Day 116 Apache Junction - Hell's Crossing
In Tempe we get woken up about 1 hour and 45 minutes after going to sleep LATE, by Tempe's bored police officers. Why are we there with a horse? What is our ID, please let us see? Oh, the Desk Officer has horses, wants to come out and look at the condition of the horse, basically these police hold us for 45 minutes over WHAT???????? Three cop cars, one tired rider/walker and one tired horse. Naturally we head for Mesa and East. Glad to be gone out of Tempe. Tempe must really be crime free these days.
We ride on to Apache Junction, where Ah Pymm sees me and Hampton coming and runs down the sidewalk to meet us. Family is glad to be back together. I go in and take a shower, I come out, the Apache Junction police are there and several young people have claimed Hampton for their own, taking him home NOW and apparently the Apache Junction police haven't told them that they can't just take someone's picketed horse without permission, known in other places as stealing a horse. I move Hampton to private property of a friend. Another late evening before I get a bath and sleep.

A look at a nice place to park the RV and a horse trailer for a few days in Apache Junction, AZ. And then go next door and take a guided ride up the mountain.

Tombstone is a historic city in Cochise County, Arizona, United States, founded in 1879 by prospector Ed Schieffelin in what was then Pima County, Arizona Territory. It became one of the last boomtowns in the American frontier. The town grew significantly into the mid-1880s as the local mines produced $40 to $85 million in silver bullion, the largest productive silver district in Arizona. Its population grew from 100 to around 14,000 in less than seven years. It is best known as the site of the famous fight at the O.K. Corral and presently draws most of its revenue from tourism.
