Yosemite Ranch For Sale - Coulterville, Ca - United Country Green Fields Real Estate
Yosemite View Ranch is one of the finest large ranch and recreational properties in the California Sierra Foothills. If you need to take a break from your ranching operation, you can go horseback riding, hunting, hiking, mountain biking, camping, and gold mining.
Within 30 minutes there are three lakes for boating, fishing and swimming. For the hunter, you can hunt for trophy black tail deer and black bear on the ranch, as well as turkey, quail and doves.
This property is located in Mariposa County about 7 miles from Coulterville, CA . Yosemite National Park, considered one of the most spectacular parks in the world, is just a short drive away. From parts of the ranch you can see Half Dome...the park is within a day's horseback ride. The ranch has large areas that are fenced and cross fenced for livestock. The Ranch can support up to 200 head of cattle, but there are several areas that could be cleared to create more grazing land. Yosemite View Ranch has springs and ponds supplying year round water.
There are many areas for building your ranch home and even a large area that can be developed into a landing strip.
The Central Sierra foothills have a long history of gold mining dating back to the great California Gold Rush. Yosemite Ranch lies in the richest area, the Mother Lode Gold Belt and includes four patented mining parcels, The Sweetwater Lode, The Southern Cross Lode, The Alta Quartz Lode and the Talc Mine, along with remnants of an old mining town, Cat Town History.
The Bay Area is just a little over 2 hours away, Fresno and Sacramento less than 2 hours. When you develop your landing strip, you can be on your property from in state or out of state in no time.
The ranch sits at a perfect elevation below the snow line, although you might get a dusting from time to time, and above the fog line, so the weather is often cool and clear. Weather
We look forward to sharing this ranch with those looking to develop and escape to some of nature's most beautiful land.

Hwy 49 - The Mother Lode Highway in California - Road Trip Vlog 25
Traveling the Gold Rush's Mother Lode Highway - Hwy 49 in California. Visiting the little towns including historic Bassett Station. See it at:
California Highway 49 is named after the 49ers who came to this state in their search for gold in 1849. It begins in Oakhurst on State Route 41 and travels north toward the Sierra Nevadas and ends at Vinton somewhat near the Nevada border. We decided to take the Northern route towards Auburn, California bypassing the interstate.
Driving past the little towns along the highway in Sierra County was a pretty amazing experience. Sierra County was established in 1852 and was populated by the Maidu and Washoe Native People. With the discovery of gold, approximately 16,000 miners (The 49er's) settled there between 1848 and 1860. When the gold rush ended, the population decreased to the current 3,000.

STORYLINE
A wildfire, which has destroyed 25 homes and is only 15 percent contained, continued to ravage mountainous region just outside of the famed Yosemite National Park in the US state of California on Tuesday, forcing hundreds to flee.
The fire, burning just 12 miles (19 kilometres) outside the park, has shrouded one of California's most popular destinations in smoke, and risks marring business at the height of Yosemite's busiest season.
At summer's peak, as many as 4-thousand visitors a day stream into the park, but rangers expect the fire will keep very few people away.
Authorities said on Tuesday the blaze had charred more than 46 square miles (119 square kilometres) of steep, rugged terrain since a target shooter sparked the wildfire on Friday.
It has also forced the evacuation of 350 homes in the towns of Midpines and Coulterville, gateway communities whose businesses rely on tourist dollars, and continues to threaten about 2-thousand other homes.
Horse trainer Jon Currie, who lost his home in the fire, told AP Television about the devastation the blaze had caused.
Having to make the decision of whether to save his possessions or his horses, Currie managed to rescue all of his eight horses and one donkey from the inferno.
It was better to save the horses...you just got to do the right thing, Currie said.
Sarah Gibson, a spokesperson from the Californian Fire Department, said firefighters have been able to save some animals from the blaze.
We have dogs and cats that were rescued, Gibson said. It's personally heart wrenching for me to see.
Firefighters continued to battle the fire on Tuesday, so far, no serious injuries have been reported.
Firefighters might get some help from a slight drop in temperatures, but forecasters are calling for lower humidity and afternoon winds.

Drive: Westbound State Hwy 132-- Coulterville, CA
Thu Apr 5, 2018– A chance to take the 1970 Ford LTD out for a drive, before another round of rain in Northern California. This is a quick video back down the hill from Coulterville to Oakdale.
This was MAINLY supposed to be an opportunity to test an iPhone app that measures speed and compass direction. I wanted to see how accurate it was. The free version only let me record 3 minutes which was ample for my test.
If you're interested in using this app for iPhone, you can find the link here:
Though I highly recommend doing your search in the App Store, from your smart phone. It's called Action Car Camera / Video Speedometer.
It's not a bad app, even run as freeware (which I did in this video).
But if you're willing to pay the $2.99, feature restrictions are lifted and you can do more with it.
The ad shows the camera being used in portrait mode. Please don't!
Friends don't let friends shoot video in portrait. Use the landscape mode! Your windshield is in landscape mode... right? Yeah... there.... I rest my case! LOL
Plus the data items won't seem so cluttered.
Size and placement of the data can be adjusted, as well as outline color.
This is raw video uploaded straight from my cell phone. Please pardon my two obscenities. I’m usually more careful than that, but got too casual. (Cover the kids’ ears!) LOL

By placing Yosemite Valley and Mariposa Grove under federal protection in 1864, Abraham Lincoln paved the way for what would later become California's Yosemite National Park. See the tallest waterfall in North America, massive sequoia trees in Mariposa Grove, and endless wildlife throughout the park. From mountainous vistas to valleys of wildflowers, it is clear why this sprawling wilderness has awed and inspired the likes of John Muir and Ansel Adams.

California State Mining and Mineral Museum Kergon mine and the Miracle mine
California State Mining and Mineral Museum Kergon mine and the Miracle mine
Uranium was discovered in 1954 in the Sierra Nevada of Kern County, along the Kern River about 30 miles (50 km) northeast of Bakersfield. Two mines, the Kergon mine and the Miracle mine, made small shipments in 1954 and 1955. Uranium occurs as uraninite and autunite in shear zones in granodiorite. Accessory minerals include fluorite and the molybdenum minerals ilsemanite and jordisite.
