Northern California US 101: Eureka, Arcata at Sunset
Enjoy the drive up US Highway 101 in northern California around sunset time. This drive begins at California Route 211 (from Ferndale) and hops onto 101 for the drive through Eureka and Arcata. There's a brief stop for dinner, and then the drive continues to the Clam Beach area, where I tried to catch a sunset.

I made this trip in August, 2015. Video shot with a Brinno TLC-200 Pro time-lapse camera, mounted on my roof with a homemade magnetic case. I travel with two Brinno cameras - one facing forward, the other in reverse. Sometimes the reverse camera captures better video (fewer raindrops and bugs hit the rear-view lens).

The Carson Mansion is a large Victorian house located in Old Town, Eureka, California. Regarded as one of the highest executions of American Queen Anne Style architecture,the house is considered the most grand Victorian home in America. It is one of the most written about and photographed Victorian houses in California, and perhaps, in the United States. It was a rainy day and I didn't know what else to do, so for fun, I drove south through Eureka, California, then made a U-turn and headed north through town again, and continued on up the highway to McKinleyville, where I departed from US 101 for a closer look at the town.

Eureka California Homelessness
Something honestly needs to be done about the #homeless issue in #California. I’m not sure what type of legislation needs to be passed however in #EurekaCalifornia yesterday after my pick up I personally witnessed a total of 47 homeless people within a 10 block radius either sleeping on the sidewalks in front of local businesses loitering in front of the businesses asking for money or living out front on the sidewalks. What was even more disturbing were the amount of #women that were in this position. Now I’m not saying that to discredit men at all however it’s just odd seeing a female in that position not sure if it’s drug use people trafficking or prostitution but whatever it is these people honestly need help male and female alike.

Driving from Eureka, CA to Berkeley, CA via US101
I got a good night sleep last night, and today am ready to explore Northern California a bit. I continued down US101 (Avenue of the Giants), and enjoyed the brobdingnagian redwoods. I even drove my car through one of the trees, stated to be about 2400 years old.
By the time I got to Ukiah, I was ready to hear some new music. Dig Music helped me with this need. Thanks Dig Music!!!
I met up with a friend in Berkeley. We had dinner and then took an Uber ride into San Francisco for some sightseeing.
My Sony HXR-NX100 rode shotgun on a tripod shooting at 4 fps. The tripod was held in place using bungee cords giving it I nice smooth feel, even on bumpy roads. I also used this same camera to shoot various scenes around the country, and to interview folks.

The most recent enhancement is a professionally designed and built Victorian fence that was over six figures to construct that created a beautiful and very private yard with garden. The exterior and interior have recently received tlc. The decorative glass windows are amazing. Large oversized windows open to amazing varied views of the bay, mountains, islands, boats, old town, downtown and the Carson Mansion. The ultimate office location.

Here is my trip to the wonderful town of Eureka California! I enjoyed my stay here after a few bumps on the road, but there are some nice museums here and a zoo to check out! Not downing Eureka, but just wasn't my cup of tea for others it may be perfect. What I do know is that it is BEAUTIFUL! #NoCantFant #Something4ThePeople
