Mavic2 Pro, 秘景「奧大井湖上駅」 Okuoikojo Station, Shizuoka, Japan [4K]
Okuoikojo Station, a secret scene, is built on a peninsula in the middle of Sesso Lake, Shizuoka prefecture of Japan. There is no one living nearby or operating the station. The place is quiet and beautiful. We have hiked up a small hill and walked across the iron bridge to reach the station. Autumn has come and leaves have changed to golden yellow color. The water has turned to silky white. The whole place was like floating in the sky. It was truly amazing!
Mavic2 Pro was used for the aerial footage. ND filter was used to maintain the shutter speed at 1/60 for the natural-looking motion blur of the train shots. HLG color profile was used to allow more room for post editing adjustment between the light water and the darker trees. On the ground I used Sony a6400 with Sigma 16f1.4 lens and Zhiyun Weebill gimbal. I also used HLG color profile so I could process the clips in the same way.
Post editing has an emphasis about the background train sound effect which was recorded live on site. A teal and orange LUT was added to bring out the color tone of the Autumn.
Last but not least, special thanks to my wife, Sindy, who was the actress in the video and also she has helped with the ground shots and the art directing in post production.

Okuoikojo Station (Train Station over the Lake), Shizuoka
Fantastic Places in Cool Japan :
“Okuoikojo Station” (Train Station over the Lake) of Oigawa Railway, which runs in Shizuoka Prefecture, is a beautiful secluded station that seems to float on the lake. It is a very rare railway line that operates SL for more than 300 days a year. The train that runs through the mountainous area called the Apt type runs ahead of Senzu Station on the Oigawa Railway. “Okuoikojo Station”, which can only be reached by that train, is a very famous unexplored station that has been introduced on TV.

Oigawa Railway Ikawa Line, Oku-Oi-Kojo station
Oigawa Railway's Ikawa line was constructed in 1935 as a private railway for the development of hydraulic power sources in Oigawa basin. Once dam constructions were completed, original Ikawa line's track went down under the water surface level of the dams, so it was re-routed up to above them.
Now, Ikawa line is the steepest railway in Japan. The grade between Abt-Ichishiro and Nagashima-dam stations is over 9%.
The trains are boosted by electric locomotives with Abt rack rail for climbing this section.
Also, Sekinosawa viaduct is the highest railway viaduct in Japan which height is 70.8m above Sekinosawa river.
Oku-Oi-Kojo station is very unique, because it is located above middle of Nagashima dam, It's like floating on the lake.

Japan Roadtrip Part 6: The Oigawa Railway (a steam train) from Shin-Kanaya to Senzu (and back)
#Japan #Roadtrip Part 6: The #OigawaRailway from #ShinKanaya to #Senzu, both #Shizuoka Prefecture. In Japan you still find many active steam trains, but what makes Oigawa Railway so special is that it is the only steam train to operate year-round on a regular, scheduled service. And it runs as an Express Train on the route, overtaking the local (electrical) train at a half-way stop! The landscape to both sides is amazing as the train crosses the river multiple times while going up into the mountains. You also see many tea and rice fields. If you want to ride a steam train in Japan, search for SL trains as they are called here. SL for Steam Locomotive.

LAY HO MA everyone! I'm incredibly excited to share this REALLY special episode with you all! I was recently in Shizuoka, Japan to film this incredible short documentary to highlight beautiful Shizuoka and to tell a short story about Jiro-san, a 3rd generation Japanese green tea farmer. Shizuoka is world famous for their green tea and produces around 60% of all of the green tea in Japan. The green tea field we filmed at was incredibly beautiful and really beyond words. Okuōikojō Station (奥大井湖上駅)
■Station history
Okuōikojō Station was opened on October 2, 1990 when part of the Ikawa Line was re-routed to avoid the rising waters of the lake created by the Nagashima Dam. Located on a cliff next to the Okuōi Reservoir created by the Nagashima Dam, the station platform partially extends onto a bridge spanning the reservoir.
