Peace Memorial Park, Okinawa, October 21, 2014
At the southern end of the Okinawa Main Island you can find the Peace Memorial Park. A gruesome reminder of what war is all about and how madly it can escalate.
One can debate the architecture of the place, but the cornerstone of peace with all the names engraved are extremely powerful and almost overwhelming. You feel so sorry for all those who died and gratefulness for the ones that secured our freedom.
Be prepared to tackle this place along with one bus load after another of Japanese school classes.
Note that this upload contains both stills and HD video.

Okinawa Peace Prayer Park
Our family had a chance to view this beautiful memorial park.
Each monument is dedicated to the lives lost in each prefecture in Okinawa. The black stone walls includes the names of the victims as well as the Japanese, Americans and foreigners who died in the Battle of Okinawa.
The museum is also something to see. Unfortunately we were not able to use our cameras while in the building but you won't regret it.
Definitely bring your walking shoes as there is a lot of ground to cover. Bring some goodies to eat because there's a lot of sitting area around the park. Enjoy the view and relax!!
