winery is set in a renaissance setting that was home of Medici family in the XV century.
You will be exploring the cellar with a knowledge English guide provided by the winery itself and eventually, you will have a guided wine tasting with one of ITALY AND WINE wine experts.
At about 4 pm we will be all ready to go back to Florence where we will be arriving by 4:45 p.m.

Driving the Streets of Firenze / Florence Italy
The streets there are incredibly narrow. I would classify it as a sport, even at low speeds. I'm not sure how I managed to fit my VW Golf rental around that city. It was a challenge to say the least.
