Nilambur Teak Museum is the World's First Teak Museum in the world. Nilambur is a town in Malappuram district, Kerala State. Nilambur teak museum has well maintained garden, herbal garden, taxonomic garden, children's play area etc. Nilambur - Shornur single broad gauge is a scenic indian train route to take for all travellers. Nilambur also has many other tourist attractions near by. Nilambur Cannoli Plot has the tallest teak in the world.

ലോകത്തെ ഏറ്റവും വലിയ തേക്കിന്റെ നാൾ വഴികളും ചരിത്രവും തേടി സഞ്ചാരികൾ എത്തുകയാണ് , കേരള വന ഗവേഷണ കേന്ദ്രത്തിന്റെ തേക്ക് മ്യൂസിയത്തിൽ. നിലമ്പൂർ തേക്കിനു മാത്രമായി നിർമ്മിക്കപ്പെട്ട മ്യൂസിയമാണ് നിലമ്പൂർ തേക്ക് മ്യൂസിയം. 1995 ൽ സ്ഥാപിച്ച ഈ മ്യൂസിയം സ്ഥിതി ചെയ്യുന്നത്, മലപ്പുറം ജില്ലയിലെ നിലമ്പൂർ ടൗണിൽ നിന്നും ഊട്ടി റോഡിലാണ്
160 വർഷം മുൻപ് ഈ തേക്ക് മരങ്ങൾ വളർത്താനുള്ള ശ്രമം ആരംഭിച്ച സ്ഥലത്തു തന്നെയാണ് ഈ പ്രദർശനാലയവും സ്ഥാപിച്ചിട്ടുള്ളത്. ഇതിനു വളരെ അടുത്തായാണ് ലോകത്തിലെ തന്നെ ഏറ്റവും പഴക്കമുള്ള തേക്ക് മരവും (കന്നോലിസ് പ്ലോട്ട്) സ്ഥിതി ചെയ്യുന്നത്. ഇത്തരത്തിൽപ്പെട്ട ലോകത്തിലെതന്നെ ആദ്യത്തെ മ്യൂസിയമാണിത്. തേക്കിനെക്കുറിച്ചും, അതിന്റെ ചരിത്രം, തേക്ക് വളർത്തലും പരിപാലനവും അതിന്റെ വിവിധ ഉപയോഗങ്ങളും സാമൂഹിക വാണിജ്യപ്രാധാന്യങ്ങളും മ്യൂസിയത്തിൽ വിവരിക്കുന്നു.
തേക്കിന്റെ സവിശേഷതകൾ, പരിപാലന രീതികൾ, ഇനങ്ങൾ, ചരിത്രം, ഉപയോഗങ്ങൾ എന്നിവ വളരെ വിശദമായി ഈ മ്യൂസിയത്തിൽ പ്രദർശിപ്പിച്ചിട്ടുണ്ട്. ബ്രിട്ടീഷുകാർ എങ്ങിനെയാണ് തേക്കിന്റെ അന്തരാഷ്ട്ര വിപണന സാധ്യത മനസ്സിലാക്കി അവ ലോക വിപണികളിൽ എത്തിക്കാൻ കടൽ കനാൽ, റയിൽ, റോഡ് മാർഗ്ഗങ്ങൾ ഉണ്ടാക്കിയെന്നത് കൗതുകകരമാണ്. സിൽക്കുപാത എന്നറിയപ്പെടുന്ന പുരാതന വാണിജ്യ പാതയുടെ രേഖചിത്രം. ചീനയിലെയും റോമിലെയും പുരാതന സംസ്കാരങ്ങളെ തമ്മിൽ ബന്ധിപ്പിച്ചിരുന്ന കരമാർഗ്ഗവും കടൽമാർഗവുമുള്ള പാതകളിൽ കേരളത്തിനു പ്രത്യേക പ്രാധാന്യമുണ്ട്.
പുരാതനകാലത്ത് കേരളത്തിൽ വന്ന വ്യാപാരികൾ കുരുമുളകിനേക്കാൾ മുന്നേ തന്നെ തേക്കും വീട്ടിയുമാണ് വാങ്ങിയിരുന്നതെന്ന് വിശ്വസിക്കുന്നു. റോമിൽ നിന്നും നിലമ്പൂർ കാടുകളിൽ മാത്രം കാണപ്പെടുന്ന വീട്ടി മരത്തിൽ നിർമ്മിച്ച മേശ കണ്ടെത്തിയിട്ടുണ്ട്. സുലൈമാൻ നബിയുടെ കാലത്ത് നിലമ്പൂർ കാടുകളിൽ നിന്ന് തേക്ക് കൊണ്ടുപോയതായി പരാമർശമുണ്ട്. എന്നാൽ 1840 ൽ ബ്രിട്ടീഷുകാർ ലോകത്തു തന്നെ ആദ്യമായി ശാസ്ത്രീയമായി നിലമ്പൂരിൽ കനോലി പ്ലോട്ട് എന്ന പേരിൽ തേക്ക് പ്ലാന്റേഷൻ ആരംഭിച്ചു.
