Nuuanu Pali State Park
Recorded on January 15, 2004. Nuʻuanu Pali is a section of the windward cliff of the Koʻolau mountain located at the head of Nuʻuanu Valley on the island of Oʻahu. Today, it offers one of the best panoramic views of the windward (northeast) coast of Oʻahu. The Pali Highway (Hawaii State Highway 61) connecting Kailua/Kāneʻohe with downtown Honolulu runs through the Nuʻuanu Pali Tunnels bored into the cliffside. The Nuʻuanu Pali State Wayside is a lookout above the tunnels where visitors are treated to a panoramic view of the Oʻahu's windward side with sweeping views of Kāneʻohe, Kāneʻohe Bay, and Kailua.

Manoa Falls in Honolulu, HI on the island of Oahu. Would not recommend hiking that trail during winter because of the mud, also, flip flops and rain forest mud uphill through bamboo is not NOT fun!
OISC protecting Oahu's forested watersheds from cane tibouchina.
OISC field crew surveys for cane ti (Tibouchina herbacea) on Oahu.
All species of the genus tibouchina are listed on the State of Hawaii Noxious Weed List, including OSIC targets T. herbacea and T. urvilleana. Cane tibouchina poses a major threat to the Ko‘olau forests, especially the near-pristine summit regions. Not only does the plant thrive in wet forest conditions, it also produces hundreds of tiny seeds and can spread vegetatively. Broken pieces—even small ones—can root and form new plants.
The only known population on O‘ahu was discovered in 2005 at Poamoho, and is not regarded as established is the island.
OISC is working with Ko‘olau Mountains Watershed Partnership (KMWP) and the Department of Land & Natural Resources Nature Area Reserves (NARS) to conduct management operations to eradicate this population.

Pauoa Flats
Take a walk in the dark, lush, and cool tropical rainforest and reach the Pauoa Lookout looking towards the mammoth twin peaks of Konahuanui (someday I will hike this!) while overlooking Nuuanu Valley. I've used the Judd Memorial Trail, Nuuanu Trail, and the Pauoa Lookout in sequential order. There are many routes you can use to reach the Pauoa Flats Trail.
From Manoa Valley: Manoa Falls to top of Aihualama Trail
From Tantalus: to upper end of Puu Ohia or Manoa Cliffs Trails
From Makiki Valley: Nahuina Trail to top of Kalawahine Trail
From Nuuanu Valley: Judd Memorial Trail to top of Nuuanu Trail
Welcome to the Jungle - Makiki Loop Trail - Kid Hikes Oahu
#HikeHawaii #KidTravelHawaii #MyLittleCora
The Makiki Valley Loop Trail is right behind the Hawaii Nature Center and is about 2.4 miles long. This trail is made up of 3 individual trails: the Kaneolole Trail, the Makiki Valley Trail, and the Maunalaha Trail and connects to a longer 8 mile hike. Hiking with a 4 year old, we opted to hit the loop and made it about 3/4 of a mile in and then turned around. There is a lot to see and we will surely be back to this easy to hike trail. While we didn't catch any on camera we saw and heard many different birds. There is a small stream that feeds a taro patch and I'm sure we also saw a banana grove. The trail is wide and easy to navigate with your child. Hope you enjoyed this video! Get out and hike.

Hiking Hawaii - Nuuanu-Judd trail. Starting from Judd Trail and connecting onto Nuuanu Trail and finally connecting to Pauoha Trail to end up on Pauoha Flats overlooking the Nuuanu Valley and the Nuuanu Reservoir. The hike starts with a stream crossing and walk through Cook Pine forest and Bamboo forest along the way. The trail can get quite muddy if it rained overnight. There are many connecting trails so be alert to your surroundings or you can end up at quite different destination from where you want to go.

THE BLUE HAWAIIAN DIFFERENCE There's simply no argument: Blue Hawaiian is Hawaii's #1 helicopter tour company. Blue Hawaiian's aircraft maintenance technicians have received the FAA's coveted Certificate of Excellence, Diamond Award every year since 1998. No other helicopter tour company in Hawaii has ever received this critical recognition. Blue Hawaiian was honored by the FAA for its record 12th straight year in January, 2009, at a ceremony in Honolulu, and the FAA further honored Blue Hawaiian with the very first Certificate of Excellence, Platinum Award. And Blue Hawaiian is the only helicopter tour company in Hawaii certified by the Department of Defense.
Welcome to the Blue Skies of Hawaii. Blue is the only helicopter tour company serving all four major Hawaiian islands: Oahu, Maui, Kauai, and the Big Island. That means wherever you go in the Islands of Aloha, you know exactly how to get the world's finest aerial tours: just remember the color of the sky.
We don't just operate the best equipment, we help develop it. From the ultra-quiet, spacious, and powerful 21st-century Eco-Star helicopter to the breakthrough Garmin G500H technology, which gives our pilots astonishing three-dimensional synthetic vision terrain awareness in less than optimal weather; from our pioneering of multi-camera in-flight video, to designing vastly improved cockpit air-conditioning—Blue Hawaiian is always at the forefront of leading-edge innovations for your safety, comfort, and enjoyment. Because when it comes to our guests, good enough is never enough.
The finest pilots in the sky. Blue Hawaiian prides itself on hand-picking only the finest and most experienced pilots—the absolute cream of the profession—and every one of them is a State of Hawaii Certified Tour Guide. Blue Hawaiian is also the only helicopter tour company in Hawaii with its own state-of-the-art Flight Simulator, and the only one that puts its pilots through annual factory and FAA recurrent training.

Hiking the Kalalau Trail on Kauai Hawaii - P21
The beautiful Kalalau Trail is an 11-mile hike that leads from Ke'e Beach to Kalalau Beach along the cliffs of the famous Na Pali Coast. Na Pali and the Kalalau Valley have scenery so magnificent that their pictures are published worldwide in magazines, calendars and postcards. Hiking to the #1 rated beach in the world is a long trip, but if you want just a small glimpse of the coastal views and lush jungle, there is a shorter option for you. Day hikers can take a short 2-mile hike to Hanakapi'ai Beach or continue on 2 more miles up the valley to Hanakapi'ai Falls. All in all, whether you are backpacking the Kalalau Trail or only doing a short day-hike, this is one trip you are bound to never forget.
Pictures of the dramatic and lush Na Pali Coast stir hikers' wanderlust, but the Kalalau Trail hugging this dramatic coastline also triggers something far less romantic: terror. People have a hard time with some of the dropoffs, says Kathy Valier, a Kauai resident who's written guidebooks on hiking the island. The trail bed is narrow and crumbly, and I've talked with many people who have either fallen off the trail or seen it happen. The footing is twice as treacherous after the island's abundant rainfall turns the track into a greasy slip 'n slide--not amusing when you're edging along a 300-foot cliff that spills straight into a rocky surf. But despite such dangers, tons of locals and visitors continue to make the 11-mile (one way) pilgrimage to Kalalau, one of the world's most paradisical beaches.
Nu'uanu Pali Lookout VR360 Oahu, Hawaii
Nuʻuanu Pali Lookout is a section of the windward cliff of the Koʻolau mountain located at the head of Nuʻuanu Valley on the island of Oʻahu. It has a panoramic view of the windward coast of Oʻahu.
The Pali Lookout is a site of deep historical significance. Named “Pali” meaning cliff in Hawaiian, the Pali Lookout is the site of the Battle of Nuuanu, where in 1795 King Kamehameha I won the struggle that finally united Oahu under his rule. This fierce battle claimed hundreds of soldiers’ lives, many of which were forced off of the Pali’s sheer cliffs.
Note that the Pali Lookout is also known for its strong and howling winds. You’ll understand why the Nuuanu Pali Lookout is one of Oahu’s best scenic points when you feel the wind push up against you, hear the winds whistle through the mountains.
