FULL TIME RV LIVING HAS TAKEN US TO THE SQUAW VALLEY SKI RESORT AERIAL TRAM AND LAKE TAHOE TRAILWAYS BIKE PATH FOR SIGHTSEEING AND GREAT DINING IN CALIFORNIA!
Squaw Valley Ski Resort in Olympic Valley, CA, is one of the largest ski areas in the US, and was the host site of the entire 1960 Winter Olympics.
Aerial Tram Tickets were a bit pricey. We stayed for HOURS and ate at the Granite Bistro Café up on the mountain.
The Lake Tahoe Trailways Bike Path proved how beautiful and unique the west shore of Lake Tahoe is.

RV LIVING-EXPLORING THE CALIFORNIA CHINA WALL-DONNER SUMMIT, TRUCKEE,CALIFORNIA-NEAR LAKE TAHOE-EP74
RV LIVING-HIKING CALIFORNIA CHINA WALL AT DONNER SUMMIT IN TRUCKEE CALIFORNIA-NORTH OF LAKE TAHOE. In 1865, the Central Pacific Railroad was trying to lay railroad tracks east to meet tracks that were being layed west by the Union Pacific Railroad. To decrease rising costs, and increase productivity, the CPRR hired 50 Chinese laborers as a test to see if these “smaller” workers could cut it. These workers proved to be so superior, that eventually 12,000 would be employed. The tunnels saw their first trains in 1868, and their last in 1993. We visited these tunnels in June 2019. Visiting in the months of July and August would be even better!

Riding in the Burton Creek State Park on some trails recommended by the good folks at Olympic Bike Shop. It takes some climbing, but the trails are totally worth it. And they're convenient: you are on dirt within a few hundred feet of the main strip in Tahoe City. Unfortunately, camera battery was dead for the descent, which was a blast.

Spartan Race World Championships 2017 - VIDEO TOUR (Lake Tahoe, USA)
Here is some footage from the Spartan Race World Championships 2017 in North Lake Tahoe!
I came 73rd overall
and the wife finished 423rd female
SO MANY people were not doing the burpees haha, not sure why, they are only cheating themselves!! Strange!
This was our second trip to the Spartan Race World Championships and we always have a good time! The route takes you up and down two ski resort mountains, totalling 16 miles or so in total. The highest you'll be is just over 9,000ft elevation! If you enter the Ultra Beast on Sunday, you have to do the route twice, so 32 miles!
The hardest part was probably the swim... at almost freezing temperatures, it's a bit of a shock to the system! lol
Elevation: 4,467ft (1,361m) elevation gain, and 4,487ft (1,368m) elevation loss, for a total of 8,954ft (2,729m) of elevation change.

North Lake Tahoe
1960 Squaw Valley Road
Olympic Valley, CA 96146
Located a short ride from Lake Tahoe, this epic venue was once host to the 1960 Olympic Winter Games. Join us today for the greatest obstacle course race in North Tahoe Lake, Olympic Village, CA!
The obstacle racing weekend of the year will feature two Spartan Race distances to choose from over two days of racing: The Spartan Beast and the Spartan Ultra. Which challenge are you ready to accept?
To do well, runners will need to prepare for the thin air as heights reach over 9,000 feet of elevation. Lake Tahoe is one of Northern California’s premier destinations and draws a healthy crowd year-round for its spectacular skiing, water sports, and outdoor activities. With 72 miles of shoreline straddling the California-Nevada stateline, there’s always somewhere new to explore and plenty of terrain for Spartans to roam. The most popular areas to visit include the more nature-oriented North Tahoe, or the party scene of South Tahoe. Or you can do it all -- visitors have the potential travel around the lake in under 90 minutes.
Spartans are in for an adventure filled with traverses, climbs, crawls and perhaps even some swims. Come prepared.
TOP REASONS TO TAKE ON THIS COURSE:
1. Elevation is one of the most defining elements of the Tahoe venue, starting at a surface elevation of 6,224 feet and working upwards of 9,000 feet only means one thing: get those lungs and quads ready for the long haul.
2. Cozy cabins are a plenty. Just make sure you book one early so you can be as close to all the action as possible.
3. Grover Hot Springs: Drive South to Markleeville and soak in a natural thermal hot springs. Your leg muscles will thank us for this recommendation.
4. Kayak to Fannette Island: The small island in Emerald Bay is the only island in Lake Tahoe and is worth a kayak trip. At the top is the remnant of an old “tea house.”
5. Bike the 165-mile Tahoe Rim Trail or at least part of it for extended adventure off the course. Chances are you'll only want to bike a section of the route as part of your active recovery.
6. Take to the skies and launch out from Slide Mountain on a powered hang glider. The view of Tahoe is hard to beat and you get to wear a stylish blue jumpsuit.

Spartan Race is a series of obstacle races of varying distance and difficulty ranging from 3 miles to marathon distances. They are held in US and have been franchised to 30 countries including Canada, South Korea, Australia and several European countries. The series include the Spartan Sprint, the Super Spartan, the Spartan Beast, and the Ultra Beast. Spartan Race also has a military series, hosted on military bases. There are also winter and team events.
Obstacle Course Racing (OCR) is a sport in which a competitor, traveling on foot, must overcome various physical challenges in the form of obstacles. Races vary from mostly obstacles such as American Ninja Warrior Ninja Races, to track races, to urban and cross country events. In cross country events, mud and trail runs are often combined and the races are designed to result in mental and physical collapse. Obstacles may include climbing over walls, carrying heavy objects, traversing bodies of water, crawling under barbed wire, and jumping through fire. Many obstacles are similar to those used in military training, while others are unique to obstacle racing and are employed throughout the course to test endurance, strength, speed and, dexterity.
Races vary in distance and difficulty, often combining trail running, road running, and cross country running. With race venues typically in sports stadiums, ski resorts, cities and parks, organizers encourage athletes of all types to participate. Many military training obstacles were introduced into Cross Country Running at Tough Guy. According to the Los Angeles Times in 2012, the number of events—typically all-day festivals—rose rapidly. California is also home to a number of exciting major cities, charming towns and to some of the world’s best wineries.
HOW WE FOUND THE QUAINT TOWN OF MEDORA NORTH DAKOTA | PITCHFORK STEAK FONDUE | MEDORA MUSICAL | EP86
WE DISCOVERED THE QUAINT TOWN OF MEDORA, THE SOUTHERN GATEWAY TO THE THEODORE ROOSEVELT NATIONAL PARK, quite by chance. The town revolves around the legacy of Theodore Roosevelt in his early years, and the shows, comedy acts, restaurants, shops and museums are steps away from the Medora Campground we stayed at.
The history on how the town has survived up till now is mind bending,……with a Frenchmen, a future President of the United States and a successful Industrialist involved.
A “must do” event is to show up for the Medora Pitchfork Steak Fondue Buffet, prior to you attending the Medora Musical, which starts in the early evening. This show is performed in an amphitheater, formed into the side of one of the areas hillsides.

RV LIVING-MOVING MOTORHOME MID-STAY AT CYPRESS TRAIL RV RESORT-EP08
Sometimes, no matter how lucky you are, you are unable to stay long term in the camp site. The lot that we were RENTING to stay on in the Cypress Trail RV Resort was so spectacular, that it was wisely purchased by a wonderful couple. Since Mark’s shoulder surgery was coming up soon, and had company flying in from Wisconsin in a few days, we asked to move sooner than we actually had to. This allowed Mark to drive the rig,…...rather than me, Sue. It also allowed the new owners to stay on the lot a few days before returning home for the season.
Come join us in a 10 minute rolling Tour of the Cypress Trails RV Resort as we look for the lot we were assigned. It was tougher to find than we expected…...the one right next door! Just walked all the bikes, lawn furniture, fire pit, plastic table, hoses and pipes over 60 feet to the adjacent spot.
