ಧಾರವಾಡ-ಕಲಘಟಗಿ ರಾಷ್ಟ್ರೀಯ ಹೆದ್ದಾರಿಯಲ್ಲಿ ಧಾರವಾಡದಿಂದ 7 ಕಿ.ಮೀ ದೂರದಲ್ಲಿ, ಈ ಹೆದ್ದಾರಿ ಮೂಲಕ ಹಾಯ್ದ ಹೋಗುವ ವಾಹನಗಳು ಇಲ್ಲಿ ನಿಂತು ಹೋಗುತ್ತವೆ. ಅಲ್ಲೊಂದು ಮಹಾದ್ವಾರ ಕಾಣ ಸಿಗುವುದು.
ಕೆಂಪು ಶಿಲೆಯಲ್ಲಿ ಕಂಡು ಬರುವ ಈ ಹನುಮಪ್ಪ ನಿಜಕ್ಕೂ ವಿಶಿಷ್ಟತೆಯಿಂದ ಕೂಡಿದೆ.
ಎಲ್ಲ ಆಂಜನೇಯರು ಕೈಯಲ್ಲಿ ಗದೆ ಹಿಡಿದಿರುವುದನ್ನು ನೀವು ನೋಡಿರುತ್ತೀರಿ. ಆದರೆ ಈತ ತನ್ನ ಎಡಗೈಯಲ್ಲಿ ಸೌಗಂಧಿಕಾ ಪುಷ್ಟ ಹಿಡಿದು ನಿಂತಿದ್ದಾರೆ. ಸೌಗಂಧಿಕಾ ಪುಷ್ಪ ಸ್ವರ್ಗದಲ್ಲಿದೆ ಎಂಬುದು ಪ್ರತೀತಿಯಲ್ಲವೇ.
ಇಂಥ ಅಪರೂಪದ ಪುಷ್ಪ ಅದೂ ಅಂಜನೇಯ ಹಿಡಿದು ನಿಂತಿದ್ದು. ಬಲಗಡೆ ಅಭಯ ಹಸ್ತವಿದ್ದು. ಕಿವಿಯಲ್ಲಿ ವಾಲೆ, ಶಿರದ ಮೇಲೆ ವಸ್ತ್ರಧಾರಣೆಯಾಗಿದೆ. ಗರ್ಭಗೃಹದ ಭಿತ್ತಿಗೆ ಗೋಮುಖವನ್ನು ಹೋಲುವ ಅಪರೂಪದ ಸಾಲಿಗ್ರಾಮವನ್ನು ಹೊಂದಿದೆ. ಅಷ್ಟೇ ಅಲ್ಲ ಈ ಹನುಮಪ್ಪನಿಗೆ ತ್ರಿವಿಧ ಶಕ್ತಿಯಿದೆ. ಅಂದರೆ ಇವನ ಮುಖವು ಒಂದೆಡೆ ಇದ್ದಂತೆ ಕಂಡು ಬಂದರೆ ದೃಷ್ಟಿಕೋನವು ಎರಡು ಕಡೆ ಮುಖ ಮಾಡಿದಂತೆ ಕಂಡು ಬರುವುದು ಇನ್ನೂ ವಿಶೇಷ. ಇಂಥ ಪ್ರಾಣದೇವರುಗಳು ಅಪರೂಪವಂತೆ.
ಇನ್ನು ಕರ್ನಾಟಕದಲ್ಲಿ 33 ಪ್ರಾಣದೇವರುಗಳು ಪ್ರಸಿದ್ದವಾಗಿವೆ. ಅವುಗಳಲ್ಲಿ ಇದೂ ಒಂದು. ಇವನನ್ನು ಒಂಟಿ ಹನುಮಪ್ಪ ಎಂದೂ ಕರೆಯುವರು. ಈ ದೇವಾಲಯ ನಿರ್ಮಾಣಕ್ಕೂ ಮಹಾಭಾರತಕ್ಕೂ ನಂಟಿದೆ.
ಪರೀಕ್ಷಿತನುವಿಗೆ ಹಾವು ಕಚ್ಚಿ ಸಾವನ್ನಪ್ಪುತ್ತಾನೆ. ತನ್ನ ತಂದೆಯ ಸಾವಿಗೆ ಕಾರಣನಾದ ತಕ್ಷಕ ಎಂಬ ಹಾವಿನ ಸಂತತಿಯನ್ನು ಅಡಗಿಸುವ ಪ್ರತಿಜ್ಞೆಯೊಂದಿಗೆ ಪರೀಕ್ಷಿ$ತನ ಮಗ ರಾಜ ಜನಮೇಜಯ ಸರ್ಪನಾಶ ಕಾರ್ಯಕ್ಕೆ ತೊಡಗುತ್ತಾನೆ. ಇದು ನಿರಂತರ ಸಾಗುವುದನ್ನು ಕಂಡ ಪಂಡಿತರು ಸರ್ಪಗಳು ಮಾನವನಿಗೆ ಉಪಕಾರಿ ಅವುಗಳ ಸಂತತಿ ನಾಶವಾಗುವುದನ್ನು
ತಡೆಯಬೇಕೆಂದು ಜನಮೇಜಯನನ್ನು ಕಂಡು ತನ್ನ ತಂದೆಯ ಸಾವಿಗೆ ಒಂದು ಸರ್ಪ ಕಾರಣವಾಗಿರಬಹುದು. ಹಾಗಂತ ಇಡೀ ಸರ್ಪ ಕುಲವನ್ನೇ ನಾಶ ಮಾಡುವುದು ಯಾವ ಧರ್ಮ. ಅವು ಮಾನವ ಸಂತತಿಗೆ ಉಪಕಾರಿಯೂ ಹೌದು. ಕಾರಣ ಕೂಡಲೇ ತನ್ನಿಂದ ನಡೆಯುತ್ತಿರುವ ಈ ಕುಕೃತ್ಯ ನಿಲ್ಲಿಸಿ ಪಾಪಕ್ಕೆ ತಕ್ಕ ಪ್ರಾಯಶ್ಚಿತ್ತ ಪಡೆಯುವಂತೆ ಸೂಚಿಸುತ್ತಾರೆ. ಆಗ ಜನಮೇಜಯ ಏನು ಮಾಡುವುದು ಎಂದಾಗ ಭೂಮಿಯ ಮೇಲೆ 500 ಹನುಮಾನ ದೇವಾಲಯಗಳನ್ನು ನಿರ್ಮಿಸುವಂತೆ ತಿಳಿಸುವರು. ಹೀಗೆ ಜನಮೇಜಯ ನಿರ್ಮಿಸಿದ 500 ದೇವಾಲಯಗಳಲ್ಲಿ ಇದೂ ಒಂದಂತೆ.

Dharwad also known as Dharwar is one of the important cities of Karnataka. Dharwad city is the head quarters of Dharwad district.
Dharwad is the second largest city of Karnataka state. It is situated on the National Highway -- NH4, the main highway between Pune and Bangalore city.
The history of Hubli-Dharwad, the twin cities dates back to the period of Hoysala. The city is also popular for its contributions towards Indian culture, especially to classical music and literature, and prominent educational organizations, like the Karnataka University.
Dharwad is also called as a hilly town because it is situated on the edge of the Western Ghats in Karnataka. The city is situated 750 meters above sea level.

The deity is said to be idolised in Nuggikeri village by a senior-member of the Nuggikeri village belonging to the Nuggikeri Desai family The pratishtapana of the Lord balabheema was done by his holiness Sri Vyasatirtha (the chief saint in the court of Sri krishnadevaraya of Hampi )

Till date the Lord hanuman temple is being managed by the same Desai family. The people of the Desai family follow a system of paryaya ( a system of internal rotation) in the management of the temple. The management of the temple changes once in every year
