24 Hours In Cambodia | Private Sunrise Tour $110- WORTH IT?
Since I went to Siem Reap alone, I got a private guide and driver. Let's get this out of the way first, How much did it cost? It cost me $110 USD , for a 10 hour experience. Now the cost would be reduced by almost half if you were with a friend, and a third if you with another, and so on, and so forth. I felt this was the best choice for me, to get the full experience, be able to video and speak freely, and move about in as little or as much time as I wanted. Plus, he took some really awesome photos for me! The entrance fee is $20 (£15) to $37 (£28) for a one-day pass, a three-day pass from $40 (£31) to $62 (£48) and a seven-day ticket from $60 (£46) to $72 (£55)
The visa system was extremely efficient. Don't forget to bring a photo, but if you do, they have people who can photograph you at an inexpensive cost, but it'll take time. For me, I had a photo with me and filled out the visa form in line- it took me about 10 minutes.
That evening, I went to the market to buy some clothes that will cover my knees and shoulders. The temples have a strictly enforced, no exposed body parts, rule.
The first temple I went to, is Angkor Wat and I went at 5am for sunrise. I enjoyed the whole experience, albeit tiring.
I just wanted to say, at about 4:50, the statue isn't a hindu statue but rather a buddhist statue with a buddhist robe, but an example of one is in 6:40 (Hindu God Vishnu with a Buddhist robe). To get the full effect of the echo room: listen with headphones- the reverb is seriously cool!
The second temple I went to is Phnom Bakheng Temple. It has 5 tiers and overlooks Angkor Wat. The third temple is called Bayon Temple- a temple known for the many heads that face in all directions. It's really magnificent there.
Ta Keo Temple is fourth- beautiful too- lots to steps though. But what really stood out to me about this temple is kindness. I joined some locals for beers ($1USD), and there was a chance you'd win another beer with the beer (it was one of those, lift the top of the can, kind of contest/games). I bought a round ($6USD) and won a free beer too. It's ridiculous, a drink in Canada is about $10...
The fifth and last temple is Ta Prohm Temple- tomb raider temple had a lot of really interesting tree growth. By this time, I was sooooo tired. So it was nice to end the tour with a Hollywood film location :)
That evening, I took the tuk tuk (the motorcycle buggies) to the circus (Phare). For $18 USD, I'd recommend it. It's interesting, teaches you a bit about culture, it gives you a chance to support local artists.
These take a long time to make, so if you liked it, let me know by:

Trip from Siem Reap to Phnom Penh, Cambodia by private car
In this video we travel from Siem Reap to Phnom Penh, Cambodia. We hire a driver in a Lexus for comfort and ease of the commute. A 6 hour drive with a couple of stops along the way, where we had morning tea overlooking a lake and another stop to taste the delicacy of a fried tarantula spider.
Cambodia - How to travel around? Angkor Wat, Phnom penh to Koh Rong.
Cambodia
Cambodia is an amazing country. But of course we heard different stories: some travelers told us Cambodians are the friendliest people ever! We also heard they are impolite and annoying. So like always – the best way is to find it out yourself: We loved the country and the people, they were really kind.
General Information
To enter Cambodia you need to pay for the visa. This is not a big deal – visa on arrival costs about 30 USD (you have to pay in US-Dollars). When you arrive at the airport of Siem Reap you will even find an ATM next to the immigration desk (fee is 5 USD). And yes, US-Dollar is the main currency in Cambodia which is really strange, but you get used to it. They also use the currency called Riel, but most of the time they only use it as change. 1 USD corresponds to 4.000 Riel (So 1.000 Riel = 25 Cents).
What are the highlights of Cambodia?
In general Cambodia is an easy country to travel around and well connected. We haven’t seen much of the east of the country, so we cannot give you any advice about that. All places we visited we travelled by bus – we always went for the cheapest deals and it was always a save way to travel (regarding Southeast Asian standards, but we have experienced worse). Below you can find our route and highlights of Cambodia.
Siem Reap
If there is any must-see in Cambodia it’s Siem Reap and the temple of Ankor Wat. You need at least one or two days to visit this stunning temple complex. The city itself is quite touristy though, so to experience the real Cambodian lifestyle you either need to get out of the city or visit some other less frequented places of Cambodia. It is definitely worth it to hire some bikes or a scooter and get out of the city center for a while.
Battambang
That’s why we visited Battambang or Battambong – we wanted to see a ‘normal’ Cambodian city. Battambang is actually not that small, as it is the second biggest city of Cambodia. Of course there are also some tourist attractions you could visit (and especially Tuk Tuk drivers beg you to visit them):
-the bamboo train
-the killing cave
-the bad cave
-the circus
Koh Rong Samloem
Koh Rong is famous! People tell you the sand is white and the parties are wild. Jungle parties, drugs, loud music, so it is actually a little bit confusing, when you start your research about the Koh Rong islands. We read many reviews, talked to people and heard different stories. Some people say it is heaven on earth, on the other hand we heard the parties can be annoying and the beach is dirty. So at the end we didn’t go to Koh Rong, but to Koh Rong Samloem – the smaller island. Compared to the big one, it is relaxed, calm and clean – but no parties (for everyone who is into parties)! Here you can find your inner peace and even the sea is very calm.
Kampot
Kampot is another great city to experience the relaxed Cambodian lifestyle. You will meet many expats over here as well. One of the highlights is to visit the salt and pepper field. You can book a tuk tuk tour or just hire a bike and go there. On the way you will drive through smaller, poorer villages, but the people are so happy to see you.
Phnom Penh
The capital of Cambodia is huge – this is probably also the reason why many people told us they don’t like Phnom Penh. “It’s dirty and dangerous”. But that’s not true! If you visit the right spots and if you stay at right places, the city is actually quite nice. The Indepence Monument looks great as well as the Royal Palace. Every now and then, when you walk through Phnom Penh you see some nice squares, statues or buildings. It is also the place where you can learn about the sad history of Cambodia – the Khmer Rouge. The Khmer Rouge killed more than a third of the population of Cambodia – also many women and children. It is very hard to understand how this could happen. When you do a Tuk Tuk tour you can visit the Toul sleng Museum and killing fields. Start with the museum on day one. Don’t do both on one day as it is very hard to digest. Our Advice: Read the book ‘First they killed my father’ by Loung Ung.

Silk Island Village Day Trip, Cambodia (Phnom Penh)
Silk Island Village Day Trip to see some silk worms do their thing!
Hi guys! If you're in Phnom Penh and would like to see a traditional village without hoards of tourists be sure to make a day-trip to Prey BongKong Village. It's only 30 minutes from Phnom Penh by ferry, but you will feel like you're so far away from the city!
It's always a great visit at Chan Nara's silk house! You can get here with a bicycle tour, tuk-tuk or you can rent your own moto/bicycle and drive across yourself. The Diamond Island/ Arey K'sat ferry ride is 10 minutes and costs only 500 riel pp (12 cents USD)
You will find many Silk House options to tour from Phnom Penh. I have known Nara for many years and I like visiting Chan Nara as there are fewer tourists than Koh Dach and you get a private tour and a more traditional experience.
Entry to Chan Nara Silk House is always FREE and you can book a homemade local, organic lunch (vegetarian options available) with her for $7USD pp (minimum 2 pax). She will give you all the information about the making of silk from the hatching of eggs all the way to the weaving of the product. You can even try the spindle and the loom yourself!
We recommend you support local Cambodian artisans and purchase something from her shop (but she will never pressure you to do so), she can also create custom made designs for you!
If you would like to spend a whole day on Arey Ksat island you can book a traditional horse cart for $6 USD (for the whole cart) and be sure to visit the beautiful Prek Bongkong Pagoda and have a chat with the monks!
You can reach Chan Nara on facebook: Nara Silk
By phone +855 17-73-03 or +855 10 35 08 78
To reach the Silk House:
Take the Kampong Chamlong Phnom Penh Areiy Ksatr Ferry from Phnom Penh (close to Koh Pich)
After exiting the ferry, go straight 850m and turn left at the Tela Petrol Station (st.380)
Continue on that road for 3.0 km.
Weaving Commune and Chan Nara's silk house will be on your right side.
Stay tuned for my vlog about other things to do in Arey K'sat!

Cambodia tourtuk-tuks
We enjoyed taking the local transportation commonly known as the tuk-tuks.
What's fun about using the tuk-tuks getting around the city or a village in Cambodia is that it is much cooler because it's open to nature and the elements. But when the rain comes all they do is roll down some canvas covers to protect us from the rain.
But when it's hot it's so comfortable to feel the breeze as you maneuver through the traffic of the big city. Also it's very cheap and inexpensive on the average anywhere from two dollars to five dollars to go from 2 miles to 10 miles.
You can rent a man in his tuk-tuks for approximately $20 a day and they can take you to all of the tourist sites, the airport, hotels, department stores just about anywhere you want to go.

About Me:
My name is Kevin Cook. I'm originally from Dallas, TX, but I've been living and traveling in Asia since 2013.
After graduating from university in 2011 and working a few unfulfilling jobs, I saved enough money to move to Asia and work as a teacher for a few years. That opportunity allowed me to travel around and experience new foods and cultures, and ignited a passion for blogging and making videos.
Now I travel full-time and make videos with the goal that I can encourage YOU to pursue your own dream of overseas traveling and living.

$5 HOTEL ROOMS CAMBODIA
Is it possible to still get a $5 Hotel room? The answer is yes but you may not have air-conditioning, television, Internet access.
I'm talking about a hotel room not a youth hostel.
It is possible to get a $5 room in a hotel with your own private bathroom.
If you increase your budget to $15 for a hotel room you can get the conveniences of air-conditioning, television, and Internet.
I will show you one budget hotel and one more upgraded hotel.
( for you who are able to splurge this one is for you.)
Even when we are traveling and stay in the $18 Hotel rooms sometimes we like to upgrade to a $35 room and when we really want to splurge will pay $45. To $60.
Because we have the luxury of traveling for long periods of times
( six months plus at a time ) we can actually rent an apartment that can bring that cost out to about $20 to $35 dollars a night for a very nice upgraded apartment.
( fully furnished ) by renting an apartment we save money on food.We prepare our own food and we eat much healthier foods this way.
Typically in Asia you will get breakfast along with your hotel room rates.
Asia is a bargain and a real value for travel starting with hotel rooms, food and transportation.

Cambodia Bus Travel (Siem Reap to Battambang)
There are several bus companies works between Siem Reap and Battambang. Most buses depart from Chong Kov Sou bus station (2km from town center) but you have to ask the ticket agent to make sure. Bus ticket prices (depending on the company) $3-10. At the time that we take a bus from Siem Reap to Battambang (12.2013) Phnom Penh Sorya Transport and VGS Travel & Tours bus companies were the best ones but dont forget this can change easily. Bus ride takes around 4-5 hours but delays are common. Almost any travel or tour agent around Siem Reap can book your seat and print your ticket.
Seats were comfortable but you have to listen Cambodian karaoke videos all the way and sound was pretty high. There was one stop for 30 minutes at the middle of the road. You can use toilets, buy some fruit or drinks. There are other transportation options between Siem Reap - Battambang like boat (depending on season) and private taxi.

Speedboat from Siem Reap to Phnom Penh
What a way to travel! I took the boat from Siem Reap to Phnom Penh. Booked the ticket at my guesthouse the day before and a driver picked me up and dropped me in downtown Siem Reap. From there we loaded onto a small bus for a 20 minute ride to the boat dock. THen it's an easy 5-6 hours on the boat motoring down rivers and across the Tonle Sap. Most of the journey can be spent on top of the boat and beers are available for $2! Amazing way to travel and see life on the river. It does cost about 3x as much as the bus - i believe i paid $32.
Asia's Most UNDERRATED Landmark?! (Angkor Temples)
Are you on Instagram? Join me @drewbinsky!
EVER BEEN TO CAMBODIA? If not, then you’re in for a treat when you hear about these magical Angkor Temples (also where the movie Tomb Raider was filmed)!!
I’m thrilled to be back in Siem Reap, Cambodia for the first time in 4.5 years — the town has evolved a lot since I last remembered. Today I went on a tour that I found on KKday, in which a private guide named Lonh showed us all over this ancient city. I learned so much in one day that I can't even begin to explain -- so I hope you learn a thing or two in this video!
Do you also agree that the Angkor temples in Cambodia are the most underrated landmark in Asia? If not, then what is?

Cambodia Monkey Ladder | Backpacker Group Tour | TruTravels
12 Days in Cambodia? Get the most out of it with TruTravels' Monkey Ladder trip. Designed by backpackers for backpackers, we get in all the best bits in just under two weeks so you can experience the many contrasting sides of this amazing country.
Phnom Penh - Sihanoukville - Koh Rong Samloem - Kampot - Siem Reap
What's included in this tour? On arrival we offer an airport pickup & taxi to Mad Monkey in Phnom Penh. Private mini buses and taxi's are also included between destinations. We will make our way to Sihanoukville which has awesome night life and one of the best booze cruise boat tours Cambodia has to offer.
After partying it up in Sihanoukville, we get to relax on the white sandy beaches of Koh Rong Samloem. If you can imagine paradise, this place is it. We also provide a boat trip where we do some snorkelling and fishing. We even get to cook the fish we catch! Great food, cold drinks and hammock swings to lounge in...What more can you ask for?! Leaving Koh Rong, we make our way to the next Mad Monkey hostel located in Kampot where we head out on a river cruise to take in the scenery. (We will also take our Trutravellers to a restaurant where they cook the juiciest, most mouth watering pork you have ever eaten, guaranteed.)
Phnom Penh is our second last destination and here we get to learn about the history of Cambodia's capital city and why it is what it is today. Exploring the Killing Fields and S21, this is truly an eye opening part of the tour that people need to experience for themselves at least once.
Lastly, we arrive in Siem Reap. For some, this is the place that people are most excited for. Why? The amazing Angkor Wat that was built in the 12th century. An early wake up but worth it as we catch the sunrise peak over the tip of the main temple. We also wander through the temples of Angkor Thom right next to Angkor Wat. In the night time, we have our last dinner with the group and party it up on the infamous Pub Street
We say our goodbyes but before that, Trutravels staff makes sure that you have all your onward travel planned and organized.
