Norway is a city in Dickinson County in the U.S. state of Michigan. The population was 2,845 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Iron Mountain, MI–WI Micropolitan Statistical Area. The city is in the southwest of Norway Township, but is politically independent. It is on U.S. Highway 2 , which connects with M-95 about six miles west in Iron Mountain and with US 41 about 21 miles to the east. US 141 north merges with US 2 about four miles west of the city. US 8 has its eastern terminus in the city and crosses the Menominee River to continue west in Wisconsin.

Claus Ludvig Spørck - Interview 1985 Roros, Norway - A Norwegian Visionary

My grandfather Claus Ludvig Spørck (Bolle). Born January 15, 1915 in Trondheim, Norway. Claus is the oldest boy of six siblings. Both of his parents had died by 1938. After his mother had died it became difficult for his father to raise 7 children. Claus, the oldest boy, and a number of his siblings, were sent to Sweden to be cared for by his wealthy uncle Freddie. Freddie owned a steel fabricating company that was large enough to be on the Swedish Stock Exchange. Freddie saw that Claus was obviously intelligent, and made arrangments for him to be schooled in engineering at the University of Berlin and this was prior to WWII, sometime between 1933-1939. My grandfather earn a degree in engineering just as Germany began its movement to takeover of Europe. He went back to Norway and Sweden and enrolled in the Norwegian Airforce. He survived WWII and began working for his uncle Freddie, who owned the Steel Company. My grandfather went to the United States, using his degree in engineering, to do business selling Swedish made steel equipment. On one trip he became ill and need to see a doctor and this is when he met my grandmother Barbara Robison. Barbara and Claus married and had 3 children. My grandfather eventually took a job in Cincinnati, Ohio, at a engineering company called Lodge & Shipley. My grandfather did a lot of traveling to Norway and through the United States for business and to stay connect to his family in Norway. In the 1960 Space Race, the company that my grandfather worked for was hired by NASA to make parts for the Apollo Rockets that would carry the shuttle into space. My grandfather was incharge of the project to make a machine that would fabricate a nosecone for this rocket and his nosecone was used on the rocket. My dad has paperwork and an extra nosecone to prove this. Also, this video proves this. At one point, in the 1960s, my grandfather took a new job in Traverse City, Michigan, at the Parson's Corporation helping to design equipment. The Parson's corporation was know for making Helicopter Blades for the US Army During Vietnam. During this time my grandfather built a house in Roros, Norway as a place to get back to his home to spend time with his wife and Norwegian family. My grandfather eventually bought a house in Big Glen Lake and this is where he summered. He wintered in Roros, and summered at Big Glen. Until he his death on Aug. 23, 1993.

This video was a TV News report that was aired in the regional Local News Report for the Trondheim and Roros viewers. It was from 1985. The broadcast is almost entirely in Norwegian. Since my grandfather was such a successful man who managed to have a career in the United States and keep his ties with Norway, it was news worthy to do a story on him. My grandfather also came from a well know family in Trondheim and people knew the Sporck Family. Today, Trondheim is the largest city in Norway, North of Olso.
This video was recorded in Roros, Norway approximately 75 miles east of Trondheim near Sweden. Roros is a well known historic town that was once a Copper mining community and it is now a place where people live and vactation because it is a nice place in the mountains.

I revieved this video from my Great Aunt Gunvor Sporck Sundt who now lives in my grandfathers house in Roros. I visit her every year and she tells me all the information about the Sporck family!!!

Just outside of Norway, Michigan along US 2 Highway sits the Iron Mountain Iron Mine which has mine tours all summer long! They give you a ride on an old mining train deep underground! The tour really hasn't changed much at all since I made this in 2009, but I'd like to go see before 2019 is up just to see how much my camera skills have improved..

The petroleum industry accounts for around a quarter of the country's gross domestic product (GDP). On a per-capita basis, Norway is the world's largest producer of oil and natural gas outside of the Middle East.

The country has the fourth-highest per capita income in the world on the World Bank and IMF lists. On the CIA's GDP (PPP) per capita list (2015 estimate) which includes autonomous territories and regions, Norway ranks as number eleven. It has the world's largest sovereign wealth fund, with a value of USD 1 trillion. Norway has had the highest Human Development Index ranking in the world since 2009, a position also held previously between 2001 and 2006. It also had the highest inequality-adjusted ranking until 2018 when Iceland moved to the top of the list. Norway ranked first on the World Happiness Report for 2017 and currently ranks first on the OECD Better Life Index, the Index of Public Integrity, and the Democracy Index. Norway has one of the lowest crime rates in the world.

Trams in Oslo, Norway - Winter 2017 - Trikken i Oslo

The Oslo tram network is the 131.4-kilometre (81.6 mi) tram system in Oslo, Norway. It consists of six lines with 99 stops and has a daily ridership of 132,000. It is operated by Sporveien Trikken AS, a subsidiary of the municipal owned Sporveien who maintain the track and 72 tram vehicles on contracts with the public transport authority Ruter. The system operates on standard gauge and uses 750 V DC overhead. Depot, workshops and headquarters are at Grefsen (at the terminus of lines 13 and 17). There is also a depot at Holtet (along lines 18 and 19) that is home to the technical company InfraPartner, which maintains the track for the tram and metro systems in Oslo, and a small Office building for Oslo Sporveier.
