MICHAEL JACKSON'S NEVERLAND RANCH LOS OLIVOS CALIFORNIA
Trip to ????MICHAEL JACKSON ????????Neverland Valley Ranch
Neverland Valley Ranch (renamed Sycamore Valley Ranch) is a developed property in Santa Barbara County, California, located at 5225 Figueroa Mountain Road, Los Olivos, California 93441, that was first named Neverland in 1988. It is most famous for being the home of the American entertainer Michael Jackson. Jackson named the property after Neverland, the fantasy island in the story of Peter Pan, a boy who never grows up. Jackson's first encounter with the ranch came when he visited Paul McCartney, who was staying there during their filming of the Say Say Say video. According to La Toya Jackson, Michael expressed interest to her in someday owning the property at that time.
Today, the ranch is owned by Colony NorthStar. The ranch is located about 5 miles (8 km) north of unincorporated Los Olivos, and about eight miles (13 km) north of the town of Santa Ynez. The Chamberlin Ranch is to the west, and the rugged La Laguna Ranch, is to the north. The Santa Barbara County Assessor's office says the ranch is approximately 3,000 acres (1214 hectares
The estate was originally known as the Zaca Laderas Ranch at the time of its purchase by the property developer William Bone in 1977. Bone renamed the estate the Sycamore Valley Ranch and moved there with his family. Bone commissioned the architect Robert Altevers to design the principal buildings on the ranch, and the pair spent two and a half years researching potential designs and ideas. The 13,000 square feet (1,200 m²) main house was completed in 1982, based on a design by architect Robert Altevers, with formal gardens, a stone bridge, and a four-acre lake with a five-foot waterfall. Bone later said that in building the house he had ...a desire to express everything I had learned in 15 years of home building...I achieved here all the things I wanted to do in my business but could not. He had considered converting the property to a country club but did not do so.
Michael Jackson purchased the estate from Bone in 1988 for an amount that is not certain. Some sources indicate $19.5 million while others suggest it was closer to $30 million US dollars. The property was initially purchased by a trust with Jackson's lawyer, John Branca, and his accountant, Marshall Gelfand, as trustees, for reasons of privacy. The arrangement was later rescinded by Jackson in April 1988 and he became the ultimate owner of the property. It was Jackson's home as well as his private amusement park and it contained a floral clock, numerous artistic garden statues featuring children, and a petting zoo. The amusement park included two railroads: one 3 ft (914 mm) narrow gauge named Neverland Valley Railroad with a steam locomotive named Katherine after his mother built 1973 with two coaches), and the other a 2 ft (610 mm) narrow gauge with a locomotive named C. P. Huntington made by Chance Rides. There was also a Ferris wheel, Carousel, Zipper, Octopus, Pirate Ship, Wave Swinger, Super Slide, roller coaster, bumper cars, and an amusement arcade. The master closet also contained a secret safe room for security. Jackson was also an avid art collector.
Some of the events that took place at the Ranch included the wedding of Elizabeth Taylor and Larry Fortensky in 1991, the live Oprah Winfrey interview of Jackson in 1993, and an event in 1995 when Jackson and Lisa Marie Presley hosted children from around the world.
Neverland Ranch was searched extensively by police officers in connection with the People v. Jackson trial after he was charged with multiple counts of molesting a minor in 2003. Jackson was acquitted of all charges. However, Jackson stated he would never live at the property again as he no longer considered the ranch a home and did not return to Neverland. He stated he felt the 70 police officers had violated the property in their searches.Jackson's sister, La Toya, wrote of her experience staying at the ranch during her brothers trial in her 2012 memoir Starting Over.In 2006, the facilities were closed and most of the staff were dismissed, with a spokesperson stating that this was the reflection of the fact that Jackson no longer lived there.

MICHAEL JACKSON GIVES UP NEVERLAND DEEDS
Michael Jackson has given up title to his Neverland ranch, transferring the deed to a company he partly controls.
The singer filed a grant deed on the ranch Monday that makes the new owner an entity called the Sycamore Valley Ranch Co. LLC, Tom Pearson of the Santa Barbara County clerk-recorder's office said Wednesday (12 NOV 2008).
Sycamore Valley Ranch Co. is a joint venture between Jackson and an affiliate of Colony Capital LLC, according to a person with knowledge of the transaction who was not authorised to speak on the record and requested anonymity.
The person could not say what would become of the 2,500-acre (1,012-hectare) property located in the bucolic, oak-studded hills of Santa Barbara County's wine country, 120 miles (193 kilometers) northwest of Los Angeles.
A call to an attorney for Jackson, L. Londell McMillan, was not immediately returned Wednesday.
Jackson had gone into default on the $24.5 million he owes on the property and had faced foreclosure before Colony Capital bailed him out earlier this year by purchasing his loan.
Pearson said the deed did not indicate who owns Sycamore.
A listing on the California secretary of state's Web site says the company filed with the state in June.
It does not identify its owners, but the company has the same Century City address as Colony Capital LLC.
Colony Capital is a Los Angeles-based real estate investment company run by billionaire Tom Barrack.
It owns several properties in Las Vegas, including the Las Vegas Hilton.
The property was called Sycamore Valley Ranch before Jackson bought it in 1988 and began turning it into a miniature amusement park with a zoo, Ferris wheel, roller coaster and other rides.
At the height of his popularity, the superstar invited thousands of children to play on the grounds.
He renamed the ranch after the mythical land of Peter Pan and set about creating the magical childhood experiences he said his career as a child star had denied him.
Jackson has struggled to pay his debts since his financial empire began to crumble following his arrest in 2003 on charges that he molested a 13-year-old boy at the ranch.
He has not been seen in the Los Olivos area since a jury acquitted him of all charges, and recent aerial photos show the ranch beginning to fall into disrepair.

NEVERLAND TO BE SITE OF JACKSON MEMORIAL?
Heavy construction equipment and workers passed through the wrought-iron gates of Neverland Ranch, fuelling speculation that it could soon be hosting a funeral or a permanent memorial to Michael Jackson.
The activity occurred Tuesday (30 JUNE 2009), the day before Jackson's will was expected to be filed in court.
Santa Barbara County officials said there were no final decisions by the Jackson family for any funeral or memorial service in the county or at Neverland.
All the same, more than a dozen vehicles, including a tractor, a cement mixer and a backhoe, along with groups of gardeners and florists bearing huge wreaths, were spotted on the property about 120 miles northwest of Los Angeles.
Once a symbol of Jackson's success and excesses, Neverland - the 2,500-acre property nestled in the hills of Santa Barbara County's wine country - became the site of a makeshift memorial after his death Thursday.
Members of Jackson's family met Tuesday with officials from the Los Angeles police and California Highway Patrol about funeral services, but details are still pending, according to Fran Clader, a spokeswoman for the patrol.
The patrol would need to be consulted if the body was moved from Los Angeles to Neverland.
Fearing the narrow, two-lane Figueroa Mountain Road that runs past Neverland will be overwhelmed by media and fans, county officials said Wednesday that they'll start enforcing parking restrictions.
It was unclear whether Jackson could be legally buried at the ranch.
The state's health and safety code makes interring any un-cremated remains outside of a cemetery a misdemeanour.
Cremated remains can be kept in a home or private mausoleum outside a cemetery, he said.

MICHAEL JACKSON SAVES NEVERLAND RANCH FROM PUBLIC AUCTION
Michael Jackson has refinanced Neverland Ranch in time to save his famed California spread from a public auction that was scheduled for later this month.
Jackson attorney L. Londell McMillan told The Associated Press on Thursday that the pop star has worked out a confidential agreement with Fortress Investment Group, LLC. The deal allows him to retain ownership of the famed property in Los Olivos.
Neverland and MJ are fine, McMillan said.
An auction date had been set for March 19 because of $24.5 million (US dollars) the singer owed on the 2,500-acre (1011.74 hectares) spread northwest of Santa Barbara.
A source close to the singer who requested anonymity because of the sensitivity of the matter said it's not clear whether Jackson will keep Neverland.
Jackson has not lived there since his acquittal on child molestation charges in 2005.

Neverland Ranch in Santa Barbara County, Los Angeles' Forest Lawn cemetery and the singer's hometown
HEADLINE: Where will Michael Jackson be buried?
---------------------------------------
CAPTION: The burial place of Michael Jackson is still unknown. Neverland Ranch in Santa Barbara County, Los Angeles' Forest Lawn cemetery and the singer's hometown of Gary, Indiana are all being considered as possible final resting places . (July 8)

IMMEDIATELY AFTER THE EMOTIONAL MEMORIAL TO MICHAEL JACKSON ENDED, THE SPECULATION BEGAN AS TO WHERE THE KING OF POP WOULD BE LAID TO REST. THE WHEREABOUTS OF THE BODY REMAINS A CLOSELY GUARDED SECRET. SOME SAY THE SINGER'S CHOICE FOR HIS FINAL RESTING PLACE WOULD BE NEVERLAND RANCH, WHICH COULD TURN IT INTO A GRACELAND-LIKE ATTRACTION. BUT THAT LOCATION INVOLVES PERMIT PROBLEMS WHICH COULD TAKE YEARS TO RESOLVE.
FOREST LAWN MEMORIAL PARK IN THE HOLLYWOOD HILLS IS ANOTHER LIKELY CHOICE, BUT FANS WOULD HAVE TO GET PERMISSION FROM THE FUNERAL COMPANY TO VISIT THE HIGHLY-SECURED CEMETERY. MEANWHILE, OFFICIALS IN JACKSON'S HOMETOWN OF GARY, INDIANA ARE REQUESTING THAT THE BODY BE BURIED THERE.
Haven Daley, The Associated Press, says: While the family has not yet revealed burial plans, fans here in Hollywood definitely have an opinion as to where they'd like to see the King of Pop laid to rest.
Norma Gupton, Arizona, says: Neverland because that's a place that he created and he was very happy there.
Zipporah O'Neal, Washington, DC, says: I think he should be buried home in Indiana because that's where most of his family's probably at.
Kendall Coyer, Los Angeles, says: Here in LA I think because that's where everyone is and where he performed alot.
Patricia Brenner, Miami, says: I heard a rumor that he wanted to be buried in London so we'll see how that pans out.
WHEREVER THE FAMILY DECIDES TO BURY JACKSON'S BODY, IT WILL LIKELY BECOME ONE THE MOST-VISITED GRAVESITES IN THE WORLD. HAVEN DALEY, THE ASSOCIATED PRESS, LOS ANGELES.
