Chinese New Year in Japan? (Nagasaki's famous Lantern Festival)
In this episode:
It's vlog Sunday once again, and this time, I am sharing with you how Chinese New year is celebrated in one of Japan's most diverse places: Nagasaki City! Yes, there is Chinese New Year here, and it's in the form the of the Nagasaki Lanter Festival. It is a magnificent festival to attend, and we are taking you there.
But aside from the Lantern festival, what makes this episode fun are the things I did and stops I went to with some of my friends, who you've already seen before.

Japan has always been among the top destinations in the world. But it is more than just Tokyo, Osaka, ramen and cherry blossoms. Join me as I take you to some of the places and show you some of the things I experience as an ordinary person working and living here. Nothing fancy. Simply Emman in Japan.

Nagasaki lantern festival 2016 dragon dance
The live percussion and the dance itself were pretty amazing. It's a shame my phone ran out of battery, as the finale was the best part. I'll definitely come back next year. In addition, there was also the lion dance.

The international students from Brazil, China, Korea, Nepal, Philippines, Taiwan, Thailand and Vietnam present traditional dances, music and food together with the Japanese students, having a good time.
The money raised that day was donated to Nepal to help with the recovery of the earthquake in May.

Haunted Hiroshima; From disaster to the rebirth of a true treasure.
For a very long time now, I wanted to do a video on Hiroshima; both because of my interest in the hauntings that are reported from here as well as my love of this city in general. Here is my attempt to combine the two. As stated in the video, what is most important is the call to arms to my fellow performance artists revealed at the end. Please give it as chance. This may be what you are looking for and as always, feel free to contact me for any more information. If I can help, I will.
P.S.
The jizo statue shown after the three minuet mark is a survivor of the blast found near the Atomic Bomb Dome. The underside of the statue is darkened by the intensity of the heat and light of the explosion. It was kept exactly where it originally was and buildings were built up around it (it appears to be at the entrance or a garage) as a show of respect to its spirit of perseverance.

Among the women living and working within this quarter, the oiran, or Japanese courtesans, were the most prominent, choosing from among the wealthiest and most powerful citizens for their clientele.
Many of the distinguished and important among the town would visit the oiran to show off their wealth and statute in the community.
Oiran were masters of arts and entertainment, becoming highly educated in skills such as cyadou (Japanese tea ceremony), ikebana (Flower arranging), calligraphy, among other cultural arts and were also very skilled and eloquent conversationalists.
