Kakuōzan Nittai-ji (覚王山日泰寺, Japan-Thailand Temple) is a Buddhist temple located in the city of Nagoya, Aichi prefecture, Japan. It was built in 1904 in order to keep the ashes of Buddha, given to Japan by the Kingdom of Thailand. ”覚王” literally means Enlightenment King, referring to the Buddha, and “日泰” means Japan and the Kingdom of Thailand in Japanese.

Templo Nittaiji (日泰寺) en Kakuozan, Nagoya
El nombre de este templo budista está compuesto por tres “kanji”. Ni (Japón), Tai (Tailandia) y Ji (Templo budista). Este templo fue denominado así en 1904, gracias a la contribución de parte de las cenizas reales de Buda Sakyamuni (el fundador del Budismo) a Japón del entonces rey de Tailandia Chulalongkorn, quien fue el abuelo del actual rey.

The holy remains of Buddha were provided from Thailand (then Siam) and Nittaiji（then Nissenji） was built in 1904 with agreement of the representatives of all the Buddhist sects.Under the name of ”Kakuo” representing Buddha, Kakuozan Nissenji was built by the symbol of friendship between Japan and Siam.Afterwards, Nissenji changed the name as Nittaiji in accordance with changing the name of the country from Siam to Thailand in 1939.

Nittaiji is the only temple in Japan that does not belong to any specific sect but represents all the sects.
覚王山の日泰寺は どこの宗派にも属さない全仏教徒のための寺院だそうです。
お釈迦さまのご真骨をタイ国（当時シャム国）より拝受し、
仏教各宗代表が協議し奉安する為に1904年に建立されたそうです。
ピンときませんが すごい話。ということは・・そういえば・・です。
お釈迦様の仏教は日本へ来たら数多くの様々な宗派に分かれます。
奈良仏教系（華厳宗・ 法相宗・律宗）
平安仏教（真言宗・天台宗）
法華系（日蓮宗）
浄土系（浄土宗・浄土真宗・融通念仏宗・時宗）

名古屋市中区の東別院(真宗大谷派名古屋別院)から鶴舞、御器所を抜け名古屋市千種区の覚王山日泰寺までドライブしてきました。運転の疑似体験をしながら名古屋の風景を楽しんでいただけたら嬉しいです。

Nittaiji Temple (วัดนิตไตจิ/覚王山日泰寺) หรือ Kakuozan Nittaiji สร้างขึ้นในปี พ.ศ. 2447 ในรัชสมัยของรัชกาลที่ 5 สิ่งที่ทำให้วัดนี้ไม่เหมือนใครอย่างแรก คือ วัดนี้ถือเป็นศูนย์รวมของทุกนิกายในญี่ปุ่นเป็นวัดแรกและวัดเดียว จึงไม่ขึ้นกับศาสนาพุทธนิกายใด ทว่าจะมีการหมุนเวียนเข้ามาดูแลวัดของแต่ละนิกาย ซึ่งไม่ได้มีแค่เรื่องนี้เท่านั้น เพราะยังมีเรื่องราวอีกมากที่คนไทยอย่างเราต้องแปลกใจ และ Unseen in japan อย่างแน่นอน
ที่ต้องกล่าวในส่วนของ Houantou Reidou ซึ่งอยู่อีกฝั่งถนนของวัดก่อนเพราะ ฝั่งนี้มักถูกละเลยจากนักท่องเที่ยว ทั้งที่นี่แหละเป็นจุดเริ่มต้นของการสร้างวัดนี้เพราะพระบาทสมเด็จพระจุลจอมเกล้าเจ้าอยู่หัว รัชกาลที่ 5 ได้พระราชทานพระบรมสารีริกธาตุให้เพื่อเป็นมิ่งขวัญของชาวพุทธในญี่ปุ่นในปี พ.ศ.2443 นอกจากนี้ยังได้พระราชทานพระพุทธรูปสำริดอายุกว่าหนึ่งพันปีให้ด้วย

Kakuozan, Nagoya has a famous temple called Nittaiji. Every 21st of each month, people in Nagoya will hold an event called En hi (縁日). This is a day for people to meet and enjoy the street food on the street to the temple! We went there to have a look and took this video. Enjoy!!
