Bridge Day 2015 - Fayetteville, West Virginia - New River Gorge Bridge
Oh, go jump off a bridge! No, really - that's what they do on Bridge Day in Fayetteville, WV over the New River Gorge. This is a huge bridge spanning a 3000' foot wide gorge that is nearly 1000' deep. On Bridge Day they shut down the highway and start jumping off! We were there to watch.

I made this trip in August-September 2017. Video shot with a Brinno TLC-200 Pro time-lapse camera mounted on my roof with a homemade magnetic case. I travel with two Brinno cameras - one facing forward, the other in reverse. Sometimes the reverse camera captures better video (fewer raindrops and bugs hit the rear-view lens).

New River Gorge Bridge
Recorded October 14-16, 2019
The New River Gorge Bridge is a steel arch bridge 3,030 feet long over the New River Gorge near Fayetteville, West Virginia, in the Appalachian Mountains. With an arch 1,700 feet long, the New River Gorge Bridge was for many years the world's longest single-span arch bridge; it is now the fourth longest. The bridge is crossed by an average of 16,200 motor vehicles per day.
The roadway of the New River Gorge Bridge is 876 feet above the New River. The New River Gorge Bridge is one of the highest vehicular bridges in the world, and is currently the third highest in the United States. In 2005, the structure gained nationwide attention when the US Mint issued the West Virginia state quarter with the bridge depicted on one side. In 2013, the bridge was listed on the National Register of Historic Places.
In this video the bridge is seen from many vantage points, including...
From the New River itself while on a jetboat
From the Bridge Overlook at the Canyon Rim Visitor Center
From Fayette Station Road which crosses under the bridge
From the bridge roadway as I leave the area.

Going over the New River Gorge Bridge on U.S. Route 19 in Fayetteville, WV
(8-10-2018) Here is a short video of crossing the New River Gorge Bridge over the New River in Fayetteville, West Virginia on U.S. Route 19... the bridge itself is just shy of 3,000 feet long, and it takes about 30 seconds to drive across. It is WELL worth it to take Route 19 through WV to cross this AMAZING structure that sits 874 feet above the New River!!! Over 16,000 vehicles cross it everyday while traveling down Route 19, and the bridge is a famous national historical landmark, as the West Virginia state quarter has a picture of the bridge on the back, starting when the quarter was issued all the way back in 2005... With that being said, enjoy a video of crossing one of my very favorite bridges. :)
