When a nobleman of the 12th century took his daughter for her first visit to temples and shrines of Nara he wrote in his diary as follows: On our way many deer appeared in the morning darkness. This is a sign from the gods and a good omen. When one counters deer, he or she should get out of the carriage and bow to them.
Nara’s deer inspired Basho to create a haiku, when he came across a baby deer born on the very day of the Buddha's Birthday, 8 April.

DEER ATTACKED ME! ⚔????✈️ - Nara Park, Life in Japan, VLOG Ep 23
Without any prior research, we headed to Nara hoping to see the famous deers. But the trip started from the temple area called Kofuku-ji temple, which is consited of many temples such as five stored pagoda, hokuendo hall, and nanendo hall.
Then we got sidetracked and started spending much of our time eating Yomogi Mochi from Nakatanidou without seeing a single deer.
We managed get back on track and bought some deer senbei rice crackers. With no surprise, we soon after saw the famous Nara deers, where we got....

Kofuku-ji Temple in Nara-Japan!
Kofukuji is a Buddhist temple, and is located about 1km southwest of Todaiji Temple. It is at the west end of Nara Park. This temple is one of 9 constructions of Historic Monuments of Ancient Nara designated as a World Heritage Site. This temple was founded in 669 by Kamatari Fujiwara (614-669), who was the ancestor of Fujiwara Clan which had been a noble family from ancient times to medieval times. The original temple was built in Kyoto, but Fuhito Fujiwara (659-720), Kamatari's son, moved to the current place in 710, because Nara became the capital of Japan.
Fujiwara Clan had power and position, so this temple was enlarged by not only the clan but also the government.
And this temple had been the center of power through ancient and medieval times.
But this temple became a normal temple after the foundation of Edo government in the early 17th century.

Fantastic Places in Cool Japan :
In the vicinity of Nara Park, there is a famous temple called Kofukuji Temple, which aligns with Todai-ji Temple.
Kofuku-ji is famous for the Ashura statue, but it was also famous for its powerful monks. In the Kamakura period and the Muromachi period, they were practically the leader of the country. It continued until it gave way to Nobunaga Oda and Hideyoshi Toyotomi.
