National Botanic Garden of Wales in Winter
A family visit to the National Botanic Gardens of Wales in Llanarthne, Carmarthenshire.
During the month of January, the gardens are free during the week and a reduced rate on the weekend. As we were driving back from a mini-break to Tenby we thought we would pop in for an hour or two and make the most of it and let the kids run off steam.
The gardens are lovely and quiet this time of the year, unlike summer. The dome is a great place to explore (and warm-up) with Meditteranean gardens. There are also lots of walled-gardens, sculpture trails, children's playground, Japanese garden, allotments, peace statue and the Birds of Prey. During January the butterfly garden is closed due to maintenance but there is plenty of other places to explore.
