Nizami Ganjavi (Persian: نظامی گنجوی, Nezāmi Ganjavi) (1141 to 1209) (6th Hejri century), Nizami Ganje'i, Nizami, or Nezāmi, whose formal name was Jamal ad-Dīn Abū Muḥammad Ilyās ibn-Yūsuf ibn-Zakkī, was a 12th-century Persian Sunni Muslim poet. Nezāmi is considered the greatest romantic epic poet in Persian literature, who brought a colloquial and realistic style to the Persian epic. His heritage is widely appreciated and shared by Afghanistan, Azerbaijan, Iran, the Kurdistan region and Tajikistan.

The tomb of 12th-century Persian poet Nezami Ganjavi (Drone: Mavic Pro). The tomb is located close to the city of Ganja. It was a part of Persia (Iran) until 19th century but now is a part of Republic of Azerbaijan. Nizami is one of the most famous poets in the history of Persian literature.

Ganja is the birthplace of the great Azerbaijani poet Nizami Ganjevi who made the invaluable contribution to the history of not only Azerbaijani literature but also the world literature. Nizami Ganjevi was born in Ganja in 1141. He was one of the most educated people of the time. He became world famous as the author of Khamme (penta verse ) the collection of five poems which displayed not only the poet's great skill but also his ethical and philosophical views. The most part of the lyrics is devoted to love. Other world famous works by Nizami are poems Khosrov and Shirin, Layli and Medzhnun, Iskander - nameh.

The Poetry of the Magnificent Sage, Nizami Ganjavi
The Nizami Ganjavi International Center of Azerbaijan, invited Dr. Ismail Serageldin, Director of Bibliotheca Alexandrina, to give a lecture on Nizami Ganjavi, which was delivered on 3 May 2013, in the city if Ganja at the Azerbaijan State Agrarian Academy Auditorium before a distinguished audience that included 250 professors and scholars.
Because many asked for the lecture to be made available to them,
Dr. Serageldin re-read the speech at the Studio of Bibliotheca Alexandrina, in Alexandra Egypt, on 25 May 2013.

شهر گنجه در جمهوری آذربایجان یا شهر نظامی گنجوی
در سال ۲۰۱۵ (۱۳۹۴) از شهر گنجه در جمهوری آذربایجان دیدن کردم.
شهر گنجه نام نظامی گنجوی را در ذهن تداعی میکند.
شاید بتوانم بگویم که با نمادها، مجسمه ها، خیابان، میدان، پارک و غیره که بیادبود او و آثارش ساخته و یا نامگذاری شده اند شهر گنجه را میتوان بنوعی شهر نظامی نامید.
همت مردم و دولت جمهوری آذربایجان در بزرگداشت از این شاعر بزرگ پارسی گوی قابل تحسین و تقدیر است.
در ویدئو پیش رو (که قسمتی از گزارش سفرم به شهر گنجه است) تنها دو قسمت از این نمادها را خواهیم دید.
در قسمت اول در ورودی شهر آثار نظامی گنجوی که به خمسه نظامی معروفند و بصورت کتیبه های سنگی بزرگی بنمایش گذاشته اند را دیده و در بخش دوم نگاهی به مقبره اش و همچنین موزه ای که در بزرگداشت او برپا شده است خواهیم انداخت.

بهرام گور روزی قصری در اطراف کوفهٔ عراق بنام خورنق دید ووارد آن شد که قصر باعظمتی با هفت زن زیبا که دختران هفت پادشاه بود دید. اجرای برنامه درکاخ گلستان و موسیقی از فرامرز پایور.
شاه روزی رسیده بود ز دشت
در خورنق به خرمی می‌گشت
حجره‌ای خاص دید در بسته
خازن از جستجوی آن رسته
شه در آن حجره نانهاده قدم
خاصگان و خزینه‌داران هم
گفت این خانه قفل بسته چراست
خازن خانه کو کلید کجاست
خازن آمد به شه سپرد کلید
شاه چون قفل بر گشاد چه دید
خانه‌ای دید چون خزانه گنج
چشم بیننده زو جواهر سنج
خوشتر از صد نگار خانه چین
نقش آن کارگاه دست گزین
هرچه در طرز خرده کاری بود
نقش دیوار آن عماری بود
هفت پیکر در او نگاشته خوب
هر یکی زان به کشوری منسوب

پیکری خوبتر ز ماه تمام

هر یکی با هزار زیبائی
گوهر افروز نور بینائی
در میان پیکری نگاشته نغز
کان همه پوست بود وین همه مغز
نوخطی در نشانده در کمرش
غالیه خط کشیده بر قمرش
چون سهی سرو برفراخته سر
زده در سیم تاج تا به کمر
آن بتان دیده برنهاده بدو
هر یکی دل به مهر داده بدو
او در آن لعبتان شکر خنده
وانهمه پیش او پرستنده
بر نوشته دبیر پیکر او
نام بهرام گور بر سر او
کان چنانست حکم هفت اختر
کاین جهان جوی چون برآرد سر
هفت شهزاده راز هفت اقلیم
در کنار آورد چو در یتیم
مانه این دانه را به خود کشتیم
آنچه اختر نمود بنوشتیم
گفت تا باشد از نمونش رای
گفتن از ما و ساختن ز خدای
شاه بهرام کین فسانه بخواند
در فسون فلک شگفت بماند
مهر آن دختران زیباروی
در دلش جای کرده موی به موی
مادیانان گشن و فحل شموس
شیرمردی جوان و هفت عروس
رغبت کام چون فزون فکند
دل تقاضای کام چون نکند
گرچه آن کارنامه راه زدش
شادمانی شد از یکی به صدش
زانکه بر عمرش استواری داد
بر مرادش امیدواری داد
در مدارای مرد کار کند
هرچه او را امیدوار کند
شه چو زان خانه رخت بیرون برد
قفل بر زد به خازنش بسپرد
گفت اگر بشنوم که هیچکسی
قفل ازین در جدا کند نفسی
هم در این خانه خون او ریزم
سرش از گردنش درآویزم
در همه خیل خانه از زن و مرد
سوی آن خانه کس نگاه نکرد
وقت وقتی که شاه گشتی مست
سوی آن در شدی کلید به دست
در گشادی و در شدی به بهشت
دیدی آن نقشهای خوب سرشت
مانده چون تشنه‌ای برابر آب
به تمنای آن شدی در خواب
تا برون شد سر شکارش بود
کامد آن خانه غمگسارش بود

To celebrate the great Azerbaijan poet Nizami Ganjavi, for the many gifts he has given us, for the inspiration he has bequeathed to the artists of the world, for the wisdom that is buried in his multi-layered works and for the profound humanity that calls to the better angels of
our nature through the centuries and into the future. In 2012, The
Nizami Ganjavi International Center established the “Nizami
Ganjavi International Award” to be presented to very distinguished
personalities and institutions embodying the very values that
Nizami promoted through his poetry.
2019 Nizami Ganjavi International Award been presented to H.E Ashraf Ghani, President of the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan and to Robert F Kennedy Human Rights presented to it's President Mrs. Kerry Kennedy.
An exhibition devoted to Nizami Ganjavi in Paris
An exhibition devoted to the 870th anniversary of Azerbaijan' genius of poet Nizami Ganjavi was organized in Paris at the Museum of Letters and Manuscripts, with organizational support from the Heydar Aliyev Foundation and assistance by the Embassy of Azerbaijan in France, November 12, 2013.
Archaeological finds related to the Nizami era -- coins, samples of jewellery, household items of the Shirvanshahs and Atabeys era, reproductions of miniatures drawn by Azerbaijani artists in the Middle Ages, pottery with reflection of miniatures, carpets and batiks made on the basis of characters from the poems included in Khamsa, photos made late in the 19th -- early in the 20th centuries in Ganja, a mock-up of the thinker-poet's mausoleum in Ganja, as well as photos of monuments erected to the poet in Baku, Saint Petersburg, Moscow, Rome, Cheboksary and Beijing were displayed at the exhibition. The guests were distributed books and brochures talking of the life and creativity of Nizami Ganjavi published by the Heydar Aliyev Foundation.
