Working on ships, I get to visit a lot of places. Even better being crew I sometimes can walk around the islands before the passengers are off the ship. This is just a walkthrough of Mystery Island in Vanuatu. One of my favourite places in the world. Beautiful soft sand and crystal clear waters.

'Carnival Spirit' cruise - Mystery Island visit 26th December 2019.
00:01 - Tender ride from ship to the island jetty and a quick look at the immediate beach area.
01:30 - A look around the market stalls.
02:30 - A swim in the beach and first snorkeling here.
04:51 - A small boat ride to snorkel and look for turtles - we found some!
06:12 - Turtle!
09:48 - Underwater footage of many fish - we even found Nemo!

20:25 - Boat ride to the mainland which is the nearby island Aneityum Island.

Something very strange about this visit was the cultural performers singing Hoki Mai which is a Maori song written in New Zealand (by Henare Waitoa in Ruatoria in 1946 to be precise) in Maori... for Maori... why were Vanuatu islanders singing this song on their island? Cultural Misappropriation? I wonder how many tourists even realize they are singing something from another country in another language entirely... I doubt the Aussies on this trip even noticed either!

This island is one of the nicest we have ever seen, even before we had cameras with us.
Definitely a must see on anyone's schedule around the Pacific Islands.

Mystery Island, Vanuatu
Mystery Island was one of the real surprises on a recent visit to New Caledonia on board the Celebrity Solstice. The Island is basically a sand bar with a grass runway on top of it but it's beauty is unmatched in the area. The views of the bay were stunning and the pictures & footage I managed to grab were nothing short of exceptional! Wow, what a day!

Got woken up early to head on over to Mystery Island, Vanuatu! Oh man the water was so blue I couldn't believe it! I did some snorkelling and also managed to get bitten by a fish, dam thing! Anyway, I think my skins finally had enough and I'm starting to peel and burn but oh well let's bring on NEW CALEDONIA!!

Mystery Island is a tiny, uninhabited islet in Vanuatu’s Tafea Province, officially charted under the indigenous name Inyeug. Other than an airstrip, built by United States Military personnel to serve the nearby island of Aneityum, Mystery Island only has a few huts for overnighters, modern amenities for cruise passengers and some trails that bisect the island.

Mystery Island is a hidden paradise and is one of the many islands that make up Vanuatu. Long white beaches, palm trees, excellent snorkelling and friendly locals make it as close to a perfect desert island that you could imagine.
