THIS IS ONE OF MY FAVOURITE CITIES IN CHINA BUSINESS WISE !
Guangzhou is a harbor city, with a favorable coastal position and beautiful mountains surrounding it, an equatorial climate and a thriving economy. Many expats have been moving to Guangzhou, creating thus an international and welcoming atmosphere.
About the City
Nestled in the southeastern corner of China, in the province of Guandong, lies the city of Guangzhou. Guangzhou’s coastal location makes it an ideal port for international trading and transportation. It is China’s third largest city, with an estimated population of 13 million, and its proximity to Hong Kong and Macau has given Guangzhou the opportunity to become a hub of international business in China. Guangzhou is still a big source of China’s manufacturing industry, and because of this, the pollution can be especially bad here, especially when the breeze from the Pearl River slows down. The levels of pollution can be a shock for expatriates moving to Guangzhou and will vary from day to day, but escaping the confines of the city on the weekends is very easy, thanks to great transport links to the surrounding areas.
The Climate in Guangzhou
Guangzhou’s proximity to the equator means hot, wet summers which are very humid. For foreigners, the winters are a lot more manageable, as the summers can be very unforgiving to people who are not used to such high temperatures. Monsoon season runs from April right through to September, with rainfall at its highest from May to July. The rest of the year is a lot more dry, however, and temperatures rarely drop below 10°C through the winter, and even temperatures this low are very rare.
Finding Accommodation
Guangzhou is split into ten main districts, with the three city center districts, Yuexiu, Liwan and Tianhe acting as hubs for business, shopping and entertainment, such as the Central Library, the Opera House and the Guangdong Museum. Expatriates moving to Guangzhou will find that these areas are very expensive to live in, and rental prices are very high. Fortunately, getting into the city center from the outskirts of the city is very easy in Guangzhou, so the outlying districts of Haizhu, Panyu and Baiyan are ideal locations for finding accommodation. Panyu is particularly popular for expatriates moving to the city. The further out from the city center you go, the more prices will drop, but do not expect the prices to be as cheap as in the west of China. This is due to the fact that Guangzhou is one of China’s most prosperous cities, and therefore it is a very desirable place for expats and Chinese people to reside.

TAKE 3: Shopping on Beijing Road Guangzhou, China -- DKOR Interiors, Miami
TAKE 3: Shopping on Beijing Road Guangzhou, China -- DKOR Interiors, Miami
This past June, 2011 Karina Donadel and Ivonne Ronderos from DKOR Interiors took off on a voyage to the South of China in search for quality products for their on-going project in Port au Prince, Haiti. Neither of them had ever been to Asia so they were excited to check out for themselves firsthand what China had to offer. Join them on their journey to discover China, its people and the misconception behind their furniture, labor and products. Never had they imagined the immense amount of resources they would discover and now be able to offer to their residential and commercial clients.
This third video shows their day off shopping on Beijing Road and a visit to a temple in Guangzhou, China. They chose to take the subway to see how the locals really do it. See how nearly 13 million people get around using a very efficient subway system more than 8 stories underground. Unfortunately video does not depict the smell of too many people with the use of NO deodorant can be. Another thing worth mentioning is that most men carry the purses of their loved ones and the obvious affection towards their children.
Enjoy! And stay tuned for more videos

Guangzhou (Canton), a prosperous metropolis full of vigor, is the capital city of Guangdong Province located along the south coastline of China. Being an excellent port on the Pearl River navigable to the South China Sea, and with fast accessibility to Hong Kong and Macau, Guangzhou serves as the political, economic, scientific, educational and cultural center in Guangdong area.
Being the first cities benefited from China's Reform and Opening Up policy since 1978, Guangzhou acts as the pioneer of the economic development of the country, with thousands of large, small and medium-sized enterprises, which offer more job opportunities and make the city a heavily populated area. The city is especially prosperous in commerce, tourism, dining, finance and real estate. For travelers, Guangzhou shows much attraction through its famous sights such as the Five Ram Statue in Yuexiu Park, Pearl River and White Cloud Mountain.

Visiting China? I wrote up some things you should know before going --
Chinese wholesale market/mall w 23 Floors. Yes. It's real. It felt like walking thru Alibaba .com lol... I think a lot of the sellers in here are just wholesalers who take orders from sites like Aliexpress.com, alibaba.com, globalsources.com and other wholesale sites around the world.. bc they are always packing up boxes ...... well everywhere around the outskirts of the city of Guangzhou all you see are people moving boxes around haha..... was this better than just scouting for new product ideas on Alibaba.com? Not sure.. sometimes you can get lucky and find that amazingly cool thing.. but that can happen online too.... nonetheless it was a good experience to try out and see what the wholesale scene it all about.
...then we get a bite of some Chinese food, and end it with a preview of the next video, nightlife at O2 club at Party Pier.. click to watch next!

Shanghai Travel Guide - China Unforgettable Experience
Beijing China Travel Guide - Magical Mix of History and Future
Guangzhou or Canton (广州) , the capital of Guangdong Province, is the third largest city in China after Beijing and Shanghai with a population of more than 12 million. Founded in 214 BC, the city has been a springboard for trading, cultural exchanges, many revolutions and reforms, making it an unavoidable stopover to understand what shapes the modern China.
Guangzhou's isolation from the rest of 'typical China' by mountainous topography and early exposure to the outside world has resulted in its unique way of lifestyle, liberal ideas, distinctive cuisine and tremendous wealth. It is no surprise that Guangzhou is a cradle of many reforms and revolutions that changed the fate of China forever. Today Guangzhou still unveils many republic-era sights that help travelers understand modern Chinese history.
Founded in 214 BC, this capital of the richest province is always a mix of new and old. It not only boasts some of the oldest temples in China, a millenarian-old park, an imperial tomb of a southern kingdom and complete preservation of colonial villas and church on Shamian, but it also serves as a showcase of futuristic architectures and autopilot metro on Zhujiang New Town.
Despite its vibrant sight-seeing resources, travelers usually come to Guangzhou to shop and eat. Guangzhou accommodates countless huge markets specializing in almost any made-in-china products, including Chinese tea, herbs, garments, watches, electronics and toys. You will be appalled to see the real prices of those China-made products and the profit your local shops earn by selling them.
Guangzhou is divided into ten districts. Among them, Yuexiu and Liwan, the cradle for the Cantonese culture, has been the city center since the imperial era. Tianhe, which was a farming village decades ago, has been constructed into a new business center with some biggest shopping malls and highest skyscrapers in the city.
For travelers, the most useful road is Zhongshan Road, a 9 KM long highway horizontally cutting through the downtown of Guangzhou. The highway is divided into 8 sections. From Zhongshan 6 Road (中山六路)to Zhongshan 8 Road (中山八路) it covers around 80% tourist attractions and all famous restaurants. This area is well connected by Metro Line 1 from Changshou Lu (長壽路), Chen Clan Academy (陈家祠), Ximenkou(西门口) to Gongyuanqian (公园前)
Yuexiu (越秀 Yuèxiù) — The Zhongshan 6 Road area, which covers the original area of Yuexiu before its expansion in the 2005, has been the very core since 214 AD. Highlights include Yuexiu Park, Guangzhou Museum located at Zhanhai Tower, Orchid Garden, Mausoleum of Nanyue King, Guangxiao Temple, Temple of Six Banyan Trees, Huangsheng Mosque, Beijing Lu Shopping District, Sun Yat-Sen Memorial Hall, Temple of Five Rams, Shishi Cathedral.
Liwan (荔湾 Lìwān) — On the north of the pearl river makes up the old Guangzhou area and home to the standard Cantonese accent (Xiguan Accent, literally West Gate Accent). Tourist highlights include the colonial Shamian Island, Xiguan Old Houses, Xiangxiajiu shopping Street, Liziwan Lake Park and Chen's Clan Academy.
Tianhe (天河 Tiānhé) is the business district, thriving with many skyscrapers and shopping malls. The newly developed Zhujiang New Town (珠江新城) is a showcase of futuristic urban planning and avant-garde architecture.
Haizhu (海珠'Hǎizhū') — At the south of the Pearl River, the former industrial district has transformed into more residential and business today. It is home to the city's latest landmark Canton Tower and the South Campus of Sun Yat-Sen University
Panyu (番禺 Pānyú) is an area getting more popular among local tourists. Its Lianhua Mountain boosts 100,000 blooming lotus flower and sits a huge Bodhisattva Guanyin statue.
Baiyun (白云 Báiyún) — This district is where the old airport is located. The Baiyun Mountain is a major attraction.
Huangpu (黄埔 Huángpǔ) is home to Huangpu Military Academy.
Nansha (南沙 Nánshā) is a newly developed area at the southern tip of the city.
Luogang (萝岗 Luógǎng) is famous for its plum forest and Tianlu Lake Forest Park.
Huadu (花都 Huādū) is where the New Baiyun International Airport is located.
Zengcheng (增城 Zēngchéng) is famous for its lychee fruit, which are picked in June and July.
Conghua (从化 Cónghuà) is popular among tourists for its hot springs and Tianhe (Heavenly Lake) Recreation area.
