Created in the 1950s, this vintage film was made by Greyhound Bus Lines to promote their charter and tour services. As passenger railroads went into decline and America's highway system reached a new level of complexity, bus services such as Greyhound began to experience a surge in business. The Greyhound Escorted Tour promoted in this film proved highly successful with passengers from all walks of life signing up for multi-day trips to scenic destinations like the Grand Canyon and other National Parks, Washington D.C., New York, San Francisco, and other major American cities.
Greyhound Lines, Inc., usually shortened to Greyhound, is an intercity bus common carrier serving over 3,800 destinations across the United States, Canada, and Mexico. Founded in Hibbing, Minnesota in 1914, and taking the name The Greyhound Corporation in 1929, the company has been based in Dallas, Texas since 1987. Currently, British transportation company FirstGroup owns and operates Greyhound as a division of FirstGroup America.
After World War II, and the building of the Interstate Highway System beginning in 1956, automobile ownership and travel became a preferred mode of travel in the United States. Along with a similar downward trend in public transportation in general, ridership on Greyhound and Trailways bus routes began a long decline.
The Civil Rights Movement of the 1950s and 60s had a connection to the Greyhound company. In 1955, the Interstate Commerce Commission ruled in the case of Keys v. Carolina Coach Co. that U.S. interstate bus operations, such as Greyhound's, could not be segregated by race. In 1960, in the case of Boynton v. Virginia, the U.S. Supreme Court found that an African American had been wrongly convicted of trespassing in a whites only terminal area and in May 1961, civil rights activists organized interracial Freedom Rides as proof of the desegregation rulings. On May 14, a mob attacked pair of buses (a Greyhound and a Trailways) traveling from Washington, D.C., to New Orleans, Louisiana, and slashed the Greyhound bus's tires. Titles II and III of the Civil Rights Act of 1964 broadened protections beyond federally-regulated carriers such as Greyhound, to include non-discrimination in hotels, restaurants, and other public accommodations, as well as state and local government buildings
Later in the 1960s, Greyhound leadership saw a trend of declining ridership and began significant changes, including using the profitable bus operations to invest in other industries. By the 1970s, Greyhound had moved its headquarters to Phoenix, Arizona and was a large and diversified company, with holdings in everything from the Armour meat-packing company (which in turn owned the popular Dial deodorant soap brand), acquired in 1970; Traveller's Express money orders, MCI bus manufacturing company, and even airliner leasing. Indeed, Greyhound had entered a time of great change, even beginning to hire African American and female drivers in the late seventies.

America For Me is a color travelogue film promoting Greyhound Lines, Inc. It was produced by Jerry Fairbanks Productions in 1953, and written by Les Adams. Cast members for the movie are Ellen Drew (American film actress), John Archer (American actor), Meg Randall (American film actress), and Robert Nichols (American actor). This film was directed by Albert H. Kelley, the last film he directed. In the film, a vacationing school teacher and her friend take a tour of America on a Greyhound Bus and find love.
Two cowboys come out from the rocks of Colorado and stop the Greyhound bus as it travels down the road (0:07-0:38). Cowboy pays for his ride and sits down (0:38-1:12). The incident came in the midst of poor diplomatic relations between Mexico and the United States, and was related to the ongoing Mexican Revolution.

Man injured in shootout with police threatened strangers before being shot
The 21-year-old Kenner man who was injured during a shootout with police officers Saturday morning in the French Quarter allegedly pointed the gun at the back of the head of one stranger on the street and even pulled the trigger when he was aimed at two others, but the gun didn’t go off, according to documents obtained by our partners at the New Orleans Advocate/Times Picayune.
The incident began when Austin Bental started pointing a gun at people in the area of Bourbon and St. Louis streets, the document said. Bental pulled the trigger five times while aiming at two people, but the gun didn’t go off.

Dating to the late 1950s or early 1960s, this silent footage shows U.S. Navy training operations at Brunswick Naval Air Station in Maine. At least one of the aircraft (33:41) tail #128345 was affiliated with Patrol Squadron Eight (VP-8) , a U.S. Navy land-based patrol squadron. The film likely dates to prior to 1962, when VP-8 switched from P2V Neptunes to the P-3 Orion aircraft. Many activities are shown in the film including classroom training with radar and communications equipment, ground check of aircraft (8:48), the venerable lightship Portland (12:01), freighters at sea (13:08), dropping of markers and sonabuoys or sound buoys (16:20), group volleyball (21:06), base facilities (22:18), and more.
Commissioned on 12 July 1941, and encompassing what was once Camp Dyer, NAS Quonset Point was a major naval facility throughout World War II. Beginning in 1943, pilots of the Royal Navy's Fleet Air Arm were trained at Quonset Point to fly the Vought F4U Corsair, which was then brought into service on British carriers. NAS Quonset Point continued as a major naval facility well into the Cold War. Prior to its closure, it had been home to numerous aviation squadrons, primarily those land-based patrol squadrons operating the P-2 Neptune and carrier-based antisubmarine and airborne early warning squadrons operating the S-2 Tracker, the E-1 Tracer and various modified versions of the A-1 Skyraider. NAS Quonset Point was also the off-season home of Antarctic Development Squadron Six (VX-6, later VXE-6) during the 1950s, 1960s and 1970s, operating the LC-47 Skytrain, LP-2J Neptune, C-54 Skymaster, C-121 Constellation, and eventually the LC-130F and LC-130R Hercules, as well as a variety of helicopters.
NAS Quonset Point was decommissioned on 28 June 1974 as part of a series of defense cutbacks which resulted in a nationwide reduction in bases following the end of the US engagement in Vietnam.

Amphibious Warfare: The Salvage Boat is one of a series of U.S. training films. This film discusses how salvage boats conduct their rescue operations. The film opens with footage of various landing craft hitting a beach and soldiers storming the beach. Several landing craft break down or are stranded (01:02). The film shows a salvage boat on the water (01:22) as well as a salvage boat LCPL (landing craft personal large) being lowered from a cruiser down to the water. The film provides an overview of the members of the crew on a salvage boat (02:13). A man preps a line-throwing gun (02:55). A salvage boat flies the sugar flag and cruises on the water toward a stranded boat (03:38). An aerial shot shows the salvage boat staying with its assigned assault boats (04:00); the salvage boat patrols behind the assault boats looking for stranded ships. An LCVP is stranded (04:50); the salvage boat moves to it on the down-current side. The crew of the LCVP take the heaving line and hook it to their boat; the salvage boat begins the extraction with its stern to sea. The salvage boat moves beyond the breakers (06:57), and its crew secure the rope to the towing bollard (a short, thick post on the deck of a ship or on a wharf, to which a ship's rope may be secured) and slowly take up the slack. They slowly begin to tow the stranded boat (08:16). The salvage boat pulls in the tow rope and heaving line (09:04) after the LCVP is safely back in deep water. An LCM3 is stranded on the surf (09:33); the salvage boat approaches the LCM and uses a wired bridle to tow the stranded boat. The salvage boat moves in (11:01), tosses the heaving line, and the bridle is brought aboard the LCM and fastened to both sides of the stern. A second salvage boat joins the effort (13:33) by pulling the first salvage boat, which pulls the LCM until it is in deep enough water to float and return to duty. The film concludes with a shot of the salvage boat sailing off to help another stranded boat (15:18).

- learn while on the move
- reduce eye strain

Chrysler (; officially FCA US LLC, and colloquially Fiat Chrysler Automobiles) is one of the Big Three automobile manufacturers in the United States, headquartered in Auburn Hills, Michigan. The original Chrysler Corporation was founded in 1925 by Walter Chrysler from the remains of the Maxwell Motor Company. In 1998, it was acquired by Daimler-Benz, and the holding company was renamed DaimlerChrysler. After Daimler divested Chrysler in 2007, the company existed as Chrysler LLC (2007–2009) and Chrysler Group LLC (2009–2014) before merging in 2014 with Italian holding company Fiat S.p.A. and becoming a subsidiary of its successor Fiat Chrysler Automobiles. In addition to the Chrysler brand, FCA sells vehicles worldwide under the Dodge, Jeep, and Ram nameplates. Furthermore, the subsidiary includes Mopar, its automotive parts and accessories division, and SRT, its performance automobile division.
After founding the company, Walter Chrysler used the General Motors brand diversification and hierarchy strategy that he had seen working for Buick, and acquired Fargo Trucks and Dodge Brothers, and created the Plymouth and DeSoto brands in 1928. Facing postwar declines in market share, productivity, and profitability, as GM and Ford were growing, Chrysler borrowed $250 million in 1954 from Prudential Insurance to pay for expansion and updated car designs.Chrysler expanded into Europe by taking control of French, British and Spanish auto companies in the 1960s; Chrysler Europe was sold in 1978 to PSA Peugeot Citroën for $1. The company struggled to adapt to changing markets, increased U.S. import competition, and safety and environmental regulation in the 1970s. It began an engineering partnership with Mitsubishi Motors, and began selling Mitsubishi vehicles branded as Dodge and Plymouth in North America. On the verge of bankruptcy in the late 1970s, it was saved by $1.5 billion in loan guarantees from the U.S. government. New CEO Lee Iacocca was credited with returning the company to profitability in the 1980s. In 1985, Diamond-Star Motors was created, further expanding the Chrysler-Mitsubishi relationship. In 1987, Chrysler acquired American Motors Corporation (AMC), which brought the profitable Jeep brand under the Chrysler umbrella. In 1998, Chrysler merged with German automaker Daimler-Benz to form DaimlerChrysler AG; the merger proved contentious with investors. As a result, Chrysler was sold to Cerberus Capital Management and renamed Chrysler LLC in 2007. ...

By the 1960s , G.N.Gonzales was a Honda distributor with a territory that covered the South East and the middle third of the United States. GN Gonzales grew through the '70s and '80s to become a premiere Honda, Yamaha and Kawasaki dealership with the largest motorcycle showroom in the world. In January 2011 George Gonzales Jr. passed away at the age of 92. The shop has remained open and is now run by his son George Gonzales III and Family. GN Gonzales LLC is an authorized dealer for Honda, Yamaha and Kawasaki motorcycles, scooters, ATV/UTVs and power equipment, along with Worksman Cycle's line of industrial and recreational bicycles.
