Long ago Native American Indians thrived along Silver River dating back over 12,000 years. They would build mounds and villages all throughout the area. The area was known as Ocali and was part of the Timucuan cultural region. AS ALWAYS ALL ARTIFACTS WERE LEFT UNDISTURBED. It is prohibited and illegal to dig for and remove artifacts from these sites in Florida. Please be respectful of these sites when visiting for future generations to be able to experience. Tim also alerted us Bow Fishing – the Apocalypse Now of outdoor recreation – the fastest-growing extreme sport in the U.S. which transforms the normally quiet pastime of fishing into a high-decibel thrill ride.
