MACTAN CEBU - ISLAND TOUR (NALUSUAN, HILUTUNGAN ISLAND)

We woke up early that morning for the island hopping in Mactan. When I hear about islands in Cebu, the first thing that usually comes to mind are Bantayan and Malapascua etc. Well, those islands are actually very far from the city and that would take hours of travel time.It’s about time for you to know that there are beautiful islands near Mactan Cebu that are equally stunning and most of them are Marine Sanctuaries.
After a few more minutes of travel time, we arrived at Nalusuan Island.
The long pathway made of wood going to the island itself has already created an impression. The water was crystal clear and there are a lot of fishes to see while walking.
Nalusuan is actually a man-made island resort operated and owned by Nalusuan Island Resort and Marine Sanctuary. This used to be just a sandbar but later reclaimed and developed into a resort. A part of the Olango Group of islands (Olango Reef) and located between the province of Bohol and Mactan, Cebu. Technically, Nalusuan is under the jurisdiction of Cordova, Cebu.
Once we arrived at the resort, the first thing I noticed was the restaurant. Haha not because I was starving but it was really the first structure to welcome you to the island. Maria, our tour guide, said that while our lunch was being prepared we can explore the island.
How to get to Nalusuan Island?
As for us, a chartered boat fetched us from the shores of Shangrila Mactan Cebu where we stayed.
For DIY travel, from Mactan Airport, take a taxi tell him to take you to Movenpick Hotel Mactan Island Resort. The port where you can find the boats for hire can be found beside the resort. If you are coming from the Cebu port. Just ask around and there are boats there available for rent. Haggle with the price as well as be clear with the number of islands that you want to explore. Just be sure sure to include Nalusuan Island.

ISLAND HOPPING IN CEBU - Nalusuan, Gilutongan, & Caohagan Islands
Cebu Province in the Philippines is surrounded with many other small islands which are all blessed with fish-filled waters and white sand beaches. In this trip, we chose to visit 3 of the nearest islands from the city. We took the 'banca' in Cordova, Mactan Island and visited Nalusuan, Gilutongan and Caohagan Islands. We did snorkeling the whole day, soaked our bodies in the clear blue waters and took our lunch in the middle of the sea.

Cebu is located in the middle of the Philippine islands. Known as a world class diving destination because of its water temperature through the year which is 27-30C, the best for tropical fishes and drop off with the coral terrace around the island that has the water depth of 30m-50m that goes up to 50m-300m depth with 45 degree sloop.
The popular diving spots destination are Hilutungan Island, the Moalboal and Pescador in the southern part of Cebu, Cabilao and Balicasag in Bohol, Apo Island in Negros and Siquijor Island.
However, because of the distant of some diving spots, Mactan Island in Cebu is already enough for divers who are billeted at area resorts, they opted to dive in a neighborhood diving spots, the likes of Hilutungan Island, a marine and fish sanctuary, the Mactan Island dives is now being enjoyed by divers, the Tingo Island dive, where you can find by chance a Thresher shark. Aside from being a perfect diving spots, Mactan, Cebu is also accessible to have it on season and weather timing, among others.
