OKC Museum of Art [Uncovering Oklahoma]
Coinciding with Oklahoma City Museum of Art's exhibition opening of Kehinde Wiley: A New Republic, this week's art focused video gets to know the city's art museum. The Museum's collection covers a period of five centuries with highlights in European and American art from the 19th and 20th centuries, a growing collection of contemporary art and one of the world’s largest public collections of glass sculpture by Dale Chihuly. The Museum boasts the region's premier repertory cinema, which screens the finest international, independent and classic films, and is home to the Museum School, which offers classes for students of all ages as well as art camps for children. Amenities include the Museum Store, a roof terrace, and the Museum Cafe, a full-service restaurant, offering lunch, dinner, Sunday brunch, afternoon tea, a full bar and catering services.

OKC Museum of Art Quilts Exhibit
Oklahoma City Museum of Art’s current exhibition; Quilts and Color, from the Museum of Fine Arts, Boston, showcases forty-five bold and vibrant quilts made by American women between 1840 and 1940. Part of the acclaimed Pilgrim/Roy collection now at the MFA Boston, the exhibition is on loan through Feb. 7.

The Oklahoma City National Memorial is a memorial in the United States that honors the victims, survivors, rescuers, and all who were affected by the Oklahoma City bombing on April 19, 1995.

Gilcrease Museum
The Gilcrease Museum contains one of the world's most comprehensive collections of American Indian and Western art. This nationally celebrated museum features extensive exhibits on America's prehistory, settlement, and expansion. The permanent collections of over 10,000 works of art include priceless pieces by renowned Western artists such as Albert Bierstadt, Frederic Remington, Charles M. Russell and George Catlin. Eighteen of Remington's 22 bronze sculptures are on display here. Large-scale landscape masterpieces by Thomas Moran are displayed in the galleries along with the works of over 400 artists. The grounds of the Gilcrease Museum match the artistry within as 11 themed gardens have been developed on 23 of the museum's 460 acres. Garden tours are available to make the most out of your time on the Gilcrease's beautiful grounds.

The Oklahoma City Art Museum participates in the Bank of America Oklahoma city art museum free days program, which gives B of A card holders free entry the first weekend of each month. The Oklahoma City Art Museum exhibits change out 3 - 4 times per year, so it is worth going back that many times a year. The Oklahoma Art Museum Parking is a bit of tight while they get the street renovations done. All this aside, the Chihuly galss is amazing, the perminent displays at the Oklahoma City Art Museum are nice, and the rest depends on what the current Oklahoma City Art Museum exhibits are. The current Oklahoma City Art Museum exibit was quite enjoyable.

Our City, Our Story - Museum of Osteology
The Museum of Osteology, located in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, is a unique educational experience. Focusing on the form and function of the skeletal system, this 7000 square ft. museum displays hundreds of skulls and skeletons from all corners of the world. Exhibits include adaptation, locomotion, classification and diversity of the vertebrate kingdom. The Museum of Osteology is the only one of its kind in America.

Located in Lawton, the Museum of the Great Plains features special collections and exhibits that spotlight the cultural and natural history of the Great Plains of North America. Discover the latest National traveling exhibit at the Seminole Nation Museum called “Return to Exile.” Through the eyes of contemporary southeastern native artists, this exhibit offers a glimpse of the time 200 years ago when the Creeks, Choctaws, Chickasaws, Cherokees and Seminoles were removed from their homelands in the southeastern United States to Indian Territory, now Oklahoma.
Third Thursdays at the Oklahoma City Museum of Art
The Oklahoma City Museum of Art’s Third Thursdays program features live music, a special menu at the Museum Cafe, full bar on the Roof Terrace, and access to the Museum’s galleries. Admission is just $5; food and libations are available at an additional cost. This year, the Museum’s Roof Terrace will be open to the public only during Third Thursday events.
The Museum will continue extended hours and $5 admission every Thursday, but special programming and the opening of the Roof Terrace will occur only on the third Thursday of the month.
Admission to the Museum on Thursday evenings is $5, and no other discounts apply. Admission for Museum members is always free. More information about Third Thursdays, including how to purchase tickets, can be found on the Museum’s website, okcmoa.com.

Science Museum Oklahoma Off the Beaten Path Exhibit
Tour many of the state’s unusual, intriguing and lesser-known areas through an exhibit called “Off the Beaten Path” at Science Museum Oklahoma! This photo-documented joint art exhibit by husband and wife team Scott and Katie Henderson runs through the end of June. The Hendersons traveled the state from February 2015 to October 2016 photographing the odd, awe-inspiring and the only-in-Oklahoma. From a light bulb in Mangum that’s been burning for 89 years to North America’s second largest herd of Asian elephants in Hugo!

The Five Civilized Tribes Museum in Muskogee is a celebration of the rich culture and heritage of the five tribes linked to the area - Cherokee, Chickasaw, Choctaw, Muscogee Creek and Seminole. The museum honors these tribes through the display of artifacts that convey their unique history in Oklahoma. Visit the museum to browse one-of-a-kind artifacts housed in a building as historic as its contents. The structure that now houses the museum was built in 1875 as the first Union Agency building constructed by the U.S. Government to house the Superintendence of the Five Civilized Tribes.
