அப்பு கோவளத்தில் ஒரு சாதாரண மீனவக் குடும்பத்தில் பிறந்து சர்ஃபிங் விளையாட்டில் பல சாதனைகள் புரிந்துள்ளார். பல நாடுகள் மற்றும் மாநிலங்களிலிருந்து பலர் கோவளத்தில் சர்ஃபிங் விளையாட்டை விளையாட வருகிறார்கள். தான் அறியாத தொழிலில் துறையில் ஈடுபட மனதில்லாமல் தான் நன்கு அறிந்த கடலைக் கொண்டு மாபெரும் சாதனை புரிந்துள்ளார்.
இக்காணொளியில் அப்பு தான் எவ்வாறு இவ்விளையாட்டில் பேரார்வம் கொண்டார், தங்கள் கிராமத்தை எவ்வாறு மாற்றியமைத்தார், எவ்வாறு சாதித்தார் என்றும் கூறுகிறார்.

Appu hails from a fisherman-surfer village of Kovalam. He's a first-generation surfer from the village. In 2007, German surfer Tobias Hartmann's weekend surf adventures caught the fancy of fisherman Murthy Megavan (co-founder, Covelong Point Surf School) and a ninth grader Appu. With Tobias surfing every weekend these fishermen were discovering a new sport and relationship with the sea they know so well. But it wasn’t until several years later that they realized that this beach has one of the best to surf in India. Good surf gives way to good surfers. These are the waves that have crafted Appu as one of the most revered talents in the country.
Appu's tries to perform ambitious tricks, though unsuccessfully. One only has so many waves to catch per round. But that doesn't get in his way to set the top score for the day. He valiantly puts on a show and goes big on the waves. He makes his living out of teaching several kids at Covelong Point Surf School. It isn't much but there’s nothing else he'd rather do. He's the mentor behind Covelong Point Surf Contest's Junior Category winner Dharini. He's taught many local kids who're now teaching surfing to the third generation of surfers. This is a community of young surfers who gather every morning taking turns to learn surfing over the few boards that are available to them.
In this video, Appu shares his success story of how surfing changed his Life. As he believed in the power of dreams, it is also highly important to stay focused on it before and after achieving the dream by just loving to do what one loves to do. Achieving a dream is important but loving the work we do is more important than that. He shares his experience that he went through after he chose to take up surfing as his career.

This video is dedicated to everyone who says Chennai is a boring place.
Started the day with a long ride to Covelong point where we did some surfing and soaked in the sun for a bit. Vicky, Ila and all the other boys from Ocean delight are truly delightful and made sure we had a great time. Positive vibes only.
After that we headed to the theosophical society where we met the legend Shravan Krishnan. You probably know him as the guy who saved Badra, the dog that was flung from the terrace by two doctors. If it still doesn't ring any bells then he is the guy who runs hotel for dogs and rescues snakes, birds, dogs, deers, bats and every animal that needs to be rescued.
We met him and he immediately got a call for a snake rescue. Accompanied him and saved the snake and released it safely. We then went to his dog shelter which he runs and then finally we went to the hotel for dogs.
Long day. But completely worth it.

Med Breaks Caravan | Episode 5 | People
The fifth and last Caravan episode is all about People. Last but not least. After Yaeer (Jungo) Eldar and Ro E Shalti took us through the once-in-a-lifetime Moroccan Caravan surf trip's angles; the Road, the Nature, the Search and the Time, they now get to the essence; the People; the red thread making the experience so strong and unforgettable.
Med Breaks' Caravan 5 episodes tell the story of five surfers travelling in a caravan from Casablanca to Agadir on the coastline of Morocco along with Yaeer (Jungo) Eldar, Ro E Shalti and their small video production team:

- Yair Assaraf: A well renowned Ashdodian surfer who is also famous as a surf painting and tattoo artist, owning a reputable tattoo studio.
- Dean Almog: A Team Billabong member an outstanding surfer who operates a surfing school in Bat Yam.
- Ido Minsker: One of the local best surfers and owner of Cravan's co-producing company, Global Surf Adventures specializing in rare surf trips organization worldwide.
- Shelly Lavy: Born and raised in Haifa, now living in Netanya, Shelly is a gym and surf instructor and a member of Team Boarderline.
- Lee (Lulu) Komm: A Tel Aviv surfer who loves to travel the world after the perfect wave.
Production Team
- Yaeer (Jungo) Eldar: A Videographer and artist, active for many years and well appreciated in the local film industry. In recent years, Yaeer was involved in numerous international productions amongst which are The Goodwin Project, God Went Surfing with the Devil both in the US, Covelong Point in India and of course Med Breaks which Jungo directs and produces.
- Ro E Shalti: One of the local renowned film editors, presently the house Editor of Mako, leading entertainment portal, and Producer & Co-Director of Med Breaks, formerly the Editor of Guy Pinnes TV entertainment magazine. Ro E is behind editing some of the most popular local singers' song clips; Shlomo Artzi, Shalom Hanoch, Riff Cohen, Moshe Peretz and more.
- Noam Eshel: A video photographer specializing in surf video-photography.
- Assaf Nachum: A photographer and experienced TV production specialist who was a member of the Survival production team.
Med Breaks is a series of surf documentaries by Yaeer (Jungo) Eldar and Ro E Shalti, both surfers in sole. After sharing their insight of Mediterranean surf delights; hidden surfing spots along the holly land's unique Mediterranean coastline, Jungo and Ro E spread wings, taking Med Breaks to a new dimension – Caravan – consisting of 5 episodes, each sharing a different angle of the Moroccan quest.
